...being put up available for other races?

Just curious.

I know it's just for scholar classes but personally, I'd feel pretty bad if everyone can start suddenly wearing Norn t3 heavy even with a slight adjustment in appearance but is that just me?

Also, before anyone goes on about the thread title; yes I know everyone who plays is human, I mean the race they choose for their character obviously.

Hate it, it removes any sort of uniqueness associated with the armor. Remember that cultural armor was supposed to be a unique representation of one particular race, made for them and them alone.

But I guess it doesn't matter anyway, anyone can now just throw $10 at their screens and get an armor that used to require a modicum of effort to obtain so anything special about it has already been whored out.

A slap in the face to those who worked hard to save up enough gold to buy the entire set 119g).

119g + 6 fine transmutation stones, which as we all know are not cheap from the gemstore.
I am waiting for them to put Eternity on the TP with extra effect(like it needs more) for 1200gems, just so some CFO doesn't get canned by the next quarter.

I had a very good laugh about this. It also makes me happy that I didn't buy if for my character, and I also think that it is kinda cool that other races might be able to use tier armor. I may possible be the only person that that actually likes this idea. I hope the next armor they do is the human T3 medium armor. :P

Classic > Flames imo.

I'm not overly fond of the precedent it might set, but seeing as I prefer the original, which is still race specific, I don't mind it as much.

I don't mind it - the classic version is still better. Am I disappointed they used the same skin? Sure. But I do think that some races should be able to use other cultural armour, simply because I don't fancy re-rolling a character because I can't get the specific armour set I want. I think it would be pretty cool in the future to have the cultural armours available to every race. It's kind of like saying: 'yeah, I'm this race, but I'm really a part of this one' - kind of like how you have asura living in Divinity's Reach. They should be able to buy the cultural armour, much like how we buy foreign clothes when we go on holiday.

It demeans the concept of "cultural armors", which are some of the most objectively good looking sets in the game.

Guild Wars 2 has a wretched dearth of good-looking armor, and I support anything which allows more characters access to those armors that do look good. With this update, a decent chunk of characters get one more nice armor and so far as I'm concerned that's a good thing. Stop complaining about how this is such a deep betrayal of the people who saved up for it. If I had back the money I paid several years ago for my current machine, I could go out and buy one twice as good and for $200 less, but I'm not going to get that because the market has made progress and certain things have become less valuable. The market forces driving this armor creep are fundamentally the same. It's not great, but pretending ANet has betrayed your trust by refusing to shield you from an unpleasant bit of the human experience at cost to themselves is asinine.

It just shows how tone deaf they really are and how they little they value the players time. 120 gold is either a decent amount of time or a bit o cash. So to go and negate the reason for such a charge shows how little they do value time/money. Especially at the deep discount, they are either just not thinking things through or they dont care. A total lack of respect.

Don't like the nightclub dancer outfit (aka human t3 light) too much myself, so it wasn't an option before. But if I imagine this would happen to the heavy-variant I like a lot more, pulling my hair out in frustration should describe my feelings accurately enough. Isn't cultural armor supposed to be... cultural?

That aside, the three new armor skins just feel like cheap recycling with some flames (which we already have plenty of...) on top. Maybe if some additional or at least more original work was put into them, I could overlook the cultural armor abuse... but the way they are now... simply no :(

Gemstore version is just ugly. Same with other added in this patch gemstore armors.

It's strange for me really. They have most of the time great ideas on weapons design, most of weapons added in "champion bags", weapons from black lion tickets, etc etc.
But they strangly sucks with armor design. First they add way to less of them, second it sucks. From all added armors I've only bought eatherblade medium one for my charr engi, its sad really.

I dont have a problem with them doing this, however, I do have a problem with the other 2 armor sets. Come on! make those skins cultural T3 aswell.

