https://forum-en.gui...n-today-s-patch

ArenaNet tried to play dumb at first, but the locals aren't happy.

https://forum-en.gui...-just-be-honest

https://forum-en.gui...ry-Disappointed

Needless to say, this falls under the umbrella of ArenaNet nerfing what little reward there is for the solo farming crowd.

And also my belief that ArenaNet would prefer you to spend real money to purchase its fake currency, not to have stockpiles of another fake currency to purchase the first fake currency,
It's okay to enjoy crap if you're willing to admit it's crap.
Every patch is like ArenaNet walking out onto the stage of the International Don't Kitten Up Championship, and then proceeding to shiv itself in the stomach 30 times while screaming "IT'S FOR YOUR OWN GOOD! IT'S FOR YOUR OWN GOOD!"

Appears to be so.  Mobs drop nothing now, or next to it.

It's a real shame players won't be able to greif each other over whether or not to progress an event anymore. At least there are still forums for that purpose.

They want you to finished the event, not farm the event. I think that is the point that is missing from the people on the official forums.

Yeah, they've always been against crowd farming like this, remember the whole troll farming fiasco 1/2 weeks into release?

though I was happy with lower t6 mat costs (still farming for legendary) and a way to farm for t6 mats easily and effortlessly, this nerf is ultimately for the best, lyssa farming is braindead to the 10th degree

on a different note, the official forums are terrible, justification for the lyssa event farming is so weak yet the majority still seems to defend it.

Finally. This had no right to be in the game in the first place. Dunno why it took them so long..

It could of been bot-able place; yes, you can bot the whole game. You were gaining to much without to much effort.

Indeed, I've farmed the spot once (for about an hour), damn it was boring, got 150 bags though, there was like a hundred people there too, there was one guy using a macro for picking up items so whenever he typed it would be something like, "doffffnt kfffillfff tfffheff wffafffllfffs"

and though I've never had the opportunity to meet the scumbags who were harassing people trying to complete the event, one of my guildies did and she said it was a terrible sight to see :(

it was an exploit, they kinda didnt want to air it out or acknowledge it to the public, the people that did notice was the lyssa farmer, they could of waited for the may 28th update to keep it in there.

in other words, it wont give people any more idea to do it again or find another event but that kinda of thinking is flawed tho.

They never tell us if they fix exploits, or at least not which and how.

Another thing to keep in mind is the fact that this actually HAVE nothing to do with the patch, since they don't patch drop-chance. So all this whining about them "leaving stuff out of the patch notes" is just silly and uninformed.
The patch added nothing as they said. They did however change the drop-chance about the same time in order to close and exploit.

Well I was 11 days off with my prediction. To those that told me I was wrong and this would never happen: Your move.

Quote

There were an excessive number of bots at that location on several servers, so the spawns during the event (only) had their loot reduced. No changes were made to any creature outside the event, including wraiths in other locations. We tried to find the simplest, safest change possible. I hope that answers the question, but I really don’t want to get into a debate about “What is farming?” or “Does farming hurt the economy?” or “Economy? It’s a game, who cares?”

yeah, and the right way to do that is by making mobs drop no loot, god forbit if we have a certain amount of time to finish the event.

You need to realize, some of the player base (a large amount of "some" to) enjoys farming. Its what they like, who is anyone to tell them otherwise?

Cof p1 deserves more a nerf than any of the world events, yet there it stands. why isnt this a motive for a forum war?

Well get underwater in Southsun Shore and start killing sharks. You're not stopping people from completing an event and you get your loot. There are many, many options of farming in the game.

Also, your instanced dungeon doesn't affect my instanced dungeon. Your open world on my server DOES affect my open world.

And to top it off CoF is an easy dungeon to do anyways, its not the hardest one in the game either. Its the elitist people that dont want newbs on the speed run, you cant fix that in people.

CoF P1 needs more than just a quick exploit fix. It has a flaw in its design (with how easy it is) and needs a lot more work to fix it without completely destroying it for non-farmers.

And if you really enjoy farming, go farm. Nobody is preventing you from farming. They are just preventing you from exploiting something that was overlooked.

i dont enjoy farm, i dont even run cof. But some people do. and removing loot from enemies is a cheap lame "solution".

they are preventing an exploit which is good, but they're also preventing rewards from doing the event, because killing a enemy in any mmorpg/rpg has an implied reward, even if its just some copper, and that is a bad thing.

im not saying it didnt need a fix, im saying the fix sucked. nothing new there though.

Remmember the excuse for having DR? the bots.. the bots are now gone, DR remains.

The main rewards for that event is the karma vendor and the chest from the Priestess, not the unlimited supply of adds in an exploitable event.
How else would you fix it? Remove the adds?

Bots are never gone. And no, the DR was not put there only for bots, it was also put there to lessen the effects on the economy by exploits. And bots and exploits is most likely NEVER completely gone.

what about reading the first post i made? add a timer. its simple and doesnt hurt anyone.

The main reward is a karma vendor-> your oppinion.

And the chest -> again, your oppinion.

BTW, you dont need to quote when you're replying to the previous post.

And what would happen when the timer was up? Failed event? And how would that effect the rest of the events? Would you have to redo all the pre-events again?

No, it is not an opinion it is fact. The main rewards for the events are the unlocked Karma vendor and the chest.

it wouldnt be the first event to have a timer. yeah failed event or whatever they came up with, why not?

Its not a fact, its your oppinion. if someone doesnt need anything from that karma vendor its not a reward is it? the chest could be if the drops were in tune with the event difficulty.

Indeed, but it would be the first event that was part of a chain that required several events completed at the same time.
Putting a timer on one them would most likely require rebuilding the whole meta-event.

So, if I win a race and get a gold medal, but I don't need the gold medal, the gold medal would not be a reward?

So? im all up for upping the difficulty around the game. right now its a walk in the park wherever we go. A timer on the wall breaking event would not be a big deal, the hitboxes are huge and they go down quite fast.

Thats not even remotelly close to be relatable as an example...

Of course they will. IF people hit the damn walls. That is the whole issue. People weren't, they were killing the endless spawn of mobs.

you're going in circles now... we all agree closing the exploit was a good thing... the main gripe i see is that this farmers were being rude to people who wanted to complete the event. they werent even preventing event completion from what i understand.

if people want to complete it, they will hit the walls, give them 5 minutes or it fails. this ends the exploit and doesnt hinder event rewards.

The actual problem:
The massive majority of the game is utterly unrewarding.

A.Net's solution:
Remove even more drops.

EDIT:
Also, the guy spent 1k bucks on gems!
