Been playing since 3-day early release.  Got to 80, did a bunch of dungeons, half like half of a T3 cultural armor set, but I have no drive to keep going.  I did the whole krakan map (or however it's spelled).

So I been not really playing for the past 5 or so months.  So tell me, why should I come back to play Flame and Frost?  What is there to reel me in?  What rewards await me for going the distance?

You would only want to come back if you're interested in the story that they're writing.  The rewards aren't spectacular or anything.

Also, it's not really "going the distance".  The story doesn't take long to get through.  Might take you a few hours to earn the achievements, and they've added some events to Wayfarer and Diessa.

You won't find any shiny new trinkets right now in game (except gem store). And you won't find any really challenging fights. But you will find a developing storyline that in my opinion is already better than the last 40 level's story line.

So all I'm hearing is that I'm doing an interactive book.  I hate reading (despite I am well versed and articulate), thus I don't even read books or novels.  Therefore I see no reason to get into flame and frost.

We need an expansion, or something like FoW, UW, or DoA, etc.  At least if I want, I can get a new pet at that krakan map with my ranger.

Yeah, there's really no reason to come back to this game. Flame and Frost is disappointing; its basically two short storyline instances that take no longer than 20 minutes each.

Quick clarification from my viewpoint:  If you left for any reason, Flame and Frost doesn't give a reason to come back.

Personally, I enjoyed the story pieces (as short as they were), the new events that brought life to the low-level areas, and the lore from the dead drops that went with the Secret Agent achievement.

If you're into that sort of thing.  I haven't paid for gems since I bought the game, and it hasn't harmed my gameplay at all.

Yeah, there's really no reason for you to come back.  Interactive book implies good writing, which is not present in Frost and Flame.  It's basically just "Dredge and Flame legion are bad!  Go kill them!" and then you just slog through some waves of enemies for an achievement point.  The whole thing takes less than an hour.

The main reason they're doing it is to put more items in the gem store to milk their addicts.

It sound like there are a lot of vid skippers on this thread. Because the story line developing involving Eir has depth to it. I won't give away any spoilers but I recommend playing the game without skipping all the story cut scenes and you might find that there is more to GW2 than previously thought.

Srsly the gem store items can be farmed withing a day. No need to spend any real money.
As for the story, one momentum got me interested and it's Eir's son showing up. Who knew she was a wild cat ;).
The cub charr is still nice part... the only instances I've enjoyed from this story line. The Preludes were damn too long and just a 1hour grind fest - kill this, give that.
I wanna see how huge the difference the final plot will do to the world...

He he ...If I want a really nice story I read a book. The rewards in GW2 "Flame and Frost" are not very good but it is some thing to break the booooring dailies.  :)
Really I do not know why I keep playing GW2? But I do. :)

Because unless you know where to go (dulfy's site) you have no goddamned idea where all the content of Flame and Frost is or how to access it.

He wants people to make a case because he might be missing crucial information in his personal arguments.

He's not some special snowflake, people should have to convince him to play the game. He can look up that info himself, it's not like it's hard to find. This thread just reeks of attention whoring.

Yeah, what the hell.

3x the content of Frost and Flame, actually brings new gameplay to GW2, and you can grind out some shiny new skins. Did people already forget about it?

Not that you'll have anywhere to use those skins...

Wait, are you asking if Flame & Frost's story is worth it, or if the non-story content that came with F&F's patch is worth it? Because people's replies in this thread have mostly dealt with story content, but it seems like you're asking for content like FoW, UW and DoA.

Because there's a lot of new content. To mention a few, there's laurels to get for with dailies and monthlies for ascended gear, and there's guild missions to do (which are meant to be challenging) for even more ascended gear. World bosses now give you at least one gold loot per day. Orrian Temple bosses have been revamped and are now challenging. And you should also try fractals dungeon in Lion's Arch, even though it has been out since the time you've been playing. Outside of PvE, WvW has been improved with a new progression system and the removal of culling, and pvp has matchmaking and leaderboards now.

They are releasing new PvE content on a consistent, monthly basis.  That's more than was originally promised and I am satisfied.

I think we can all agree, however, that they might take time out from regular snacks to cook a meal.  Since they can largely repeat (not verbatim of course) holiday festivities; they can take some time this fall to prep a larger expanded content package.  I hope they are already working on this; though I expect more mini-expansions are on tap.

At this point, I don't think I'd come back to this game until they release a new campaign or expansion. Hopefully with new professions but I'd buy it either way.

Hmmm I come and see more replies, expected this to be dead but i'm pleasantly surprised.

I think free expansions should be more along the lines of War in Kryta and Winds of Change.  In there, after the story-line (which I did actually enjoy to an extent) you had goodies waiting for you at the end and usually something that you would have permanently (for both of those, it was new heroes!  Man it took me so long to get groups for HM winds of change to get the rit hero but it was worth it <3 )

Again I go back to the krakan map, at the very least it has a new pet, even if it is not a new category of pet (WHERE ARE MY CRAB PETS, ANET?).  Yet I was expecting a bit more to be perfectly honest, like a set of krakan themed weapons and such where you'd have to get their shells and such to create them with, or something along those lines.

This may sound like blasphemy, but NONE of the legendary items really interest me.  I saw those firey weapons in the black lion chest and thought "oh those are neat!" but again, gotta spend dat money.

RIFT would be better suited for you. For some reason this game just doesn't have the flare and glamor and glaze like GW1 did. It just feels redundant and linear and really even easier.

Umm...how can I put this delicately...

You're not nearly as eloquent as you think you are.  I'm not saying that playing through the GW2 story will fix your grammatical and rhetorical shortcomings, but you may not want to be so averse to any continuing education.  Even if you were perfectly eloquent and adept in literary composition, there's always a good reason to seek higher learning.

As of right now I'd only play Flame and Frost if you're interested in seeing the GW2 story develop piece by piece. I don't find it interesting, but there's always a chance it could turn into something interesting later on and since it is so incredibly short and requires next to no effort, there is nothing lost if you decide to complete the little content there is for it right now.

Super Adventure Box is really nice though IMO, and more fun than a lot of the content that game has to offer. I'd at least check it out before the end of the month.
