This post is to help me and other players decide which purchase method is better.

Something is very unclear about it's acquisition, it say it's account bound. Does Anet imply that we pay 5 gold and 250 pristine and that it will be unlocked for all characters or for each?
There's the other option for 25 skill points and this one I am sure is for each.

I can't say about the first option, but I can confirm that getting the skill with skill points is not account wide - you will need to buy it with 25 skill points for each character you want to have this skill.

Since we are talking about the skill, has anyone tested it already? How effective it is for solo and party outside the LS?

My first impressions are that it isn't as useful as what I ordinarily use. (I wouldn't pay 5 gold for this.)Itshould be noted that no ordinary condition removal will get rid of Toxin.

My concern is that it might be needed for some stage of the Living Story arc. I had the skill points to spare so it didn't hurt unlocking it.

I personally would not spend gold unlocking this skill. It's got an extremely low healing amount - the only use for it is as an AoE toxin removal, but the problem is that toxin can be re-applied fairly quickly. It's obvious that the skill is group/zerg designed to have people pulsing the skill to keep toxin off a group/zerg... but your still just better off using your normal healing & mitigation skills & abilities than relying on this.

I got this on my Guardian, seeing as I had 150+ skill points just sitting there doing nothing... and of all my healing skills, it has the lowest healing amount at all. I won't be using it... unless involved in a group instance where there is low damage taken, but huge amounts of toxin that needs to be cleansed or die.

It comes down to costing about 10 gold (spores cost + 5 gold) or 25 skill points per character.

I've purchased it with skill points on my main character since I had over 300 unspent skill points.  I'm going to wait on purchasing it for my other characters until there's a case where it's required for the encounter.

If you are unsure, it's probably best to collect the spores over the event and go the gold route since skill points are little more difficult to stockpile than gold for most players.  And one needs to spend 200 skill points to craft a Legendary weapon and probably to craft Legendary armor if and when they add it.

I personally think gold is more time-consuming to acquire than skill points. Follow a few champs in Kessex Hills and/or do a few dungeons, open the boxes and they have a high chance of giving a scroll of knowledge. Gold, on the other hand, takes forever to accumulate when just playing the game as opposed to playing the market, assuming one has the money to attempt it in the first place.

Not really, this player estimates even with the champ loot nerf, he saw around 7 gold per hour in Frostgorge Sound farming champs.

You aren't going to see anywhere near 25 experience scrolls in that time frame.
