I actually couldn't wait.   Then I read further on the official forums...the more I read, the more I couldn't care, threads of wealth 200g+Does this mean game over for me?  The no-subscription isn't applicable.  I used to play GW1 purely for dungeon funnage.  Christ, I started GW YEARS after folks and got 50/50 based solely on fun, help and not wealth (FUN being the main).

Why would it? There's next to nothing to spend that money on. Exotic gear is still the standard for now, you can still do dungeons and play the game and not have money dictate what you can do.

The reason people have 200+ gold in the first place is simply because there's nothing to buy.

So.... you're asking if you're too far behind to catch up in gold after taking a break? I'm not quiet sure what you're saying, you're not being very clear.

If you want to play purely for fun, go right ahead.... dungeons are generally profitable so you don't have to worry about gold upkeep while doing them. And there's not a huge need/use for gold in the first place.

Seconded.

OP did you forget to English?

You are fooling yourself, user. Nothing here is what it seems. ANet is not the plucky hero, Guru is not an evil empire, and this is not the grand arena.

Worry not about the wealth of others. Every game eventually reaches the end of its life cycle at which point even the greatest riches and the most leet gear is worth nothing but a memory. So have fun, and make *your* memory of the game a good one.

I would have bought a sRPG if I had known it would be like this.

Yes, you and Arewn are right, that's my problem.  The other posters must be linguists I guess?

Another thing putting me off is that my entire Guild has moved to a different server so I think if I want to catch up with them I'll need to pay some cash :(

I feel you man. I too am way too poor to acomodate my ambition and greed. I see people prancing with their Legendaries or saying they have too much money. Then when look at my small wealth (the whole 20 silver of it), I ask myself: what am I doing wrong?

Now I do dungeons for money, or plan my time around making money, so I can acomodate my not-so-realistic goals. Is a Foefire Weapon really too much to ask?

You need to put in the effort to get what you want. If you expect people to hand you things that other people put in hundreds of hours to get (or thousands, by now), you're going to be disappointed.

It does suck, but overall time will make it less of a problem. I have around 35-40g on all my characters I'm a very casual player it took awhile to really get that amount. I just tell myself I never really planned on getting a legendary and for the time I have I'm doing pretty all right for what I need. If you chain run instances you'll usually make more which is a problem IMO, but if you have the time that'll help. You can also plan on doing some of the big bosses in the level 80 areas once a day that'll bring in usually 50s a day. I wish doing achievements or other things in game actually gave you decent money, but right now that's about all ya got.

I'm not sure why you need 200+ gold. I've never banked more than 20 gold, but I have four level 80s in full exotics and nice runes/sigils on all of them. Start running dungeons. You'll get "free" gear through tokens and quite a bit of gold, too. And don't worry about how rich or poor anyone else is.

Don't think you're being left behind. You don't need gold to have fun.

Thing is though in GW1 I played like a maniac to get 50/50.  Maybe that's my problem?  Feeling like I have to do the same in GW2 and realising the goals are too steep to do all over again?  I picture it in my mind playing with my toons but I always get to a certain point of the download  and decide, nah.  Maybe I should be lying down on a couch for this? :P

I guess you're a goal-oriented player? I'm not sure what makes you think the goals are steeper in GW2 than GW1. I guess I should ask, which of your goals do you feel hung-up on? And if you need to chase goals to have fun, try adding a mix of short-term goals in with your long-term goals.

It may seem silly, but I keep a little .txt file for each of my characters. I list out all the gear I want for them, cosmetics and stats. That way I can still keep and eye on my "checklist" as I bounce between characters. And many goals intertwine between characters (like leveling my Elementalist while earning gear for my Mesmer in TA).

If you're feeling overwhelmed or left behind, try just having fun and focusing on short-term goals for a while.

Hi, thanks for reply, I actually went the whole hog, re-installed, caught up with my Guildies (which was fun).  But sadly there was nothing other than that (no spark anymore).  I ran around a while and map travelled but there's nothing I want to achieve.  Is it my fault of obtaining 50/50?  The game still looks really good in parts but the desire just isn't there.Tbh if it wasn't for Guildies I'd uninstall again.

You're fault for obtaining 50/50? Nah. I mean, you might be a little burned out, but playing casually or taking breaks can fix that.

Honestly, if you had fun with guildies, then focus on that. Don't worry about chasing anything. Just log on once or twice a week when you've got a bunch of friends on and tag along with them.

Or take a break again. That never hurts, and you can come back for holiday events. :)

Why would you measure your enjoyment of the game based on an artificial yardstick that didn't exist before GW2 ? Nobody really cared about HOM before GW2 was announced. It sounds like you liked GW1 mainly because you could achieve certain goals, and now that you can't in GW2, your enjoyment is curtailed? Sucks to be you man.
