Try D/D arcane blast, arcane wave, and the movement speed signet (switch to arcane shield when doing a skill challenge). Use arcane blast and wave while in your fire field. (this build will allow you to one-shot everything while you level)

For traits just make sure you have the one that lowers arcane cooldowns.

So like this?

Or can you fix the traits tree for me?

I never played any other class besides thief. First time Ele

Seems fine to me, anything goes when leveling a new character, but I try to make it as quickly as possible. I actually think the ele is able to level the fastest from 1-79 due to having the most mobility (maybe 2nd most) and having the most burst damage (maybe the 2nd most).

It was probably the most fun leveling too.

Some time ago I wrote a response on a thread asking for advise on easing into an elementalist and some parts of that thread may be helpful to you:

When it comes to builds, you will get varying opinions on how to trait as you level. Personally I went down the defensive route, traiting into Water, Arcana and a little into Earth and Air, never going into Fire. There isn't one correct way to do it however and bear in mind that the trait manuals and your level also limit the number of points you can put into each tree during the process of leveling. It's good to have a final build in mind, but it would look very different to what you have when leveling.
