I wholeheartedly agree with what he said, and tbh am surprised that his thread hasn't gotten locked or deleted yet, given the official forums tendency towards mods who like to censor and silence anyone who says negative things about the game.

In other areas, it really doesn't hold much value beyond inflating those metrics though, and that's where the problem lies. Daily dungeon gold reward? can be used to limit inflation of the economy. Daily dungeon token rewards? not so much. If someone wants to farm a full armor set worth of token in one day, why limit them?
The problem, as Phenn mentioned in the post Loperdos linked, is that Arena Net is making far to liberal use of time gating.
The gating mechanism in WoW eventually grated at my nerves quiet a lot. Time gating raids had its advantages: it fostered a sense of continued effort and progression, which built a sense of camaraderie and belonging in guilds/raid groups, but was ultimately an annoying artificial limiter when it came to anything else (including all raids other then the current tier), which was rather clearly being used to keep people around to resub.
Saying that "all time gating is just a cheap way to cover for uninteresting content" is far too much of a blanket statement, time gating can be used effectively to add to areas of a game, but as is the flavor of this thread I agree that it's being used too much and poorly recently.
Tad off topic, but I also feel that a lot of people's complaints about limits being made "account wide" are just misdirected complaints against time gating, since being able to do things multiple times by switching characters is just a way to circumvent time gating.
Edit: also, why the "signed by NCsoft Korean grind" tag? time gating is by no means something new, nor is it a particularly KMMO phenomena. It's something that permeates the MMO genre, not something NCsoft/Anet sneakily came up with as an original idea to inflate their daily login metrics.
