Having looked at the Guild Wars 2 website, there you can see screenshots of what's to come in the new patch.

This one is a picture of the meteorlogicus, looking somewhat different. A friend suggested to me, that what they are showing is how meteorlogicus will look at night! The middle now looks like a moon as opposed to a sun, and there is a purple glow. Not only that, there is some lightening and stars surrounding.

Is this the meteorlogicus finally getting a well overdue update? I sure hope so! I must admit i am hoping for an aura(unlikely as cannot be seen here) or much wanted footfalls. Lets hope they are only teasing us with this, and the update to the weapon is nothing but awesome.

What are your thoughts on this?  ;D I'm excited as i am so very close to having mine.

My guess would be that they might add alternate versions of some weapons we currently have and we can probably combine them to create something similar to eternity.  This would work pretty well for weapons like meteorlogicus and bifrost.

You'd think they'd update Minstrel before Meterologicus, or if they're doing it at the same time, put the Minstrel into the screenshot to show it. But maybe they want to make it a surprise?

It also looks like one of the screenshots has a new armor skin (on the skill point animation shot)...so maybe it's a big legendary skin/armor skin update? Perhaps that's a preview of the new ascended armor? Digress...

I wonder if it will be dark enough to see the difference. I never even notice the day/night cycles.

I don't like idea to bound visual effect to cycle of day/night which is IMO bad. :(

Maybe I'm a little too optimistic, but I'm thinking ascended or legendary armor would look a little more interesting.  The file name for the image (account-magic-find.jpg) doesn't imply that it's showing off armor.  In case anyone is curious... the one before that is the ascended rifle.  :)

I didn't notice the file name...but I also haven't seen that armor set in-game either. So either they're taking existing MF armor and replacing it with a different stat AND changing the look so those who had existing MF armor sets don't feel so bummed (will it remove soulbound status at the same time?), or it's a new skin (being previewed around the same time as they're announcing Ascended armor inbound.)

Edit NEVER MIND...it's the human Falconer's T2 medium set. Carry on. :P

Kind of odd to show that animation and title it "account-magic-find". I wonder what the connection is.

Since this update from salvaged masterworks (rare, blue? dunno) you will get item which will boost your Account Magic Find, assuming that this is animation after eating this thing.

it's called "608b104-King-Toad-Wizard-Weapon" so it is probably rare drop from SAB boss

This is from the SAB info fansites are giving:  "Showing their prowess in Super Adventure Box, players will earn the materials necessary for King Toad and Storm Wizard weapons."

The image name is "king-toad-wizard-weapon" sooo... yeah.  That's what that is.

I feel like I'm totally hijacking this thread by responding to stuff like this.  SORRY!!  *waves white flag*

Masterwork is green, if they're following consistent terminology.

It certainly sounds about right. I wonder if we get a certain number of these items to replace the magic find that WAS on our existing MF gear. My thief is geared to over 150MF on gear alone just for big zerg farming...an 18 slot bag full of weapons, armor and trinkets to max it out while cursed shore farming was still worthwhile. I expect to get a significant starter boost on my account MF in exchange. That or allow me to select an alternative stat set to apply to them. I could use some condition damage gear to complement my berserker stuff.

All I know is, thanks to the planned rework, the price of the precursor has pretty much doubled in the last 24 hours. Thank you very much, let's put these legendaries out of reach for more people.

The price represents nothing but demand. Yeah it was "within reach" of more people at the lower price, but apparently not too many of them actually wanted to buy the ugly things. Now that it's "cool" you'll see the same number of people actually buying them, it's just going to be a richer clientele doing so.

And yes, Legendaries are aimed at being *the* desirable status symbol, they aren't working unless the handful that can own them put a lot of something towards that prestige. This is not the type of item that should be on welfare. (Albeit I wish they removed it from the account screen. The majority of the populus should not live under the illusion that they have any chance of getting one, nor that it is any kind of sensible "progression" from ascended items.)

