They should make them able to be turned in to an NPC for some sort of currency that you can purchase things like packs of materials with or something

From my understanding, all this ascended gear currently can't be sold on the TP and they possibly can't even be salvaged, although it would be wise for you to give it a go before you decide to merchant them. If you have the space, hang on to them for a bit just in case any changes are made in the future that would make them useful. It's like some of the useless superior sigils in my bank. They can't be forged and they aren't worth very much when sold, so I'm waiting to see if there will ever be a patch that allows them to be forged.

Regardless, congratulations on getting too many ascended trinklets. Some people are still working hard on outfitting one toon with them, let alone having enough for their troop of alts.

I'm holding on to mine just in case they ever release a mystic forge recipe for them. Like throw in 4 junk ascended rings, get a random ascended ring.

It's ridiculous that you can't even salvage them for ectos.

I'm holding onto mine in the hope ANet come to their senses and allow us to do something worthwhile with them.

You know what I meant X3
Difficult-to-get items should be turn-in-able for equal or slightly lesser value with the effort they take to acquire, if you have no use for them.

You can put them into the MF. Though I don't have enough rings at the moment to see what can come out of it.

You put in one, 5 Vials/3 Globs/1 Shard to infuse it, and give an extra 5 Agony Resistance.

Rings are bank-slot-filling trash once you get to level 20 and already have your two rings. I have five alts all with their own infused(dropped) rings (even my new level 15 alts have some waiting for them) and still have 20 rings, infused and uninfused, sitting there taking up space. Not to mention the 75 pristine fractal relics I don't have any use for, but should be able to be used for amulets and accessories.

Not all day...I do my dailies on two characters 20+ (was 10+ until I figured I didn't need uninfused rings any more) for fractal weapons. Paid for a wintersbark with fractal loot. Now I'm in the process of getting a third up to 20.

For now I keep them since I still have 20 free bank slots, hopefully one day they'll be salvageable for something useful.

I have a hard time with this. So you're basically saying you have -so- much of the nBiS gear that you have to contemplate throwing it away...   Like the millionaire who complains that he has so many spare Lambourginis, Ferraris and Porches sitting around that he doesn't have enough garage space...  Yeah...   I feel so...sorry... for you.

Lamborghinis, Ferraris, and Porsches may all be resold for a significant portion of their original value.

I'm saying that the drop rates of rings are out of balance with the difficulty of obtaining amulets and accessories, for one. I'm also making it clear that you don't NEED to grind out fractals in order to get the rings you want. Know also that some of the rings I have on my characters are actually not best in slot for their builds, but are close enough that they're useful and I'm not pressed to use pristines and mists drops to get the exact ones. Example: my berserker thief has an infused red ring, and would like an infused crystalline band to go with it. I have not even had a crystalline band drop for her. so I have a marriner's Compass instead, because the OTHER infused rings I have are either condition damage primary, or healing power, or magic find. I've gotten four uninfused ralena's bands, and two infused. I'm using none of them.

Yes, the rings are indeed useless across the board for my characters so I have no choice but to vendor them off. If I could salvage them for mists consumables, that'd be great. If I could forge them for a chance at another ring, I'd do that as well. But no..it's almost 5s worth of garbage weighing down my already well-expanded vault space.

I entirely agree with you. I became interested in fractals about a month or so ago when it was a requirement for the monthly achievement. Since then I've brought my elementalist to level 40 with 35 agony resist and a completed fractal capacitor. I got a fractal hammer drop and decided to bring my guardian out of mothballs and have since brought her up to level 10 and already with 20 agony resist. I don't have all the free time in the world so I don't always get my daily runs. And to be honest, I don't see much point in grinding regular and pristine relics as I have no use for the ones already clogging up my storage. I'm sure I have enough adequate infused rings in storage for my warrior if I should decided to outfit him as well but he barely comes out of the barn so I haven't put much thought into it.

The point is that anyone who puts any serious effort into fractals can easily obtain the gear they need via pristine relics and the new laurels. Not many players bring a character into the higher realm of fractals (40+) so having 35 agony resist on multiple characters isn't really necessary.

The addition of amulets was nice but I really don't think the earrings are much of a bargain. 40 laurels + 50 ectos for something I can't even infuse? And from my experience I doubt 40 agony resist will prevent the need for the 99% res trick at maw. 45 agony resist? Maybe, but that information is still a month away thanks to being able to only get 1 laurel a day +10 more for my monthly.

Rings should be salvageable! Even if we have to go through the same process as breaking down shards of mist essence in the mystic forge, that same process should be permissible for any of the ascended drop items. Why not?

Pristine fractal relics should be a currency used to purchase amulets and earrings. I don't understand why this is not already installed since as stated above there are undoubtedly hordes of players with an ample supply of pristine relics collecting dust and growing in size.

I know anet is still working on the whole ascended gear collection however I can't help but feel that there should have been just a little more planning and forethought in place when and as these items are introduced. Just my $.02.

They should really be salvageable, even if its just for more shards or something.

I do 26+ fractals almost exclusively now for dailies. I have no interest in uninfused rings, and really only do it anymore for regular relics to convert to skill points, and fractal weapon skins. But apparently those drop quickly at first, then VERY slowly from then on. Not to mention the standard relic income is much better for higher levels as well.

I'll do lower levels to get my mesmer up in the ranks (currently at level 12 with 25AR :P) but i'll immediately merchant any ring I get except for a crystalline band/red ring of death. My shoutheal warrior already has her healing signet/Druid's circle infused and ready to go. Thief needs crystalline, mesmer needs both crystalline and red ring to be BiS. Guardian is all set. Right now I get pissed off if I get a vial drop in 20+...one shard is worth 9 vials. Give me a shard, damn it.

So you don't think that ascended gear should be tradable on the TP but your complaining you have nothing to do with the rings? I bet there are a lot of players that would pay you quite a bit for them. Shame you think it's a bad idea.

I learn something new every day.  It blows my mind this can happen with the most desirable in slot items in the game.

If it makes anyone feel any better I have not a single Ascended item on my account, so maybe that will make you feel better?
