Probably an odd question, since I'm guessing that if you don't play GW2, you also don't really read the forums to respond to this question, but do you still play GW2, and why?  (Just a little curious as to what motivates other players).

As for me, I'm still playing because I'm still working on my legendary.

I am still playing because I enjoy the game.  I love to speed run dungeons, I love Guild Missions, Doing things in general with my guild, Fractals is still a blast. Gear Chasing in the sense of coming up with more and more different types of armor combinations.  Pretty much everything I've been doing since the game came out. =)

I don't, at least atm. It's been about a month since i've really played the game. Honestly I was just bored. For me the only thing to really grind for was legendaries and that was still kinda meh. I plan on playing again when that dragon bash thing starts and I've decided when I do I'm going to pick my thief back up and really learn to play it since I really enjoyed it.

All that said I'd probably enjoy the game a lot more if I got more involved in my guild/s activities and the community in general.

Every few months I'll log on, see that it's the same shallow gameplay, then log off.

I still log in every day mainly to chat with my friends who still play.  don't really do much anymore, but still log on and goof around with world events for an hour or so.

Very little. Every day it's like a debate with myself, asking myself what reason I might have to log in. Sometimes I get a "high tide" of motivation where I'll log in and do a few things, but I inevitably get tired of endlessly spamming the same ten weapon skills (and it has to be those ten, as the other weapons are even worse/more boring).

There are no armor skins I want, no weapon skins I could ever actually get with a reasonable amount of effort, and the content-based goals are just a chore. I haven't finished the personal story and have no desire to, I can't finish mapping Straits of Devastation because there is never, ever, ever anyone there to help take the Balthazar temple. Even if I could, it wouldn't matter because I hate WvW so much I'd never complete the mapping there anyway.

I'm tired of taking 10 minutes to kill a ridiculous damage-sponge world boss only to be "rewarded" by an endless stream of worthless blues and greens. All guilds are filled with foul-mouthed teenage brats who expect me to get on voicechat and listen to their harangue even while doing content that in no way requires close coordination (almost all PvE, in other words). I've done all the dungeoning I care to, was dissuaded from ever even trying fractals due to the elitism and gearcheck...I could go on, but I'm sure you get the idea.

I don't usually permit myself the luxury of such unfocused whining (as opposed to more specific point-by-point whining, which I do a lot of), but you asked, so.

I usually log in to do my dailies, do some rqandom crap with whatever guildees that are online (PvP, WvW, Orr Sttaues, NULL) then log off.
The only reason I really come back is for my guild, because I still hold a sliver of hope that Anet will get back to their manifesto promises and because there is no real competition to the dynamic feel of GW2.
The second an MMO delivers what Anet offered in their manifesto almost 2 years ago now I'm out of here.

I'm playing GW2 because I'm waiting for Aion 4.0 to be release, I needed a game while waiting to get to the 26th of June.
I played GW2 when was released but I did not like it  so I left and continued to play Aion. I started to play GW2 again when Aion went all PvP on my playing time ....I do not like PvP!

GW2 is a nice game with awesome graphics but awful drops I get no satisfaction ....! :) Plus getting the legendary is a grinding nightmare for just  the look of an item with no better stats.

He...he...he.. to everybody their game then.

i still play GW2 - not everyday because i just cant due to long hours at work, but i have three days off and i spend a lot of time in the game and i love it.

im doing fractals atm and having a blast, its one of those, youve got to participate in it to understand the feeling type feelings.  fractals really push me to a heightened state of play and that coupled with the immense enjoyment i get from playing my class (Thief) its really just taking all of my time atm.

the few weapon skills dont bother me, i like a small set of skills that you have to think about when to use at the best times etc.

i have yet to even step foot in WvW so there is an entirely new game in there.

im still working on 100% world completion im at 82% currently

i still need to finish this characters personal story.

i LOVE running dungeons.  its what i live for in these types of games.

overall there is just so much for me to do in this game.  my guildies do guild events all the time, we do fractals, guild bounties, hell they got a group to just farm in Southsun also they get groups together to capture temples in Orr.

there has just been so many content updates too that honestly with only 3 days to play, i feel like i miss out on a lot of that material.  i have never seen an mmo that has put this much content out in such a short time.

we had the Mad King event

the lost shore event

the christmas event

the easter event

the flame and frost event

the southsun event

and now the dragon bash.

all in 8 months.  thats amazing.  i have played 14 mmorpgs total in my life and in all those games i ran into players that had been playing for years and i always asked myself, how is that possible?  well i have finally found a home.  i have finally found an mmorpg that i can truly just play for the foreseeable future.  its an exciting feeling for me and i honestly just love everything about GW2.

except the RNG
and parts of the community

I'm just not motivated anymore, there's no real incentive for me to keep playing. I do log on every now and then but after a few minutes I realize that this is not where I want to be really and log out.

Makes me sad, really.

I do still play quite a lot but I'm not obsessed with the game like I was 4-5 months ago.
My only real complaint about the game right now is the lack of challenge/new mechanics is starting to become a real bore.
Every new update we get it always ends up with nothing but DPSing the target to death.

Do I... no. I've taken a break. I might come back for the dragonbash but right now I have other games and other stuff to do. GW 2... simply doesn't have the staying power of its predecessor.

