Hey all. I'd like to ask the members of gw2guru forums not to gank their other servers in EB JP unless attacked first, while the first week or so of this kite achievement is going on.

You may (or may not) recall that I am not particularly in favor of the state of EB JP, arena camping and whatnot. Much of this has improved since it's been removed from wvw proper.

However, whether you attack people in the EB JP normally, or let them pass, I'd like to ask that everyone just lets everyone else get their achievement, and move on.

I've seen (in the course of getting my own) members of a single server camping our and fighting in the arena with no provocation from my own server or the other server we are matched against. It's never been a guild team, protecting their own members, or anyone attacking after being first attacked. This was very much the same for the Aetherblade Cache, and was in fact the very same server.

While it seems JP etiquette is almost non-existant, I'd ask those of you here to do the decent thing and let people pass to get their kite. The loot you get from killing guys in the JP is paltry compared to what you get for running with your zerg, or sniping.

This is quite a check for type of community we have, because in most mmos your post would be taken as "Hello trolls, if you want to piss off a lot of people you should definitely do this!"

I'll abide.
You guys can go out and kill people like crazy anywhere else in WvW, and any other time of the year in the JP. There's no reason you guys can't give it a break for a week or so.

Got the kite by doing the JP again. I ran into players from all 3 servers and we all made it to the kite safely.

Well, I guess the problem is that usually there aren't that many people in the JP. On a normal day, without any special event, you can sometimes do the entire JP without encountering any other players if you don't join at a peak time. And even during them there's hardly more than a dozen people.
On top of that, the starting area of the JP is the only area in the game where you can die and immediately get back into action. In PvP you have the respawn timers and in the other WvW areas you have long ways. I am not surprised that some people like to play deathmatch there. That said, it usually becomes a lot better once you reached the top of the well. The majority of players will leave you alone as long as you don't attack them. If everything fails, periodically check the JP until your server has a mesmer on top of it.

But yeah, would be great if they didn't insist on putting achievements that aren't related to WvW into the Mists.

I didn't want to talk bad against a certain server but when I read my post again it did look like that. Sorry.

This is a tall task seeing as the point of it is that it is a PvP jumping puzzle. It really is only challenging with other players there as well. Add that on top of the puzzle normally being empty and you get a big draw of people who like the PvP aspect of it when the puzzle becomes populated.

Use the invisibility shrines. They are positioned in places that allow you to pretty easily get past the dangerous locations.

I do find it odd that it is included in the event though.

Nope, it's PvP (or WvWvW) in this case.

It's the big jumping puzzle in the Eternal Battlegrounds, which means you'll be shunted to your tier's WvWvW setting every single time.
It's okay to enjoy crap if you're willing to admit it's crap.
Every patch is like ArenaNet walking out onto the stage of the International Don't Kitten Up Championship, and then proceeding to shiv itself in the stomach 30 times while screaming "IT'S FOR YOUR OWN GOOD! IT'S FOR YOUR OWN GOOD!"

I must say since Anet introduced the cache and the kite in Eb jumpping puzzle i can do the daily and monthly in no time. I understand your appealing but 90% of those pve players that come to the EB jumpping puzzle have berzerker gear and go down easily. Besides they drop loot and now badges of honor are even more valuable since you can trade then for blueprints and blueprints can now be sold at TP. If things go well it´s like 10 silver before reaching the kite or even more =)

edit: I am attonished you are from my server. Dude do you do WvW? Do you at least know how nasty are some of those german and specially vizzunnah? Just take 1 or 2 hours of your time roaming in teh WvW and you will know the reason why we slaugther then at the jumpping puzzle

The invisibility shrines are not enough. This has been proven. Since the Mad King's backpiece doesn't emit light when stealthed anymore, it's near impossible to navigate your way through the "dark room" while stealthed. The closest to that you get is with a piece of undeployed siege in your hands. Whether you can manage that or not, atm I have observed a mash of people in the Arena, waiting to pull people down and kill them soon as they appear.

Yes, I do wvw during the later hours, when there's less pugs, more people using comms. If you don't like VS or River (and belive me, I do not like VS), go take one of their towers, don't take it out on the people who are in all likelyhood, that server's PvErs.

I'm guessing a people in this thread are gonna keep on doing what they're doing. Hell, if I'm attacked, I'm gonna attack them back, but don't go out of your way to ruin other people's fun.

I ran the JP last night twice. The first time I died because a few Henge of Denravi guys ganked everybody at the end, they stood around waiting for people to approach the dome. It was frustrating but honestly, I was okay with it because IT IS a WvW map, it's PvP after all. It would be nice if people were friendly but at the same time, it's expected so no hard feelings. The second time I went, I went with a few guild mates and a group of server-mates and discovered that the gankers had left. I guess you just have to be sneaky and go with a group of your own server people.

Dragonbrand wasn't so bad. Another server messed with me for a minute, but it wasn't anything serious, and then we all ran up and got the kite/chest. After we got everything we fought each other.

I find most people ignore each other in the eb jp. The problem is when a guild or a few kittens get together and go on a gank fest trying to start a war in the jp. Its a very small portion of the community but annoying still.

Doesn't ground targeting still work? That is what I did when I decided I wanted to get through the dark room without a light source. As long as you don't actually cast the spell it shouldn't break invis. Unless they changed that too. Haven't done it in a long time.

People aren't going out of their way to ruin other people's fun. They are playing the zone exactly as it is designed to be played.

I think anet should have learned the lesson already: Not everyone is a pvp player so don't force pve'ers to to pvp-content and vice versa. That being said: Ganking is part of pvp. The WvW realms are not there to run around safely. As a pure pve player you won't understand that. I'm personally on both sides. In this events I won't attack anyone if he doesn't attack me first because I'm not in the right mood. But I can totally understand the guys ganking the hell out of that event. It's the same thing you have to expect when you play a mmo with open pvp. In gw2 you have open pvp only on these for maps so you should go in with this in mind. If you can't bother being ganked, don't enter (that's what I do, when I know I'm not in the mood for open pvp).

I'm not 100% sure, since I've not been in there today, but your skills are locked during the stealth, so you can't ground target with anything other than siege. I'd like to think I'm fairly confident with the JP here, but I struggle to navigate the room with only the ground targeting marker.

I'm not a pve player, I far prefer sPvP, and wvw to pve (which has grown a little stale for me), and as a non-primary pve'r, I think it's a little mean to gank people during the first few days of this kind of update, when I'd guess most of the people are not WvWers.

It's mean, that is right. But I hope enough people will cry about that in the official forums so that anet won't add anything like this or even more to wvw during events.
As I said: I wouldn't do it myself. But I can't say a word against the people who do. It's not like that camping jumping puzzles is something new; it happens not too seldom.
