So towards the end of the Wintersday update I decided to take a break from Gw2, I didn't think the break would be this long but I kind of just forgot about Gw2. Just earlier today I saw an hour long video on youtube recapping all thats happened within the nine months of this game's life and it got me wanting to play again. So I ran the client and it goes to update, couple seconds later my laptop crashes. I thought, oh ok, I'll just restart the laptop and do it again. It crashed again but before that I noticed a box thing that said 'Verifying Archive', I thought that was strange. I restarted again and googled to see if anyone else was having the problem, wasn't a full on in depth search but I couldn't find much. I tried one more time after and the 'Verifying Archive' box didn't show up and it went on to start updating and geez it centainly looks like I missed out on a hell of a lot because it said it had downloaded 500mb and it was only 1% done, I have a 200gb download cap so I cant just go downloadin' 500gbs worth of updates (although I doubt that is the case). Then guess what... it crashed my whole computer, again. So, my patience is now depleted and I come here seeking guidance. Please, masters of the interwebzzzz, save me. I was thinking of just reinstalling the whole thing from the disk but I don't really want to. So if there is another way, I'd love to know about it :)

Thanks guys in advance

You've answered your own question. Stop wasting your time, delete the entire game and redownload it. Leave it overnight and during the day and you may be able to play the following night.

Also, why post a technical question on the Guru forums on not on the actual Guild Wars 2 support forums? http://forum.guildwars2.com

I know that is a way to fix the problem but I want to know if there's another way because as you said, reinstalling would take a while. Also, how big do you think all the updates would be? And I didn't think about posting on the support forums.

Just save yourself the trouble and play something else. This may not be the first technical issue and it won't be the last.

Not to mention that ArenaNet isn't worth your efforts.

I think the client only got bigger a couple of Gb since launch, not alot.
Btw the progress bar is based on files that are done/total files. It happens alot to me that the first file is very big and takes ~5minutes and then the other 99% is done in a few seconds.

Just save yourself the trouble and reinstall. This may be the last technical issue you will experience.

Not to mention that ArenaNet is totally worth your efforts.

I ran into a similar problem at one point.  Everyone else has already said it, scrub your current installation clean and start anew.  It is not like it takes that long in the grand scheme of things.