I've been playing frequently since beta.

My main motivation is playing with my friends.  I've got my legendary and everything I've wanted for now, so I enjoy the experience of playing with people I know.

Another thing that motivates me is that I'm a completionist, and I feel that GW2 has a lot of little things that I like to collect (achievements, weapon/armor skins, minis, etc.).  I can go without new and exciting content for a while, working on these extra goals.

I think GW1 gave you all these skills, yet you only end up using the same few.  Sure you had heroes so making builds for them added some "hours" of playtime, but that also meant that you were going to do almost "everything" alone.  I miss my ritualist, but my Mesmer main is much more powerful than the gw1 version.  You couldn't solo an entire horde  at your lvl with a gw1 caster.

We get new content every month, you can complain that you are bored, but not many games add as much content.  I realize that this game just isn't for everyone.  I also think that you have to have an appreciation for the lore, art design, and role play a bit.  If you don't at least try to get into your character a bit, then you are missing the point of a "role playing game".

If you don't like to kill monsters, or explore landscapes filled with hostile creatures they you are probably just playing to get an item, I.E.  "drops".  If you only play the game to get a "drop you can use", then you are missing the point of drops.  Any player who has developed a "maxed" character knows that you will need "particular" stats to create the build you desire.  The chances of something dropping with the exact stats you need for a specific build are next to zero.

You sell "whatever drops" to have gold and then buy the items with the stats you need.  Yet I see people always complaining about not getting a drop they "can use".  Isn't selling it a good "use"?  Anyway I'm going to have fun in this game as long as the servers are up and I still have the desire to kill stuff with magical powers, then cash in the drops to buy some new armor that has been released....  ;)

Yep.  Still play as often as possible.  Why?  Because I enjoy the game.  I enjoy watching the changes and content that the devs are putting in place.

Not odd at all, if the posting contents here are anything to go by.
Plenty of disgruntled so-called former players frequent and troll voice their opinions on these boards.

I am technically still playing, although I am on a hiatus to attend to a few important real-life matters for a couple of months (namely my son).

If this had been any other MMO, this would have basically mean I am done, as there would have been little chance for me to catch up to my peers. But I'm not getting the feeling of being left behind in GW2.

Yes, because for all it's flaws, it's still fun (most of the time).

That said, I rarely play more than a few hours at a time and I'm not driven by loot as many players seem to be, so I'm not prone to burnout or to frustration of not getting good drops like many people are.
Got any comments or queries about moderation in one of my spheres of responsibility? Make sure I get the message!

Because "killing monsters" is the same in every game.

No, I'm not particularly a fan of clicking on an enemy and sitting there waiting for it to die from auto attacks. I would call it mindnumbing but then it would at least engage the brain on a minuscule level.

I found out that the Engineer is actually more fun than my previous main, the Elementalist. I've 30 levels to go, and I'm looking forward towards getting my Corrupted Rifle, Corrupted Pistol and Destroyer Pistol. Then I've at least 2 sets of armor that I want, including some Cultural Armor to acquire.

I know that the PvE content is going to get better and better. So far we've Dungeons and Fractals (Please nerf CoF p1 so that people are encouraged to do other dungeons, one shouldn't be much more rewarding than another) and more Guild Puzzles coming up (Love those. Lots of fun) which isn't enough IMO. It will keep me busy for a few month while I'm gearing up my Engineer, but if there isn't enough PvE, or if the PvP still has the same bad reward-system, I'm going to take a break.

Still by far the best MMO out there, and it still has a long way to go.

I don't get the grindy mindset that people have. I.e. if I'm ever going for a legendary, or even something like Volcanus I'll just take my time and enjoy the journey to that goal. There's no fun in grinding CoF p1 or Cursed Shore, but it is a lot of fun to play enjoyable content with fellow guildies with a big goal that you're just longing for to complete. The game is a lot more fun if there's a goal, so what's the rush? (This is probably why I just can't stand sPvP - It feels so pointless)

Yes I still play. Awkwardly...

But that's because I'm an avid roleplayer. The game is boring and has a stockpile of horrible features. Which I spent most of my waking time badtalking about them. Surely people will listen to the voice of reason.

Hadn't I found alternative ways to get my fix of accomplishment within the game, I would have moved on months ago.

Every couple of months I'll install it play for about a week then uninstall again. It's fun exploring on my alt's for a while but there's nothing that really holds me to it long term and not liking GW2's version of dungeons doesn't help.

It also gets a bit boring how all the monsters are in fields.  You go to area A. This is the Minotaur field, area B.  Skale field. etc. etc. It reminds me of Flyff's monster placement if I'm being honest. No doubt it would be hard to make all the monsters randomly patrol the map in different directions to make it feel less dull and anchored.  I suppose you can pull them out of their fields a little but most of the time you get Invulnerable/Regen/Runbacktofield

what do you mean why? I plan to play this game forever and ever as long as the server is open. I am not working on anything in particular, its just a game I choose to play, replacing Sims which i used to play, since forever ... if they don't charge a monthly fees and it continues as it is now with contents update, festival celebration, I see my plan successful.

When I stop enjoying the game I will leave and move on to something else.
