So there appears to be some new armors in the PvP locker and presumably they'll show up in another update as unlockable skins. What are your thoughts on the armors? More trenchcoats and butt capes incoming :D

Awesome, the heavy female set looks like it could mesh in with t3 cultural.

Haha, you can tell how much that heavy armor wants to be on a Norn. Good news for my f. Norn guardian, though.

And aw man, more trenchcoats. Come on, Anet: If you really wanna show off your cloth physics, use it for capes!

I think the medium armor is nothing special at all. The light armor I think looks pretty good but only the female version, seriously what is up with male light armor being absolute garbage? The heavy armor is good but doesn't look much like heavy armor. And the amount of buttcape in these armors make me cringe for anyone who plays charr (dat tail clipping)

I'm with Ship Soo on this - Male Heavy & Female light are good, the rest are pretty much meh to me.

And why, of why is the medium armor yet another trenchcoat / half-dress *sighs*.

The light female one has a very tengu feel to it... acually all of them seem to have a claw theme to them. Do we get to see beyond the big door in LA soon?

I am disappointed that male light doesn't have similar animations with female one.

The female light has potential and is also Kasmeer's armor, which until now has been exclusively worn by her (that diva).  Perhaps we (human girls) will be getting the option to play around with her hair as well!?  I can dream.  Oh and the rest of the armors are whatever to me.

"I will make you love buttcapes!"

The only one that I would even consider getting is the male heavy. Oh and does the female light/kasmeer feathers of the skirt actually fall/move/etc.? It would seem really tacky if they were just frozen in place.

I tested out the medium boots on my asura thief to see if his toes would bust out the sides of them like every other piece of foot armor I try on.

...they don't, so it looks like I'll at least be trying for that set whenever it comes out.

By T3 you mean terminator 3, that will teach me to spend on recipes before knowing the final look of armor, never again Anet.
More evidence that Anet listens to it's player base in all aspects of the game except armor. GW 2 the trenchcoat and skirt pants game.

Don't you know? Didn't you get the memo? It's the new trend, they hold there by magic or it's a Zephyrite armor. ^_^

They sway a bit as you move your character around in the Preview panel. They hover in place; I'm not sure how they'd create the illusion of a "complete" skirt that is simultaneously disintegrating.

I'm really liking that female heavy set. Just when I was struggling to decide on a new skin for my shoulder armor, this appears. :)

Exactly. It seems to me like they had Kasmeer's and Braham's armour already laying around so they just smacked some other styles onto Medium and the gender-opposite of those armors to release it.

It just looks lazy. I mean, look at that Light Male armour, it looks like they salvaged a couple other in-game armors and just put pieces together so they aren't empty handed.

It just really makes you wonder how big their team is, that is responsible for armor skins, because they haven't gotten shit done since release...

Also wonder whether it's a sign of them just not having enough time, that each new helmet introduced, has a problem with the mesh-beards of male characters. They always vanish. Was the same with the Dragon Helmet and they fixed it eventually - so there might be hope.

I like the heavy helmet because it reminds of the glorious Norn helmet from GW1:

Although, not a fan of the fur.

Still, I honestly can't be bothered to hunt down vanity in GW2: especially now with the prospect of ascended gear and the potential for better gear later on. At least with GW1's gear plateau, the gear you bought always had a use and you only switched it out if you wanted to whereas in a system of vertical progression you need to switch out certain gear because it's objectively sub-par. And then to waste ACTUAL money on it ...
It's such a shame: GW2 could be a pretty decent game to play Barbie in, but it just doesn't seem to be worth it.

Not a big fan of the heavy, but liking the light and medium. However I don't understand why there's so much difference in male and female in the light armor. That's kind of mean...

without diverting the topic too much, I'd say the focus on progression via skills and traits after the rest of ascended gear comes out means that if something else comes out after ascended, it won't be for a looooooooooong time so playing barbie is perfectly viable. Never fear. :)

Though I doubt they'll do anything after ascended.

That said that heavy set is fantastic!

The second problem is that I can't even be bothered to get the current max tier set due to the amount of grind needed: if I wasn't playing CoF, then rares (with green accessories) would be my gear of choice. As it stand now, my armour is CoF exotics, weapons are rares and accessories are green.

And it just isn't worth transmuting that.

While that is probably a bit off topic, I feel it showcases the vanity problem nicely: pretty isn't just about pretty in GW2. Although, I do use some of the HoM/AP skins so I guess this could be made less problematic if the cash shop skins functioned the same way those skins do.
But for a one-time purchase, it's just not worth it.

Meh on all of them, really. Not a great fan of the skimpy look in general, and the male light has the issue that... well, from the name and from looking at the female light it's clearly supposed to have a theme to it, but you wouldn't know by looking at it. Give us Mesmer vabbian and then we'd be talking!

I wish they could actually make some tougher looking light skins and some more revealing heavy skins, to give players a bit of diversity in their choices.

Provided the rest of the armor at the legs is really part of the coat and not the trousers. I'm not betting on it.

I'm not really sure what ANet's obsession with trenchcoats/buttcapes is. "Oh look--most of the players are wearing armor with trenchcoats and buttcapes! They must really like that armor. Let's make more."

...

Unfortunately, this seems to be ANet's solution to GW2's woeful armor diversity issues.  They'll simply give us a wider range of buttcapes to choose from.

The sooner the better!

As for these new options, I don't see much I would use on any of my norn characters, and I suspect the human female models are similar.  Are the Asura, Charr and Sylvari models basically the same too?

Trench coats are awesome, although I agree that there needs to be more diversity for non-trench coat armor.

As someone playing a male human thief, I have no interest in the new armors.  =(

Kind of a weird way to ask that question, since you obviously don't mean for me to literally list names. So I'm just going to say I'm not of the mind that the only opinion that exists on a given issue is the one expressed most loudly on Guru. Fortunately, for so many issues, the devs aren't either.
