Do infused items retain their ascended infusion?
eg. If I have an ascended backpiece and place an infusion in it, then I make the backpiece infused, will my infusion still be there?
Can't find the answer anywhere and I don't feel like wasting a stack of ecto. I don't have said backpiece yet but I figured it's better to know before I plan my investments.

No, it will wipe out the existing infusion and give you a 'clean' infused item with an empty infusion slot.

Thanks! So there is no point in planting fine infusion in ascended back item. And the thread can be tagged as answered.

To be fair, I threw a Versatile Simple Infusion in my uninfused items, since it's not a big loss when it gets wiped out and it helps you get more ascended gear. Anything more expensive would be sad to lose, though.
