SAB Discussion - Reward Changes, Daily Account Timer, etc

This breaks my heart.  Why nerf the fun?  I was looking forward to farming the SAB with all 8 alts daily.  I wanted to stock up on Obsidian shards, Crystals, and Philosipher stones.  Also, the gold made in selling the skins come in handy.

Come on Anet, let me play the way I want to play!  You give us 5 character slots and allow us to buy more.  You keep introducing acheivements/goals that require farming to acheive (That is if you want to get them done in a reasonable amount of time).  You take away our high levels of magic find (and make us earn it back). You can at least let me do everything on all alts every day!

This game is becoming less fun every patch. I guess I will now have to resort placing one alt at each location of a daily account bound activity.  Here's my list:

1.  Quartz Crystal node farm at home instance
2.  Charged Quartz Crystal transform at a place of power
3.  Ecto Crafting Component items for ascended weapons
4.  Daily activity in LA (not accont bound restricted, but part of daily)
5.  Various World boss locations
6.  SAB
7.  ???

Can anyone else think of more to add?

Anyone else getting sick of account dound daily rewards and time gated crafting?

I had several guildies counting on SAB farming for Obsidian Shards to finish up legendaries. They will not be pleased...

ArenaNet keeps people playing and logging in daily just that much more!

It's okay to enjoy crap if you're willing to admit it's crap.

Hey all.

I'm not a huge fan of SAB, but this newest update has really made me hate it.

I'm not fond of the new skins, you can't get obsidian shards anymore, it's restricted to daily, and it's still glitchy as hell.

I completed everything there was to do last time SAB was around. I can't see myself doing that this time. I don't mind difficulty, but when you're dying or whatever due to glitches it ruins the fun.

Also a tutorial on tribulation mode wouldn't go amiss. I've done 8 lives worth of it and still don't have a clue what I'm supposed to do.

TL;DR I'm dissappointed at how anet can ruin something which was enjoyable for many players.

Yeah, I am going to protest this one now that you cant get Obsidian Shards and can only do it once daily.  I guess now I have a month off so I can do other things in the game that I've been putting off.  There is no Living Story and no farming left to do.

I don't give a damn about the oby shards as those are easy as hell to get from karma and fractal tokens.  I can't fathom why ANET made that thing daily and now that alt's are completely useless I can't really see my self doing the achievements for this event.

I believe they mean the rewards.
Last time, you could get a chest at the end of every zone per day for every character you got through
But now it's once a day per account.

You forgot to add how the infinite continuation coin in the gem store is pretty much a must buy for SAB and they literally punish you for not going to the gem store and buying it....

I pretty much have nothing to do with this patch tbh...Might skip these 2 weeks, don't care about ascended either. I really liked SAB last time as a mini game but this time they have ruined it and turned it into, buy the coin we put in the gem store or don't bother playing our content.

SAB is the same as last time... there's the addition of an unlimited use continue coin, but that in no way inhibits you from playing it the same way you did last time.
Perhaps for tribulation mode the unlimited continue coin would be a near necessity (not sure, haven't tried it myself), but even if that is the case, normal and infantile mode still exist and can be completed just the same as they could before. If you liked SAB the first time, this complaint seems like something you went out of your way to come up with.
The changes to the daily chest being per account instead of per character also should have been expected (not saying it's a good thing, just not sure why someone would be surprised by it), since they've been doing this with pretty well everything. You're still able to play SAB as much as you want, and farm baubles to turn them into Bauble Bubbles if you want as well. This just acts as an equalizer so that people with more alts don't get extra rewards just for owning more alts (debatable whether that's just, but that topics already being discussed plenty elsewhere).
The chest at the end also gives you continue coins now and, if I'm not mistaken, it did not before.

Beware in world 2, the geysers will lock you down. The water does the same. I didn't believe it the first time but as I kept trying, the water actually locked you in for a solid 2 seconds. Same for the geysers since that essentially robs you of your jump.

I don't plan on making a legendary. SAB bored me a little and it was my first time checking it out.

Does that mean I'm playing the game wrong... again... for the fourth time!?

Doesn't really bother me.  I don't farm and the reward is not the primary motivator for me.  If it is fun I play if it is not I wouldn't.

Because that is what lazy developers do when they don't have the type of content and mechanics to create a game that is naturally fun to play. Psychological tricks are much easier and cheaper to incorporate into a game to increase play time.

I would buy that coin if SAB was permanent.  I will not even consider buying something from the store that is only valid for one or two months a year...

Luckily, I stacked up on lives during the last time.  I started off with 99 lives...

I wanted to get a copy of all the new skins.  I have one of each of the previous set.  But with the digging locations and end chests being an accountbound daily, that'll be a lot more difficult to achieve...  Looks like I'll have to farm it even more than the previous time.  This accountbound thing doesn't work to make it less farmable, rather the opposite.  To achieve the same result, you'll have to farm more.

Luckily, I just love SAB...

I would too buy the coin if it was permanent. I won't with it being a temp thing though.

Exactly.

This video talks about the point of putting a timer on stuff like how often you can get a chest.



Basically, ANet is ♥♥♥♥ing with your mind. And you are letting them do it.

I dont like temporary content being time gated. Its here for a short time and we should be able to spend most of our time doing whatever the most recent update involves. Logistically, not everyone can play everyday. Other things being time gated isnt so bad.

I disagree with all bi-weekly/LS achievement points, and rewards, tied to a glorified jumping puzzle. I'm happy for those that like JPs. But, if i want nostalgia and JPs, I'll go play the original games, or games that are designed specifically for that. Anet should continue with SAB, I just feel like it should be a side liner and not the main attraction.

I will however, instead of flaming ANet or threatening to uninstall the game, use this time to catch up on achievements, titles, and content that I havent finished yet or had the time to participate in. To be honest its kind of a relief. I get to just "play the game" for a couple weeks.

I really don't see a reason SAB couldn't stay as permanent thing. We get a month to do all this stuff, and limit the way we can get stuff like baubles and continue coins? With the infinite CC on gemstore it smells so badly of cashgrabbing even I who really hasn't had any problem with it is starting to get annoyed. I might just suck but I died so many times on new rapids map even in normal mode, I lost propably 20 lives before I gave up and now wait for a bloody guide.

However, if the thing was permanent, I could easily gather up on baubles and CCs with no worries about missing content. It's baffling how everything has to be part of living word and limited timewise.

I don't get what are you trying to say, really. So loot and chests are now gated and account-bound which makes the SAB less appealing and not nearly as fun?

Yes, for me the only fun in SAB was to farming bubbles and chests on all alts.  I think it was a neat mini game that was fun to play through once with a group, but had no appeal to me to keep grinding for the acheivements.
