As I’m sure some of you are awear there is an event in the Temple of Lyssa that has become a popular farming exploit.
This exploit is now preventing players from finishing one of the few, well designed and balanced (Save for a few tweaks) events in GW2.
I’d like to put out a call to all my fellow GW2 players to put an end to this by completing the event. You’ll be doing your part for the community to keep inflation down, and you’ll be trolling a bunch of farmers at the same time.
Best of all you’ll get to experiance one of the better challenges GW2 has to offer.
For more details on how to do stop this farm, and on the lyssa event itself, check out this video guide here:

http://youtu.be/qbme67arzOQ

Thanks again guys, See you in game.

Not an exploit but farming an event shouldn't take priority over players who want to complete it. These jerks got what they deserved. However, I do take issue with your vitriol towards farmers in general, particularly since A-Net has said that they consider farming to be a valid method of playing GW2.

Wouldn't DR kick in fairly quickly, making that farm pretty meh?

I got nothing against farming, I did mention I was surprised farmers didn't want us to clear the event as the mobs that spawn afterwards are great farming for t6 lodestones.
People exploiting the games mechanics for profit (MF leaching, Event Exploiting, Karma exploits etc.) I have nothing short of utter contempt for though.

You'd think so wouldn't you? Maybe they know something we don't.

Why does it bother you how people choose to play the game?

Remember the Plinx chain? They will choose decrease the spawn rate of the risen or how often it reset. :)

And the Kessex hill Centaur event on the bridge.

They must consider this an exploit and not just farming based off where they moved your post to.  It looks like the glitch that happened in the grenth chain where players would farm mobs around the cannon, guess nothing came of that though.

Just tried this for a bit (about an hour). Didn't seem to experience any DR but that just may be due to not having done it for long enough. What's hilarious about this event is that not only does it seem to scale with the amount of players but with the amount of walls destroyed too, so this is essentially a farm in which players can actively modulate how many spawns they want. Yea I don't see this lasting very long before the nerf-hammer comes.

What is annoying is that it prevents access to Lyssa karma vendor which has very usefull items.

Only because from ArenaNet's perspective, farming should be a grind and never more rewarding than converting cash to gems to gold.

The amount of return this has managed to create goes against their cash shop model, so it's more likely an unintended bug than exploit.
It's okay to enjoy crap if you're willing to admit it's crap.
Every patch is like ArenaNet walking out onto the stage of the International Don't Kitten Up Championship, and then proceeding to shiv itself in the stomach 30 times while screaming "IT'S FOR YOUR OWN GOOD! IT'S FOR YOUR OWN GOOD!"

From watching the video while I do agree it's an exploit the worst part was the farmers insulting the players that did the event. Personally this would tick me off too, and probably get me to keep completing  it even when I don't generally majorly push temples.

So this is the "secret farming event" my guild have been doing.

Apparently they weren't allowed to talk about it in guild chat and only Mumble. I thought it was baseless paranoia because there's nothing the forums won't already know. I never thought they were actively exploiting the game.

Well I think I've got a date with Lyssa!

Mmmm!  That was fun!  For people that supposedly didn't need the money they got pretty vocal when the walls started coming down. ^_^

It's like farming any other event, not really an exploit. Although it does block people from finishing Lyssa...which leads to the spawns of sparks...which are good to farm for Charged Lodestones lol

Either way, ANet made gold making a bitch in this game. So I don't blame the players.

Actually, it's more like if other people stopped the waypoints opening to farm the Charr there and he opens them BECAUSE THAT'S HOW THE GAME IS PLAYED! I'm not missing out on a Lyssa vendor because you think bundling undead and glitching the event is good money.

Duuude!  Think of all those poor farmers standing there in T3 and swinging legendary weapons!  You can come back and do the event to get your armor after Anet nerfs it!  Those people need money!  ;)

Is the Lyssa vendor that unique?

I don't have a horse in this race since I rarely have time for grindy farms; but you make it sound like they are blocking the gates of paradise.

Unless they are doing something to actively stop people from doing the event they are doing nothing wrong.  They are just taking advantage of a quick respawn to kill more enemies.   What you did is hilarious and all and their reaction is quite funny and uncalled for, it is an event and therefore should be completed, but I don't see why anyone would be punished for participating in this.  The only problem here is that the people that are farming think they have the right to tell you to stop doing event.

I remember going to Frost Gorge and farming the "incoming" spawns during Phase one late at night when no one was around.  Since there weren't enough people to take down the wall and damage Jormag the spawns would keep coming, it was a great place to farm corrupted lodestones.  When enough people finally decided to take him down I got my chest and moved on no big deal.

Not overly, However if you have karma to burn it's a great way to get lyssa runes cheaper then the TP if you're after them.

The underlying issue here is not the gold making part of the exploit. There will always be a fast way to make money with a game this large.

The issue here is that people are actively preventing the quest from completing, when there are 50 people at the event, it scales so heavily that it becomes near impossible to do with a group of 5-10, especially if those players then move to scale other events so that the north one can reset.

It's the intentional prevention of players completing this event, and the line has to stop somewhere.

If there was an event that opened Arah, and people found out that they could farm that more effectively than here at Lyssa, should the people going for Dungeon Master or wishing to complete their Personal Story just sit back and suck their thumbs? No, and it's immature and disgusting that people have this mindset, even if this is a less drastic scenario than that.

And to the people whose response is, "Just move to a different server, nab." No. That's just putting a rug over the elephant in the room, especially when the popularity of this exploit is rising, If there isn't a bug fix or a social change, this will soon plague all servers across the game.

To Kaaboose, as someone on Henge who attempted to do this event a few days ago, only to run into the same situation you did, I would love to join you and help do the event properly.

I'll endevor to get this done as often as I can, Speaking of putting a rug over the elephant in the room I got this from anet:

Exploiting.
That's not playing the game.

It bothers him and me as well probably because we possess a certain basic degree of ethics and morals towards even something as seemingly insignificant as games and entertainment.

Hmm, this only looks to be an exploit in the sense that they're using the mechanics to their advantage, and so I don't really have a problem with people doing this. Then again, I know I'm a little more lenient with "exploits" than some. I disagreed with ArenaNet's banning spree back when the game released too. If it's unintended by the developers and they don't like it, it's up to them to fix their game, not the players to determine what arbitrary rules they need to follow. It's not like they found an item dupe glitch or something of that sort. They're killing mobs that spawn in the game for loot, and that's hardly worthy of disdain IMHO.

At the same time, I disagree with those who'd call people out for finishing the event as well. It should be understood if participating in an event that there may be those who come along who are interested in the completion of that event. If you can't handle that, you probably should stay away from it in the first place.

Yet here it is.

What about going there and reporting everyone participating every so often?

In GW2 farming = exploiting.
Good to know.

Surely all CoF/FoTM farmers should be banned because they're much more richer than you are doing your low level events for "fun".

Normally I don't do this but... I watched your video and you sir are FAR FAR FAR FAR worse then any of these "exploiters".

Seriously who gives you the right to decide what is and is not an exploit? If you want to do the event you are surely free to complete the event. However in my mind completing the event PURELY because you don't like how people who paid the same money you did for this game choose to spend their time in it is simply acting like a huge ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. This is the in game equivalent of road rage. Seriously I don't get people like you. For someone who portends to "care about the community" you are acting an awful lot like a butthurt troll.

Even if this IS an "exploit" your role is to report it (as you did) and go back to playing your game. Anything else is up to Arenanet and not you. If anyone should be reported or banned it is YOU, because you are actively playing the game with the goal of bothering other people.
