Nice guide, fun fight.
I also liked the Divinity's Reach Champions who are near the balloons, they had interesting move-sets which mixed things up nicely. I'd like to see more mobs like this through out the game, as well as mobs like the Heart of the Mists profession based training NPCs.

The ticket requirement for these is bad game design given their difficulty.  Especially if you aren't disposed to look up the exact strategy and solution beforehand and actually want to puzzle out a build and solution for yourself.  And good luck to those that aren't level 80 and don't have exotics given the dps requirements imposed by the rather short fight timer and instant death at the end of it.  And what idiot decided to make the tickets soulbound rather than account bound.

And you have to run all the way back to the arena if you die if no one is around to revive you.

I managed to do it kiting, as a permaswift/vigor engineer with orrian food for +endurance regen. Note that this build has been posted elsewhere so I don't take credit for it!

For engineers:

20(III, VIII)
0
0
30(II,I,VIII)
20(II,VI)

Utilities: medkit; elixirb; toolkit; bombkit; supply drop (didn't even use it!)

Used pistol pistol for damage (blowtorch is actually great, it does significant damage and provides a nice burn) with occasional use of bombkit. Had medkit as heal and used the f1,2,3,4 skills as much as possible (save f4 perhaps, that was my big bomb so I used this to give me some space).

Keys to this fight:

Try,try,try...... ..... try,try and TRY again!
Q and E to strafe the initial phase necrotic grasps, you take barely any damage (but don't be afraid of using f1!).
KITE liadri, you will kill her in time using pistol/pistol skills. Use bigolbomb in emergency situations and try and get it to blast her TOWARDS you so she doesn't stay out of range of the pistol.
Keep swapping kits whenever possible to get your swiftness up, and swiftness = vigor! WIN.
Try to kill the chaos orb things.

If you asked me to do this fight again, no doubt it would take countless more tries and probably cause me to go broke :P But it's worth it, the feeling you get when you beat her is awesome :D Very challenging boss, perhaps too difficult. Maybe it will get toned down sooner or later.

You can thank the exploiters for this. Tickets were originally account-bound but changed to soul-bound after players abused A-Net's gift of 5 free tickets by re-rolling alts repeatedly. A-Net always seems to underestimate players' desire to find exploits.

This thing took my about 30+ tries
But doing it was one of the most satisfying thing's ive done in GW2.

Pro tip, reflect her whip attack (1:20) for BIG DAMAGE!!!

You can't blame players for exploiting bad design.  The free tickets, and in fact the tickets existence at all are bad design.  They managed to make some of those fights difficult enough that the tickets are redundant anyway.

On topic:  Nice guide, thanks!

So instead of just removing the mail that the exploiters are using to get infinite tickets, they make them soul-bound effectively ♥♥♥♥ing over everyone.

Sadly that could be simply solved only giving characters level 6+ (or a point where it's more work to level than grind tickets) free tickets. (It's not like a level 5 character with level 5 gear and abilities has a chance anyway.)  It's really annoying having to seriously farm the events for a few extra chances.

Don't think that's the real reason. If they had really wanted to make them account bound they would had just sent an unique ingame mail with the desired amount of tickets instead of sending one for each character. Sending a mail with 5 tickets per character makes it obvious that they wanted to make them souldbound from the beggining and they were realeased as account bound by mistake.

Did it on engie. Took ~30 tries as well. Had her plenty of times to ~5%. The biggest problem was actually doing it in time. Once i fell down at ~5% and when i did her was when npc started 4,3,2,1 and did her between 2 and 1 :D

i had power shoes for +25% in combat movement, 50% endu regen, +10% stamina upon toolbelt use.

Luck is involved as far as white spots go. If they are far to the edge it sucks.

You can avoid most of her Necrotic Grasp by moving in L line, straight then to the side and so on. Or go straight and stop straight and stop. Because of how targetting works most of the time NG will fly in front of you. No need for reflects.

Do subject 7 with all the gambits except an additional foe. Recast Warden asap. Fairly easy.

I do agree the tickets are stupid though. I have loads on chars I don't use there.

it works pretty easy with a standard phantasm build aswell. took me 2 tries and only cause the first time there were oozes left over from the guy who was in before me xD

Some people don't play mesmer -_- here's how I did it on thief:

http://www.gw2db.com...|0|0|0|0|0|0|0|

After entering vs deadeye with 5x gambits lay down a black powder and scorpion wire him to you, cast thieves guild. Keep him blinded and spam pistol whip, steal immediately after his first port and it's pretty much a guarantee'd win. Don't forget to swap for 3 ini and this can be farmed if you have the tickets. Use crit+power food.

On Liadri I just kited her around using P/D full carrion. Keep her crippled with caltrops and C&D into sneak attack, use shadow strike to get away, I didn't need any shadow steps or extra dodges with feline grace. (edit; I remember using dodge removes cripple+weakness trait) Condi food of course with 40% duration, poison venom is the only one I used the rest are option.. can't remember exactly how my build was and such since I only bought the carrion set and made this for one fight specifically.

I only need Liadri with 8x orbs now for my final Jubilee achievement, but I'll save that for another time. After trying Liadri 30 attempts getting to phase 2 is a walk in the park. I gotta say I've really enjoyed this content, I hope ANet ignores the crying about difficulty and continues to make challenging shit because that's the only thing that will keep me playing.

Maybe a little annoyed that mesmers have facerolled all of it though. Watching the mes videos is like.. wow, I had to put 10x that effort in. Clones OP! :3

I loved the content. The only gripe I have is that the container type arena does not exactly shine in its aesthetics.
Most fights are quite easy with mesmers or warriors. The zerker meta is really getting old LoL. But, overall it's pretty solid. I hope to see more content like this in future. ANET took me back to FF7 with this. With this update they have moved many people out to the open world again. Great job indeed.

I was finally able to kill her (took so long because I'm to tame to farm tokens, and just found out you can buy those) and I must say, normally I love the "hard" content, for example I loved the Clocktower JP, even though it took my hours to complete for the first time.
But this boss was so much based on luck, and blatantly unkillable for some professions (guardian...) that I really didn't like it.
  • The rifts are random + hitboxes are quite bugged
  • The blind is stupid (luckely can be disabled by disabling post-processing)
  • The visions of mortality behave weird, sometimes you run through them without getting killed, sometimes they ran 2m away from you and you get killed
  • Lastly, plz if you implement bosses with such mechanics, make the red circles a bit easier to see, now it was simply frustrating...
This commentary comes from someone who beat her in under 10 tries on warrior, so don't start the "you're just a noob,..." on me. :)

Guardians have enough hit mitigation and condition removal abilities that they can beat her with relative ease. If you don't believe me, here's a guardian - with Soldier's gear and an AH build - beating her with eight orbs.

He makes it look easier than it is. Took me about thirty tries, using this build with knight/valk armor and zerker weapons and trinkets. Still haven't done eight orbs.