I don't wholly agree with that it's some sort of betrayal either, I think it's lazy as hell, but to be completely fair your analogy doesn't work. Cultural tier 3 armor is still being sold by merchants for the same price as always, it didn't go down in price. It's 119g like it always was. That's why it's a devaluing of the product. It's basically saying "Hey you can buy this fairly expensive in game armor set, or you can buy it for cash for half the price!". And that is just wrong.

What bothers me more is that if they absolutely HAD to reskin a cultural armor, why did they use a WvW armor and random Renown Heart reward armor for the other sets? The medium and heavy flamekissed armors are underwhelming. If they were going to go there, why not make "Flamekissed T3 Seraph Armor". Everyone would've bought that.

That said, why do we keep getting "fire-themed" stuff? Why not create some earth/water/lightning(air) themed stuff for once? :l

This really... Although I am against sharing cultural skins for other races, I would at least advocate the option for everything rather than some... Imagine every heavy armour class in that badass Asuran T3, although I would think it's cool, it was also the exact reason for me to pick an Asura for that specifically O.o

As for new elemental themed stuff... I cannot agree more... I have had my portion of flame skins now... The Windcatcher backpack skin is amazing as hell, yet the only thing we see for armour seems to be fire :(

I think the idea of race-specific armor was stupid to begin with, so I'm glad that this might mean they won't be anymore. But I can understand why players are upset by their investments showing up in the cash shop. 800 gems is about 60 gold right now, which is almost half the price of the original armor set.

I had a guildie who bought his tier 3 armor set for his Mesmer on Monday. He was raging pretty hardcore.

I'm rather upset about this. Not so much because it is human cultural armor, but because it is the laziest reskin to date. And while this isn't the first time Arena Net has tried to pass off an old skin with minor updates as something new, this is the first time they have had the gull to charge real money for it. I don't like where this is going.

Honestly i'm kind of disappointed. More so because of how lazy these skins are than it's Tier 3 Human armor. Though it really confuses me. What are we gonna get next, Charr walking around in Seraph armor?

I noticed that too, the fact is that thread was remarkably civil too, full of vitriol and anger but well within forum guidelines.

Also keep in mind that cultural armor has an achievement tied to it so clearly it's supposed to be representative of an accomplishment, so to just bypass that by allowing players to cash in for $10 shows just how far ArenaNet has strayed from their original intentions.

I think human heavy t3 would just look silly on most other races. I like armor individuality, so it would be kind of dumb if you could get all the cultural armors.

Arkham, we need to compile a list of your modified idioms. :) Always good for a chuckle. EDIT: I was remembering another poster's idiom, so strike that. Anyways, I still chuckled.

On topic, I was a little surprised at the skins. Disappointed at the half-assed laziness behind them, and astonished that they'd make something as difficult to obtain as T3 armor is available to everyone.

I do understand this but when you see all of the other light amor for female and male out there, if they are just going to reskin something, the choices are bleh or meh at best.
Male Human Light: http://wiki.guildwar...ale_light_armor
Female Human Light: http://wiki.guildwar...ale_light_armor

People have been asking for this since launch and even requesting for it even as Gem Store Item. I want to use the "Human cultural armor on my other race, plz Anet even as a gem store item Or I like the Norn Heavy Armor on my Human " Well, we have it now and people are flip out and going getting mad for something that has been requested from a few people.

http://www.guildwars...ral-armor-sets/

http://www.mmorpg.co...5184936#5184936

Most people don't know what they want and when they get it they will still over react to it. Let me say this, if this Flamekissed armor sells well, you will see other reskins from different cultural armor but I hate to say it but VOTE with your money, be conscious consumer. On a side note, this is the first time they used Cultural armor reskin as a gemstore item and i think they might or were testing the water for it.

How does the Flamekissed armor look in different colors then your red, yellow and orange?

One of the main reasons I created a new HUMAN elementalist was to get that T3 armor. If they ever gave us a slight notice they were thinking of reskining T3 I would've stayed SYLVARI and waited for it and not waste 30 bucks for buying a new character slot, name contract, transmutation stones and other stuff.
