Hey guys, I haven't been on here since last november and trying to get back into the game I realized I have no idea how to get back on track with farming gold and all that good stuff, can someone please just give me an idea of where the best places to farm are at the moment? I'm still trying to get the world map completion and work on a legendary item as well.

I've been farming Citadel of Flames path 1 every 30 minutes or so with alts for 60 tokens and half a gold or more. You can exchange the tokens to a vendor for level 70 rares that can be salvaged for a chance at ectoplasm. Gives about 1g per 10 minutes. Note: you must wait 30 minutes inbetween runs or there's a reduced reward (less tokens), regardless of whether you switched characters or not. Can still be failry effective even if you just run for gold without regard for the tokens.

I Farm Citadel of Flames P1 packing a few Omnomberry Bars with me for more money (they cost like 3s only). Sometimes when I can't constantly concentrate on the game I farm Karkas, they give karka shells worth 5-7s each and also Powerful Blood worth 30s.

I've been doing this for the past 3 months and almost done with my legendary. It can be boring at times but it's good money if you're willing.

The best way to make gold is to buy gems from the gem store and convert it to gold. You probably make way more money per hour working IRL than the equivalent of what it would take you to do it in this game.

Of course, most of the good stuff in this game you can't buy on the TP - so gold doesn't really get you very far. For anything remotely interesting or fun, you will need to farm the crap out of some kind of token(s) for days.

This is true. For most people working a full time job, dropping RL cash on gems is not so hard. There will be the argument that it is stupid to spend RL cash on a game, although arguably spending an excessive amount of time farming in a game may also not be a wise move. It's really a debate of 'your money or your life'. Time may be better spent on other things in life rather than farming in game. So if a game is not fun because we are mindlessly farming, then we should look elsewhere.

Other than that however, the suggestions of farming COF are sound and I know of people who made their in-game riches that way. The other is being savvy with the trading post with flipping and investing, and yet another relies completely on RNG: getting hyper lucky at obtaining phat lewt (eg. precursors, expensive exotics or skins, or other rare materials such as lodestones) by pure chance, with minimal effort and turning it into a profit by selling on the TP.

Yes, if you are going to do it ingame. CoF, Fractals and playing the TP are the best ways to make gold.

In my honest opinion I decided I would rather buy gems than farm. Time to me is more precious than money anyway, and I feel it's OK. Some people wont find that a good enough reason, but I will never farm, end of story. ANet gave us a choice, farm or pay RL money. As sly as it is, at least they are honest about it. And I chose RL money for the bigger investments.

Gems is the way to go if you want much money at the blink of an eye. If you don't like that I'd suggest CoF or if you're good at it you can play the TP(never done that myself, not good at it).
