I just read the patch notes for the last patch.  I was wondering what exploit they were patching with the Guild Bank.  Then it hit me....DUH!  Could it be Gold Sellers?

I know if I want to sell an Item to a guildie or loan someone money (mostly for them getting "Golden" title)  we use the Guild Bank.  This has become a common practice since Anet started banning people for large money transfers in the mail.

Was this how gold sellers were getting away with selling in GW2 gold?

1.  Gold Sellers sell you the gold on-line for real money
2.  They Invite you to a guild that only the Gold Seller and you were members
3.  Gold seller deposits the coin in the guild bank.
4.  You with draw the funds.
5.  They kick you from the guild or you resign.

Tada... I never thought about it before. Duh!

Are there any other loopholes like this?

this seems very tin foil hat to me, but I wouldn't put it past the realm of possibility.

Well, there has to be some reason why they put the new restriction on guild banks. There has always been a waiting time for trading in GW2, the guild bank was a way around that.

Works for thwarting guild bank looters too.

Latest update is:

In order to address certain exploits, the following changes have been made to summoning Guild Vault Transports:
  • Guild Vault Transports are now unlocked with Economy level 5 instead of Economy level 2. The cost has been increased from 50 influence to 1 Guild Merit and 50 influence.
  • Guild Vault Transports can no longer be summoned in instances.

It seems that vault transports were used for something too.

It have it farily harsh startup cost (guild progressed all the way to guild missions instead of spending 1500 influence to unlock.)

And inability to use it in instances.

It looks as if people used vault transport in instances for purporse. Could it have been duping? (Two guildies enter instance, open guild valut and withdraw item, but since they are in instance something breaks up with withdrawing and they could withdraw item multiple times?)

And higher costs seem to indicate some sort of laundering - Create guild, deposit/withdraw item through guild bank, disband guild - boom, transaction history is gone.

Looks like I'm not the only one with a tin foil hat.  ;)

Did they ever tell anyone what the bans were about?
