The price represents nothing but demand. Yeah it was "within reach" of more people at the lower price, but apparently not too many of them actually wanted to buy the ugly things. Now that it's "cool" you'll see the same number of people actually buying them, it's just going to be a richer clientele doing so.
And yes, Legendaries are aimed at being *the* desirable status symbol, they aren't working unless the handful that can own them put a lot of something towards that prestige. This is not the type of item that should be on welfare. (Albeit I wish they removed it from the account screen. The majority of the populus should not live under the illusion that they have any chance of getting one, nor that it is any kind of sensible "progression" from ascended items.)
Nah, don't get me wrong. I have no such illusions of ever owning a legendary at the rate that I play, or at least as a result of what I choose to do in the game. Yes I admit to working towards The Juggernaut and have most of the requisite materials except the precursor. But I have otherwise submitted that it will probably never be the case during the lifetime of this game.
At the end of the game's lifecycle of course, they are likely to give out legendary weapons to everyone, but by then it is useless. The key reason for obtaining a cosmetic item of any sort, in any game, is to show it off. The amount of enjoyment we get out of it is inversely related to the age of the game when we finally obtain it.
Until the scavenger hunt. Then it's handed to us.
Doubtful. Obtaining a precursor through a scavenger hunt (which is apparently not even in the works yet, but we *may* see it in the future) is still likely to require a lot of work, just not necessarily involving RNG or a tonne of in-game coin. In any case, to clarify, I am not expecting any handouts in this game. Likewise IRL I've worked for everything I currently own. I don't believe in the idea of handouts unless I was genuinely incapcitated in some way and unable to work for what I need.
