So i was looking through the forums on gw2 today and came to a thread asking why karma was nerfed so hard. Feeling the same way, i checked out the thread. Here is it copy/pasted.

"ANET,
For newbies and for people that need karma for legendaries it’s become a pain to gain karma.
Can you tell me why you nerfed it this bad?

I have a specific way of playing this game, I run dungeons and sometimes some world events. So for me there is not much karma to gain. Why you nerfed karma in dungeons? Now I am forced to play other things like events. But why say play the game where you want how you want?? That is off the table as I am forced to leave or play less my dungeons!
I had a long conversation with the helpdesk and they directed me to this forum.
I doubt ANET will read it but I post it anyway as this is the first major thing that bothers me and I start to dislike the game!
After 1500 hours I like a legendary weapon. And yes I play on my own pace this game!
It would suprise me if something will change!"

Anyhow, the poster got an infraction for posting this and I really have no idea why. I feel it is a perfectly viable question and i would have posted something similar myself before i realized it wasn't worth the time. I know they were clamping down on personal attacks, but I really don't see how this is negative and why he got an infraction for posting it. Are the GW2 forums becoming a place where you can only praise ANET now?

They always were like that, they didn`t become over night.
On the later note almost any official game forum is like that, you say something they not like you get punished !

I just lurk, I don't post there at all.
Specifically because I just don't like entering my game login on a website.
Them being so strict isn't encouraging me either.

The search there is also pretty terrible/broken.

"It would surprise me if something will change" could've struck a nerve there, I dunno.

I've posted slightly more negative things I'm sure during the start of the game and never recieved any infractions however i haven't used the forums for at least 6 months.

I've also posted on many MANY other game forums(mostly MMOs, but other games as well) and have never recieved infractions/mutes for questioning an update that was not popular or for criticism (I think i speak for the majority of the people when i say the karma nerf is unpopular)

Like was already mentioned it has been this way for a long, long time. Basically if you post overwhelming praise for all their hard work and then ask, hat in hand your question(s) you might get an answer. If there is any kind of accusatory tone at any point in your post that comes across as saying they did something wrong you'll get an infraction.

We have a thread for things of this nature here: http://www.guildwars...on-open-speech/

I'm going to go ahead and close this thread - discussing individual infractions/posts from the official forums isn't constructive and it's not really behavior we want to encourage here. None of us can accurately pass judgement on each individual interaction with the staff on the official forums. Not to mention there's always a lot more going on in a situation like this that the rest of us aren't privy to. For a more general discussion about the overarching problems with the official forums, please use the thread linked above.

You are fooling yourself, user. Nothing here is what it seems. ANet is not the plucky hero, Guru is not an evil empire, and this is not the grand arena.
