In guild chat last night a request went out to help a fellow guild member clear an achivement off the "Nearly Completed" list.  They needed help with Sorrow's Embrace path 2 (hardest path in that dungeon). Quickly we had a group of five willing to help and get it completed ourselves.  After 2 hours, we succesfully completed the path.  Without the new AP rewards and AP panel view, this most likely would not have occured.

It was some of the most fun I have had in a while.  None of us had ever completed the path, nor looked up a video for help.  We just kept grinding and trying new things at each challange.  The sense of acomplishment was great when we finally cleared teh last boss. The team was made up of:

* 3 players who have played since startup and played many of the other dungeons
* 1 player that has played since startup and never tried a dungeon.
* 1 player that has only played for 2 months and have only tried COF part 1.

I thank Anet for "making" us challange ourselves by reminding us that we are close to certain acheivements.  I just wish we could stretch that panel (or scroll) and see the top 5 or 10 nearly completed items.

I like the reward system, but a lot of the prizes seem to be cluttering up my inventory.

Yep, lots of free stuff.  That being said, you get what you pay for ;) I certainly didn't need more boosters when I already have a storage full of stuff like that that I don't use.  The gold, gems, acct bonuses and armor sets are great though.  I would have rather seen things like black lion keys, but whatever.

Are they giving gems too? I did not see gems count on my account going up so far. Is there anything that I am missing? I  am at 6.8k AP. I think I got the radiant skin gloves the other night. Maybe I am missing something.

I think the first gem reward was from the 5k point chest, so no one's gotten that far in the retroactive rewards yet, but you can see it in the queue.

Correct, at 5k you get 400 Gems.

Love the rewards... got my gauntlets last night. (Missed a day, so I'm behind).

It's going to encourage me to get to 5k for sure...  400 gems!

I have the same problem.  Before this, I had a little over 1 stack of badges, and I figured it would take me forever to get enough WvW kills to ever qualify for the Gift of Battle.  Once these AP chests started coming, I suddenly had more than enough to get my Gift of Battle.  Yet they kept coming.  I burned through a few more stacks to outfit a couple alts with exotic weapons.  Still they kept coming.  I'm currently sitting on several stacks of badges, but I'm not sure what to spend them on.  I've already got 8 toons, and the 6 that are up to level 80 already have all the exotic gear that I care to outfit them.  I'm in the process of leveling up my last 2 toons, but I won't need more than a few stacks to outfit them.

Some of the other items like crafting boosts will probably sit there collecting dust in my bank until they implement the new 500-level crafting system.  I wish they would provide storage slots for more of those kinds of items like they do for the PvP boost.

You realize you can buy BL keys with the gems, right?

I do.   However, after nearly a year of consideration, I've concluded that anyone who spends gems on Black Lion keys is a person who does not particularly care about bang for his buck.  I am not such a person ;)

I'm glad they give you WvW badges from cheev chests.
I was dreading going into WvW for my Gift of Battle for my incinerator.
It's actually one of the last things I need, too. I hate WvW so much. Now I don't have to bother - but it definetly feels like Gift of Battle is heavily devalued because of it.

It was easy before aswell, just go to EB jp at peak times, there would surely be a mesmer to port you up there, that was easy 100 badges/day in 10mins.

So it's not okay to let someone win at Sanctum Sprint to help them get the Achievement, because they didn't earn it, but it's okay to get the Gift of Battle without doing WvW??

I really think BoH should not have been included in the Achievement boxes.  It's called the Gift of Mastery for a reason.  Mastering different areas of the game.  I might feel differently if we had to collect PvP tokens for it though, since I'm horrible at it. :P

ETA:  Also, these Achievement rewards have reaaly motivated my guild to work together on finishing up many of the Ach sections. It's been alot of fun!

This is kinda funny, because you complain about not wanting any more boosters and stuff, yet want keys instead which would give you even more boosters and stuff.

Hey, black lion chests drop plenty of useful stuff other than boosters.  Sure, they drop boosters a lot too, but I would rather have a shot at something other than JUST boosters.  I'm not complaining about the achievement chests being there at all, I only wish the rewards were more up my alley (and I know I'm not the only one).  Anet is FINALLY starting to make things feel rewarding, but they're doing so by giving a lot of us crap we don't want or need (which is often account bound so it either just takes up space or gets deleted) rather than by actually showing us a lvl 80 exotic every now and then.  They're making progress here, but I think they still have a ways to go before the game feels really satisfying in the rewards department.

It wasn't a change to the UI that suddenly made you have fun, it just reminded you that you still need to do X if you want an achievement.  What you had fun with was the game itself.  Unfortunately, people are too busy trying to speedrun the same dungeon path over and over to get as much money as possible, and for what?  There's no fun to be had there.  And then they most likely quit after doing it for a week complaining that the game is boring and not worth playing, when they haven't even touched 99% of the game.

Hey, I would've DONE WvW - killed people, gotten badges, etc.
I just prefer SPvP for PvP, because I hate seeking people to kill.
It's not my fault the game's systems trivialized the content. :3

The progress they are making is a giant leap from what we had, though.  I'm glad we're finally seeing these rewards.

Very true.  I had a friend tell me post-patch through e-mail he forgot how much he enjoyed the game, due to achievements bringing him back to older areas.

Really? I find them useful in dungeons when your party can't res you and you can't use waypoints.

A fair point, and agreed.  But they would likely compensate any BL key rewards with an on par reduction in other rewards (like a BL key's worth of gems).

I don't run dungeons much nowadays, and add on the fact that I was one of those super fanatic players in the beginning who rushed content and grinded these dungeons over and over again I pretty much have all the mechanics memorized, not too useful for me is what I should've said :P

that and I only have the bank tab that they gave me, never bought anymore :( so the extra boosters and stuff are more of a curse than a blessing.