Nah, don't get me wrong. I have no such illusions of ever owning a legendary at the rate that I play, or at least as a result of what I choose to do in the game. Yes I admit to working towards The Juggernaut and have most of the requisite materials except the precursor. But I have otherwise submitted that it will probably never be the case during the lifetime of this game.

At the end of the game's lifecycle of course, they are likely to give out legendary weapons to everyone, but by then it is useless. The key reason for obtaining a cosmetic item of any sort, in any game, is to show it off. The amount of enjoyment we get out of it is inversely related to the age of the game when we finally obtain it.

Doubtful. Obtaining a precursor through a scavenger hunt (which is apparently not even in the works yet, but we *may* see it in the future) is still likely to require a lot of work, just not necessarily involving RNG or a tonne of in-game coin. In any case, to clarify, I am not expecting any handouts in this game. Likewise IRL I've worked for everything I currently own. I don't believe in the idea of handouts unless I was genuinely incapcitated in some way and unable to work for what I need.

I already have most of the work done. I have money and plenty of it. The ONLY hard part of a legendary IS the precursor. Especially with the market manipulation going on right now. Someone bought up all the Bifrost precursors and is trying to sell them for 1300 gold each.

I spent 300 gold trying the mystic forge. You can guess how that went.

Because scavenger hunts are by default self-completing and literally effortless, yes?

I'm guessing that half the hunt will be fetch quests and rare item accumulation, such as one item from the end of each path of each explorable dungeon. that alone brings the difficulty up to a specific level for most people, especially those who didn't get into Arah at the outset and will find it near impossible to find a group.

I would submit that its handed to us in the current system where all we have to do is farm a few hundred gold—or worse, buy the gold—to purchase it outright. Not me, you or possibly even Anet (if they haven't started work on it yet) know to what degree the proposed scavenger hunt system will "hand us" our rewards, so why even bother posting such things?

Seriously? If it IS a case of an item from every path of Arah and a precursor is guaranteed, how can you honestly say that nobody will do Arah?

If the precursor involves doing Arah, there will be a lot more people doing it. There will be a lot more groups forming. And most importantly, legendary luck is taken out the equation. A legendary SHOULD be about skill.

There is no precursor scavenger hunt.  They announced--in their coming in 2013 post--that precursors would be craftable using some of the new crafting materials they will be adding.

But it's not exactly "given away" in either case, is it? It still takes time, skill, and dedication to do all the paths of all dungeons AGAIN, not just the easy/fast/profitable ones.

New materials which will likely be either time-gated or act as a scavenger hunt to obtain...maybe.

Definitely. A friend alerted me to it as she's after the Bifrost herself I think. I woke up to a message from her saying that someone bought all the Legends. All of them. Then he jacked them all up to 1200-1300 gold. When I had checked, she was right. But as the night wore on, some started popping up for 1100 and then 900. I knew the guy wouldn't sell a PRECURSOR for around 400 gold short of the actual legendary!

-Weaponsmith, Huntsman, Artificer are going to be 500 (T7)

Coincidence? I hope it's true that after next update (3 september) we are going to craft our precursors instead losing money in MF:)

Then thankfully someone undercut that asshat.  I had several people yesterday wisper me about the crazy price increase on legend.  The good news is it looks like mr. money bags won't have covered his investment at all.

Hopefully they add steps to Meteorlogicus. I feel like that's the number one request for any legendary without them atm.  If they do, I'll be crafting it instead of Bifrost.  I use scepter way too much now not to.  The only wasted component is the gift of color I already made (can always make bifrost later if I want).

I keep seeing people claim this is the precursor crafting patch, yet I feel like that would have been a major bullet point in Anet's preview, in which it wasn't mentioned at all.  Can anyone confirm?

If it's not mentioned specifically by Anet, it won't be confirmed here on gw2guru.

Once they put it into the patch notes, that's when it becomes confirmed and official. Until then, don't bother getting your hopes up. The level 500 crafting is for ascended weapons. Maybe later on it'll be for precursors, but I don't see them doing it with this patch.

My apologies for doubting you at first, but that's some weird fluctuations.  Currently, it's at 600 gold, but an hour or two ago it was 500 gold.
