A bit overdone, but it sets the mood.

Not gonna lie, I thought that was pretty awesome.

But it doesn't beat any of the GW2 trailers. :/

Pretty cool. I've always been impressed with Blizzard's cinematics, but then... They're just cinematics. Still, pretty eye candy!

Blizzard always makes pretty good cinematics, but Deathwing needs to be at least 5-10 times that size to actually cause a massive cataclysm on the earth. Our Kralkatorrik can easily eat Deathwing for breakfast.

That's a good point. I mean, consider how many Elder dragons it took to 'change' Tyria, and then consider how large each one probably is...

Then again, Deathwing is pretty uber, and size of the caster doesn't necessarily equate to the size of the magickz. It's more his 'rage' that ripped everything apart than his actual physical size...

Still, Kralkatorrik > Deathwing. ;)

Kralkatorrik doesn't even need rage to cause destruction, all it needs to be is to exist and stuff blows up. Other than the size problem, the cinematic was pretty well done.

Their cinematics are always amazing, thanks for posting.

I loved it tbh. They're the only thing I currently like about Blizzard.

All I'm going to say is that the proof will be in the pudding.

Doesn't stop it from being pretty, though.

Deathwing is an Aspect.  He can cause a cataclysm because he is the aspect of earth.  Size doesn't really have anything to do with it.

No Deathwing is the Aspect of Earth. Aka he can control the Earth Elements.
Plus dont forget, he is getting powered by the Old Gods, which makes him more Powerful than before.

It looked ok but is one of my least favorite ones they have had for WOW. It didn't show either of the new races and spent to long on the armor of Deathwing to really show to much. Blizzard does though make very good cinematics. I would have loved to see the new races or a battle going on and then they feel Deathwing come out and the fight stops. But I guess overall it wasn't bad but wasn't their best either.

as always, Blizzard's cinematics are top-notch.  Unfortunately in game it will be a bunch of cartoon characters in a very dated engine.

I've always had a thing for Blizzard's high res cinematics. I really wish they could actually have thier games look like that...

no I rather not. Usually MMO with better graphics have other limits. Look at AoC and AION for an example of this.

Also those type graphics are too serious for Warcraft lore, which has both Serious and Less Serious points.

I rather have Smooth Gameplay like WoW than have Super graphics like AoC and Aion with poor gameplay thats super sluggish.

Animation locks are so bad in the MMORPG genre. Thankfully WoW doesnt use Animation locks.

It looks really nice

Its better than the wotlk one (imo)
Blizzard always made awesome cinematics, I think they should start making cgi movies hehe...

Too bad that the graphics of wow goes totally against this cinematic...

I know, I used to be pretty into WoW lore (I read the books, :l); but Deathwing seems to be only half the size of a mountain. I expected more, that's all.

edit: I find it funny how at the end: Deathwing says that all will burn under the shadow of his wings, and his wings aren't that big. I used to picture Deathwing as he is now, but much much larger with mountains on his back with lava exploding out of the peaks.

That can't really be said. We can assume that Anet had the idea for the Brand around '07, but I can't find a source where Blizzard began planning for the "plot" of Cataclysm.

But Deathwing's got nothing on a dragon that turns things into crystal.

Since he became Deathwing, Neltharion has always planned to destroy and rule over all. The events of Cataclysm are honestly 5-10 years overdue, they were just postponed because the big guy needed time to grind to level 88.

The crystal thing is pretty baller though, yeah.

I love their cinematics. :)  What really sold the whole thing to me was the nostalgia of it (recognizing all of those places). But the realization that the expansion will be less than half as good as the cinematic makes me less inclined to want it... :p :(

Yeah, but that's just a plot tool meant to be used later on (but no one outside of the story team knows when until they're all "HEY GUYS WE'LL USE THE DEATHWING THING NOW"), like how Arthas becomes the Lich King and just chills there (pun intended) for quite a while.

Then again, I haven't really paid attention to Warcraft lore for years, so I'm probably inaccurate.

ArenaNet now has to reveal Kralkatorrik in order to steal the spotlight from Deathwing since he stole the spotlight from the Shatterer. ;)

This made me laugh *so* hard. XD

But yes, Blizzard's probably been dreaming this up long before the GW Universe spawned it's dragons. Though, just because Blizzard dreamed it up first doesn't mean that GW's developers got the idea from them, it just means that... well... it's a rather cliche idea to begin with. Dragons spawn, world breaks. Oh noes!

Still, there's good things to be said about the rest of the lore of each game. And yes, I do think a crystal dragon is cooler.

I guess I do have to agree that I liked the past cinematics a bit more. I *still* get goosebumps from the original WoW cinematic, and I still become all smiles when I see the Burning Crusade one. WotLK's was... meh. This was in definitely better... But may that's just because I hate Arthas and loves dragons! Who knows.

I wonder if the ArenaNet employees that used to be employees at Blizzard invented Deathwing before they left... <_< >_>
