I currently have only 12 ranks on the Hall of Monuments and have no idea where to start to gain more... I haven't played GW1 for years but I have alot of gold in my bankaccount. So is there any way I can buy mini's, weapons, ... to gain more ranks/rewards?

You can certainly try.  Since the number of actual current players for GW1 is rather low these days, you might have trouble buying what you want.  Still, Kamadan, LA and KC all have some people in them (many of whom are discussing their displeasure with GW2 lol).  Who can say what the market prices will be these days, but I'll bet there are plenty of extra minis to be had... weapons may be harder to come by, but you could always just do the WiK content to get an oppressor weapon if needed (it should be quite easy with 7 heroes).

When I just very briefly returned to GW1 for Wayfarer's Reverie, I noticed there was still some trading activity in Kamadan, LA and EotN.

There is also a guide up on the official wiki.

Lastly, a few weeks before GW2-launch, I've set up a little project to get my mule-account as far with the HoM as possible, here is my old blog-post.

Good luck!

You can buy armors/minis/heroes armors/weapons and certain titles for ranks.
You should compare the points gained/platinum though. For example Obsidian Armor only gives 1 point, but is the most expensive thing in there.

I think from cheap to expensive:
  • Minipets
  • Hero armor
  • Some weapons
  • Elite armors (note: you don't need to buy the helmet of the set to set it in the HoM)
  • Sweet tooth title, drunkard,...
  • Zaishen rank title (counts as a PvP title, so worth 3 points, but is rather expensive)

Your best bet is to find people in GW2 with accumulated GW1 items/wealth and broker a deal with them for their GW1 stuff in exchange for GW2 stuff. The risk is on your end, though, so make sure you trust them.

Finding good deals on things in GW1 for GW1 goods might be a little hard to do.

As someone who hasn't ever played GW1 but wanted to have as many achievements as I could possibly get by the help of guildies and friends - I pretty much told them I'd like every point I can make without ever having to really play the game - I might offer some knacks.

Turned out 25 Points were doable purely with cash they still had stockpiled up on their accounts (probably was around 30 really, but the amount of cash needed after 25 was not worth it) and I only had to play to level 10 by following them around and watching them kill stuff. It was rather silly, but eventually brought me the points.

I ended up looking on some gold seller web page how much money someone would have had to pay for the amount of platinum they used and how much gold someone would have gotten in GW2 for it - turned out to be like ~200g at the time I believe, so I gave that to them as a 'thank you'.

But here are the lines that purely gold & not wanting to play the game got me:

8/8 Devotion
8/8 Valor
8/18 Honor
1/8 Fellowship

Maybe that helps you.

I sort of disagree with some of these... In particular, hero armor is really easy to get.  By playing either the glint's challenge mission (in the CTC) or several of the Nightfall challenge missions, its very easy to get hero armor.  The only hero armor that is harder to egt comes from DoA or Salver's exile (and even though can be fairly easily gotten when playing with 7 heroes).

Destroyer weapons are quite easy to get if you care to spend some time playing the game, otherwise you may find them to be more expensive.  Getting diamonds/onyx/granite is the only thing that could slow you down, but all of these are pretty easily farmed in short order.  Also, some elite armors cost slightly above 50k in money and mats, whereas some like vabbian.obbsidian cost closer to a million gold in terms of moneys and mats (or more these days for all I know).  Use the wiki to figure out the cheap ones!  (craft your own mats wherever possible rather than buying them!)

Z-title can be gotten fairly quickly if you're good at PvP (you only need rank 3) but will be quite slow/costly otherwise.

These days, with a low population, I bet the sweet tooth/drunken/partier titles will be quite hard to get, because of a scarcity of cons to buy.

With cash you can buy weapons, minis, and armour that you can fill your HoM with. You can also legally or illegally get the Zaishen title.. Kurzick/Luxon armour counts for one point, vabbian too, and obsidian.

It's really easy to reach all the items, I think that's a total of 30 points if I remember correctly. Just do the campaigns as well. When I did it on alt accounts I managed to finish it quickly with minimal work, I don't remember how to any more thought as it's a long time ago. But I know I focused on armors, minis, weps, and then finish the campaigns, I did minimal with titles as those are the ones that takes time.

Getting the Zaishen title the fastest is either buying the zkeys or doing GvG. Unless you somehow manage to get good teams in RA. The PvP is dead except for GvG, and thats the best place to make a shitload of zkeys.

OP said he didn't play for quite some years, so that's why I put my list in that order :)

@OP, here is a link to my personal PvX page: http://gwpvx.gameped.../User:Gilles_VI, which includes a full 7 hero teambuild, I've never seen someone use the exact same build, but I could even go solo UW/FoW with it.
So if you want to do some harder content I really recommend it (alot of my guildies used it for their HoM :))

I'd add the following:
zaishen title can literally be bought because you get 10 from every new account. You can find them for less than a dollar which could make zaishen r3 extremely cheap to get.

Sweet tooth and drunkard are very easy to farm during Winterday. Either team up with necro/ranger for that snowball game or farm the DOTA map with a team. Other holidays tend to have stuff which is just as profitable. A.net deliberately crashed the market when GW2 came close to give everyone easy access to those titles.

One of hte best ways to do this as well is ask for help from GWAMM's in game, either on the forums or in the actual game, many have finished and still have a ton of material left over that could help another person get 50/50 and GWAMM. I've also heard that some people will trade GW1 stuff for GW2 stuff, but to be honest I'm not sure if thats really allowed so be wary of that method until you look into it alitlte more.

Edit: By allowed I mean, I've seen that your not allowed to trade gw2 in game stuff for say portraits of your character by an artist outside of the game, but since its trading between the two Guild Wars games it may be alright, but I dont know for certain and I dont want to give advice that would get you into trouble, so unless someonehere knows something different I would stick with asking for help from GWAMM's instead of trading unless theres an official post from Anet saying its alright.
