So I was doing my daily dose of random browsing when I stumbled upon this post of a dev

I mentioned this elsewhere on the forums, but I’ll say it here again. There is an end to the Scarlet story that has been planned out. I’m not at liberty to discuss release dates or the timeline, though.

Some more posts in this specifc thread point out that they had been planning most of the Living Story stuff for months (of course), so they could work on the content and whatnot... So it does make sense for them still pushing Scarlet a bit too much since they got like a story written out... or something like that...

It did made me interested though... As one of many, I do not care for Scarlet... No hate, no love, I simply am indifferent about her, and thus the story she stars in...

But since we know it comes to an end, what would they do after it? Create a new Living Story? Progress where we left off with the personal Story (you know, dragons and stuff, you might've forgotten about them), and obviously, what would your feedback be on the Living Story now, and what would you have next?

I know there are countless of threads about expansions and whatnot, so be original... To me personally, they can still use the raw concept of the Living Story... I know, sounds crazy, but to me it would be cool to see a story that builds up every two weeks, and more importantly, can be played after that as well!

I'm not going to get my hopes up and assume it's gonna be something boring.

I would personally love to see what happened in the Wizard tower. Is Verata still there? What's happening to the people that enters, since they never return? (I've got my theory). I'd want to see more stories from Guild Wars tbh. Some that ties up what happened between those years etc. About Cantha and Elona as well.

I'm not into scarlet in the storyline. It's waaay to over-done. To begin with it was fine, but I'm sick of her being at the heart of every damn LS, and it's got boring.

That being said, I think the writers seem to struggle with writing a good villain (similar to JKR imo), the best 2 I can think of would be Shiro and the Mesmer woman from Winds of Change in gw1.

I'm pretty sure they'll gear up a new living story.  It's not like this was a one time experiment and once the story is done their taped for what to do next.

I will agree that Scarlet has been a bit underwhelming, because so far she seems content on just spreading chaos in as many ways possible, and appears totally unruffled when she's thwarted.  It makes it feel a bit random and without direction.  I can only hope that in the end, each piece was integral to a bigger plan that will coalesce when the story begins to wrap up, but we can have no such assurances so far.

If that DOES turn out to be the case, I can only hope future LS story archs will at least give a teaser that bigger things are to come, instead of ho-hum you beat me time to move on.  LS installments should throw something out there that leaves us with a few questions (some which get answered while other are added throughout the story).  So far, the only question I have is "what's the point?"

And I don't mean that in a cynical way.  We just haven't been teased with future content.  LS should be like a good mystery novel.  But to be fair, this was a new thing they were trying.  And "season 1" of ANYTHING can be a bit weak until they figure out what they're doing.

Everything about Scarlet and LS so far was so 80`s Arcade machine like, you beat her (or her minions) and then she says something (grabs a princess, pun intended) and goes to the next level !

While i was present back in the eighties and did play a lot of arcade machines i never thought that it will be same 30 years later :)  !!!
All connected to LS looks and feels like very poor writing (plot writer) and very poor reading (someone responsable for green lights).
Anyway complete story is out of context and did not made a single good impression......i said before and i will repeat they should CANCEL LS and continue to expand Tyria and lore that game is based upon !

Considering that Scarlet was behind the Flame and Frost Alliance, that means we've been dealing with her half-assed plans for world domination for almost a full year now (the Flame and Frost Prelude was in January). I'd say it is well past time to put the cabbage patch kid to bed. As far as what they do afterward, I'd say it is high time they at least remember that the Elder Dragons are indeed a thing. Even my fiancee, an Arena Net apologist, is starting to get fed up with all this side crap. Are the Elder Dragons the greatest threat to the world or not? If they are, then they need to be treated like it.

Speaking of... they had all of these plans for Guild Wars: Beyond.  Perhaps they can make new updates based upon them.  The history information could be done in the way of permanent content such as events.  Event chains that make you discover old lore and fight spirits or flashbacks of the old villains.

A parody of an episode of the Powerpuff Girls involving the Amoeba Boys trying to be bad guys, fail miserably at everything they do, then get a cold which affects the entire world, resulting in a pandemic of epic proportions.

Only this time, the Amoeba Boys are Skritt and the whole world must find them before the entire world catches a terrifying sickness called "Skrithaos" which makes you move 80% slower or 80% faster at random moments.

It's weird how glad I am to see that others seem to be just as frustrated and fed up with Scarlet as I am... I seriously wish we could just already defeat her and move on, to something that would return GW2 back on track.
What I mean to say is that the plot of GW2 has gone far away from what GW used to be. It has lost its charm completely, as it's just been expanded in new weird directions with absolutely no roots in the GW1 lore. Neither Scarlet nor the LS have any backup in the lore, and Scarlet, "the evil mastermind behind it all," is just too shallow a character for anybodys taste. They could still make her even somewhat an enjoyable character by writing her a background that would actually make players identify with her. Make us kinda like her, and understand why she is this bloodthirsty lunatic of a plantperson nowadays.
I wish we could just get it over with and move on to something, that would return us back to GW lore. We really do need a helluva lot of more nostalgic feelings and ties to GW1.

All we have is this: https://www.guildwar...at-scarlet-saw/

It's interesting, but not too much to go on.  And, granted, it is not withing the confines of the game, so probably missed by almost everyone.

While I agree I'd like to see expansion on the existing GW lore.  I never played GW1....so maybe that's why, but I've never felt FULLY engaged in the GW lore.  Not like I was for WoW lore.....although I never played Warcraft before, so my per-existing lore knowledge was similar then.  That said, the game has been out barely more than a year.  So I'm willing to give them time to work on expanded lore content, rather than get edgy and start demanding it now.  I know, time moves slow in the world of the MMO player, but has any MMO ever expanded major story content less than a year and a half into its existence?

I still have plenty to do in game.  The 2 week content gives me something new to look at, and if it doesn't make the grade, I just go back to other things again.  And until I start getting bored with all that, I see know need to push them to get out other major content.  But that's me.  I'm sure others are already to that point.

To each their own.

The Elder Dragon's weren't in the original Guild Wars, only teased. They were created specifically for Guild Wars 2. I'm not saying they need to expand on GW lore in GW2, I am saying the need to expand on GW2 lore in GW2.

"The end of the scarlet story line" .... omg, finally. Couldn't wait to read this line. I can imagine where they wanted to go with the "crazy evil girl story" but I've hardly ever seen it that boring and badly written. It has been done a hundred times and a hundred times better before that. I wish A-Net would come up with more original stuff and better writing.
