an’t possibly be the only female to experience this.
It makes me ill to experience this.
So: the gaming world comprises of more than just males.
I don’t think this issue being taken seriously.
1. No the gaming world does not comprise of only males,
2. Yes, gender tropes are indeed offensive
3. Males do not have a position of superiority.
4. Being a minority does make us lesser players ( I dare you to 1v1 me).
I have been playing since pre-release and I am sick of of the way I am spoken to on guild chat, map chat, and all voip interfaces. I play this games still because i am generally better than most players but in a social environment I nonetheless have to deal with scorn, ridicule and plain ignorance.: it’s not a boys club any longer.
So for the time being I will continue to kick your kitten in sPvP and WvW. Until I get bored and move on to another game.
Troll away.
But Anet: want to lose a significant part of your market share? You’re doing an awesome job.

How is it Anet's fault that someone says something you don't like in a chat box? Does Anet ask you your gender, then give you insulting in-game messages periodically if you answered female? Get over it. Nobody really cares if you're male, female, cyborg, alien (well, those last two might give people pause), you're a gamer. If you don't like people's freedom of speech, feel free to not tell them you're a woman.

BTW you're not helping the situation by drawing attention to it. "Like a woman". (that was intended for effect, and is not indicative of my true opinions.)

I'm glad you feel that way. It's good to have opinions. But making a whinge thread simply because someone said something you didn't like isn't going to help anything. It's only going to incite those trolls to continue their beratement. If it matters that much to you, leave your guild, join another one, and don't tell anyone your gender. I don't see why you would in the first place, knowing the risk of getting these comments, unless you're simply looking to start drama.

My guild has at least three known female players in it, and none of them get any sort of misogynist comments. Perhaps you've joined a guild of 12 year old boys who can't control themselves enough to be respectful towards others. CHANGE THE ENVIRONMENT. Posting a thread on guru isn't going to do that. especially when in the process you're saying you can beat them up (in-game). You're obviously angry, trolls out there know this, and will take advantage.

Why are you in a guild with misogynist a-holes? This isn't Arenanet's fault that you're in a guild with people that are rude to you based on your gender. But if players are just insulting you in mapchat why not just report them?

Hmmmm.... It sounds like something happened recently that was the straw on the camel's back.

I'm a woman and I haven't encountered any kind of gender bias either from other players or from the content of GW2.  In fact, often when dudes find out I'm a chick who likes to game they find it really cool. There are other women in my guild and no one treats them any different.  In fact, one of our guild founders is a woman.

Not quite sure what you're referring to with Anet - Do you have specific examples?

Fixed. Baiting it just to report it is almost as much of an asshole maneuver as saying it directly.

LOL - I could use that same argument for the myraid of things people complain about in this forum :D  But the response I get is, "No one will fix it if people don't complain about it." Which is true to a certain level.

I like how you copy pasted the whole thing here, including the moderator note at the end where they removed it.

If all you want to do is complain (which is all your post is) you should do that elsewhere. Otherwise, if you'd like to present a cogent argument rather than just stamping your feet in disgust, you're welcome to post here. After you've spoken with a moderator or administrator and asked for permission to re-post, that is.

You are fooling yourself, user. Nothing here is what it seems. ANet is not the plucky hero, Guru is not an evil empire, and this is not the grand arena.

Questions about moderation? For the love of Balthazar ask them here!
