So I just realized something I do subconsciously, and found it quite fun.

Many times I'll be running from one point to another across the map, and rather than stare at my toon's backside until I get there, I'll aim the toon, toggle auto run, and then tab to something else while I wait for my toon to get to its destination.

I've begun to find great pride in "lining up my shot" in these instances--especially if there's elevation to deal with. Nothing's more satisfying than tabbing back to GW2 and finding my toon running in place where I aimed it. My all-time best "shot" was an auto run across Hoelbrak into the Wayfarer's portal.

Anyone else do something similar? Or am I alone in my toon-golfing?

Yeah but usually when I try it, I comw back to "you have been defeated, use wp...yada...yada"

On a side note, I really miss space bar auto run.

^Yep^

Orr I get stuck on some tiny object and have been running in place for almost the entire time.
However, my failure at this task has never stopped me from continuing it's practice.
:D

Hilarious thread title.

But yes, I do it all the time... mostly to chat or check event timers. There are passages in Frostgorge I run through several times a day, so these I have down to near-perfection. But I'm guilty of doing it pretty much anywhere, including dungeons :D

make a par/birdie/bogie system between points of interest and waypoints or something. Each zone could be it's own course.

I didn't get the title at first but I do this all the time. I have a nack for finding the random rock outcroppings and having them knock me off track though.

Yeah I definitely have areas where I shoot par more often than others. :)

I seriously thought about proposing this in the thread OP. Anyone else be up for a little competition? Eh? Not sure how we'd monitor it, but you could film a complex "shot" then see if others could pull it off. Not gonna lie--this'd make map clearing fun again.

That's half the fun though! I love it when I can count on an elevation change to slide my toon slightly off its original course to avoid some obstacle or some such. I have, however, discovered many subtle changes in elevation that, for whatever reason, you can't actually run over. It's kinda weird.

You know, you should start posting Youtube videos of your best 'shots'.     Maybe it will get people to start posting their videos in an effort to beat your longest/most difficult runs/shots :)

(And it will also help explain what you mean, I think I get it but a vid would be nice)

I see that the whole idea to charge fees for map travel so that people stop and do events on their way from point to point really works!

And yeah OP you should put this on youtube. :D
