Nightmare Husks 2.0

Maybe it will eat Scarlet. That or ship with her. Guild Wars 2 is on fanfiction mode so you know this can happen.

Abaddon's back.

Ya it does look like him, facially, but only vaguely (pretty much just the 6 eyes and their positioning on the face)

Shares a lot of similarities to Subject Alpha.

Makes me worried they're gonna gut a CoE path...

It matches the GW1 concept art for Abbadon really well... this game could use a new enemy type, especially if they're designed like the new toxic alliance.

I think it's reasonable to consider that it has something to do with abaddon since his race of minions " margonites " all had the six eyes sort of imprinted on their skulls if not actually functional.  This could be a Margonite Prince.  After all we never saw the Bloody Prince of the Mad King Thorn until now right?

And there were unspeakable demons and horrors in the chaotic realm of Abaddon so who can say there was not a threat growing during his rise to power.  And just look at places like the Foundry of Failed Creations from GW1 also, and we never actually destroyed all of Abaddons minions.

Please ANet, DO NOT ruin the great lore of Abbadon and margonites just to push another Scarlet... Whatever it is... :(

The character in the picture is planty thought, which Margonites where not, they where some kind of energy fused with flesh? (ING they are much more fleshy and less gray/brown on their skin.

Multiple creature types in the GW universe feature 6 eyes.  In addition to Margonites and Abaddon, the Mursaat's Jade Constructs and GW2's shades also have that many.

Don't know if the character is actually planty, but he is green. I don't share your fear of ruining the lore of Abbadon and margonites. The character is behind Scarlet, which could mean that he's controlling/pushed into evil/manipulating Scarlet. We know that Kormir toke the God power of Abbadon, but this character could the mortal version of Abbadon pulling the strings of a complex plan in order to retrieve his status of God. In this case scarlet would only be a part of a bigger strategy.

It could also be a Margonites survivor, left powerless after the fall of his master and seeking either revenge (a little late for that, this could be a week narrative) or to gain power in the Tyria.

It could also be scarlet that had found a Abbadon artifact, corrupting her soul and pushing her in doing all the stuff she has done. Maybe the spirit of Abbadon was revive at this moment and hes trying to gain complete control over Scarlet to retrieve a physical form. This could explain the ''planty'' looks.

Only bad writing and judgement could ruin the Abbadon/Margonites lore, which could happen. But it could also be something really great. For now, the living world was just some secondary evil stuff to fill the time before the first Elder dragon expansion. (At least that's how i saw it). If they would introduce some other BIG EVIL AH THE WORLD COULD END Stuff other than the elder dragon, then it would be refreshing.

That would mean bringing something from GW1 to GW2. Considering the amount of disdain the new developers have for GW1 I find it highly unlikely it would be something that cool. Although, I have been wrong before.

I don't see the resemblance to Abbadon.  To me it looks like one of the Husks.

Anyway, lets hope this will be the end of Scarlet, that line is getting old.

I think it is a husk as well. Probably a boss husk that is mutated somehow.

Why is it that I know most of the lore in GW1 but I dont really care about it in GW2? :(

Because there is no real lore. Considering the contempt for GW1, I don't think they want to try and bring that stuff up. But since that is the actual lore of Tyrian, we just have new stuff through the living story that really doesn't create lore as much as it creates new stuff with no real history.

I wish the Toxic foes were minions of the Jungle Dragon like the Icebrood are the minions of Jormag. But Dragons on GW2? Pffffft.

My first thought was an alternate model of a Wind Born Titan with a different mouth because you can kind of see branches and stuff but that might be a stretch:
