When Anet made the change to World Boss events that guarenteed one rare a day, I jumped on the train.  I had the overlay and tried to make it to all of the world bosses at least once a day.

After the release of new Teq, that has changed for me.  I started picking and choosing the World Boss events based on the time required to beat the whole chain event.  The fights have become so drawn out that they are no longer interesting to me.  I no longer run the overlay.

Last night I was in Wayfarer Hills when the Maw Event started.  I was shocked how few people were there for one of my most memorable event from start-up.  It took us 6 minutes of auto attack to take down the final boss.  Those 6 minutes felt like a lifetime.  I did get 3 rares from the event, but even that is not interesting enough for me to get back on the World Boss train.

Are you still doing Wolrd Boss events?

I need dragonite, and it's the only reliable way to get it, so yes, I'm still doing them.

Though I hate to admit it, the new, longer-to-kill bosses opened up an opportunity for me to leech a bit.  I know it's going to take a while for bosses to go down, so if several are coming up on the timer, I do them in the order which lets me get to as many of them as possible.  So I'll go do Maw or Wurm, knowing they will drop quicker and I can get in on the last third of FE or Golem.

Feels a little slimy, but I figure things balance out because I still end up soloing the pre-events leading to FE or Golem from time to time.

I have had some enjoyable times recently, however, because fewer people are doing the world bosses at times.  Like I said, I've soloed those pre-events, and it was kind of exhilirating wondering whether I was going to have to solo the FE itself, and then fighting it or Golem with only three or four people.  I'm happy to report they scale pretty well.  Golem actually goes down quicker with a small group of people.

Nope. In the time it takes to complete a world event and the events leading to it, I could be doing a quick dungeon run that gives me a guaranteed 1g when completed (once per path per day).

I do them when I can for dragonite and the guaranteed rare which could be an exotic or precursor. Dungeons have a high chance of giving me nothing but greens or worse, even with my 115 base MF. I'll still do them because of the guaranteed gold, tokens and guild participation thing, but if I'm online alone I'll do world events first and foremost.

I did one a day to get my ascended staff. Usually Tequatl if I could get on main. If I was on overflow, I left it for another day. Never seen a good group there. People that can't use the turrets, people that can't dodge, people that don't know how to waypoint when dead, so on, so forth. It's like being in a CoF run.

Interesting you see flaw with people that are there but you don`t see the flaw in event that needs coordination of 80+ people to be done properly ?

@OP I only do world boss event if i`m on map when it starts, chasing around world map for bosses that give loot as any other mob is just not worth the time !

Of course there's a flaw in both. People are bad, therefore utilising bad people makes for a bad event.

My guild runs the boss train at the busiest hours on our server.  We've got a bunch of commanders so there's usually one that tags up to lead and keep track of when to do bosses.  We even go so far as to send guildies to start the pre so the zerg can smoothly move from one to the next.  I've done the dwayna pre, finished in time to join the zerg at melandru, then head back to escort that prissy malchor.  We hardly ever have to sacrifice missing an event to pull this off too.  The key is to push the ones on a shorter time interval to the end, like maw or FE.

A little organization goes a long way, really helped farming dragonite way less painful.

Now that you mention it, I dont do them nearly as often. And it does feel like around the time of loot changes and tequatl is when I stopped them. I've been doing more WvW instead.

My guild usually calls the World Bosses. If I'm not busy, I'll wp to it.

I don't really do them that much anymore since I've crafted two Ascended Weapons for my Guardian and I have 5 Extra Dragonite Bricks for in case I decide to craft another weapon. I run CoF, HotW, and CoE frequently so I get plenty of Rares through tokens and also through drops because I have around 110% MF. I do try to fight Tequatl but most of the time I'm not online during an organized overflow for him.

With plenty of Dragonite and Rares there's not really a reason for me to out of my way and do them anymore unless I just happen to be bored or in the map it's happening in.

Only because it's the most efficient way to get dragonite ore.

Temple Events = 30
WvW Keeps = 7

not the way I play, before or after the changes. Have never been affected by events.

I explore Tyria, if i am on site i'd join, other times I join if lots of guildies are doing the event and specifically call for more "reinforcement"

Yes, that's what I do.  If I'm in the area, I'll join in.  Tequattle, I won't even attempt anymore.  I really hate what they did with that one.  I really don't think GW2 is made for that kind of cooperation in PvE maps, especially as you can AFK in an area and lock out people that actually want to play.

My guild does a weekly run where we wp allover and kill a load of the bosses so that's fun. Other than that if I'm in the neighbourhood when one pops or if a guildie pings a wp I'll go.

I usually do Jormag's claw everyday, Teq during the weekend and the rest only when someone in the guild call on of the others. I do them only because of the Dragonite, and without them I would only do those that I come across while doing something else.

Recently I am getting 1 ecto per 3 or 4 rares. So, I stopped doing these events. I am selling all rare weapons for gold on TP. WvW netted me more gold and fun lately.

I used to do them a lot more often then I do now.   Back before they started modifying some of these encounters, I would try to hit every world boss event at least once per day, and some I would even hit with multiple toons.  However, I now skip a lot of them that I used to do:

Teq - Too hard to get into a server or overflow that is organized.  Also, it's not worth my time to stand around doing nothing for hours in advance just to be in the right one.

Claw - Takes too long, and I've never gotten a good drop from the final chests there

Fire elemental - Too many pre-events.  If I get notified it's about to spawn, I might try to make it if I don't have anything else to do.

Shatterer, Jungle Wurm - I'll hit these if they spawn soon after reset, but I've seen them fail on my server recently due to too few players at other times of day.

Dredge Commissar - I've gotten burned too many times by wpt'ing here only to see the boss die before I can reach him.  I never get any good loot here either.

Most others are too infrequent to consider.

That leaves Maw, SB, Ulgoth and Golem as the main 4 I tend to go after.  Each tends to go pretty quickly (10 minutes or less with a decent group), and I've tended to get some good loot from each of their chests.  That's a big drop-off from several months ago when I'd hit many bosses each day.

I try to do FE, Maw, Wurm, SB and Shatt daily while I'm playing, the others either take too long or too hard to tell when spawned. I have enough retired 80s where I just camp one at each spawn, when I notice a timer may be up I switch to that character. I'm not going to bail out of anything I'm in the middle of but if I'm just milling around its at least a chance for easy loots. I'll likely continue to do so till they revamp all the world events like Teq. If or when they do, I don't know if it'll be worth it to do them.

One thing I noticed shortly after the change to make it a daily is that very few people do the event more than once. The first two spawns of each event is usually full of people but as the day goes on less and less show after they've gotten the daily.  I've gone to FE an hour before reset to find its only myself and one other person at the event. We still managed to kill it but most of the events require far more people to be successful.
