Stacking. Yep, I said it, I know it's saved me in dungeons and I know it's great for certain bosses but I think it is the cheapest shittiest thing in a game I have ever played. Ever. It's takes the fun out of combat and sadly is highly viable.

Your GW2 coding pet peeves?

Every damn turret-trait interaction bug. A buff while the are at it would be nice too.

I completely agree.

The ability of thiefs (and other classes) to shadowstep/blink/whatever into the scenery.  They SAID they fixed it, but since that fix, I've gotten stuck at least 3 times on my thiefs.

Not game breaking or anything, but quite annoying.

the usefulness (or lack thereof)  of control / interrupts/ shutdown & denial in the game when facing mobs & bosses.
especially when gw1 had a diverse wealth of gameplay options for that.

unfortunately, current pve has regressed to dodge the red circles, stack, and dps.

Stacking...

Now don't get me wrong, I do it as well, since you know... it works... but it shouldn't imho, as it makes encounters more boring than they usually are...

That said, people usually stack to take out trash as soon as possible, because... well... trash doesn't reward well enough to actually fight ._.

I'm trying to imagine what W3 would be like with body-blocking.  Can you imagine 5 Heavy's packed into a Keeps' gate entrance, getting water-fields spam-blasted on them, holding off a zerg?

Whoa...

Music. I have noticed it for a while but there are many times when my client plays inappropriate music or never stops playing certain music because nothing takes over. It's odd to hear Shatterer's theme song when crafting in Queensdale. Awesome, but odd.

The in-combat speed reduction.....that's still active 30 seconds after you slaughter whatever it was that got in your aggro range....

Warhammer Online Age of Reckoning.  I was one of the heavys.  It was one of the most epic PvP(RvR) battles i've ever been in.  We had literal, pixelated hell raining down on us from outside the gate.  All we could do was hold and DPS their heavies.  Our priests and healers kept us up for an hour straight until the opposing force realized we had a second team capturing all of their keeps.

I haven't seen such an epic battle in ANY MMO since.  It makes me wish GW2 had player/body collision, but it would make jumping puzzles and guild puzzles a pain.

Ascended crafting.

Both the terrible grind to get from 400 to 500 with very little useful stuff produced along the way and lack of new recipes as well as the stupid attempt to force people into areas of the game they don't wish to go by making mats exclusively available in specific activities.

I want "play how you want", "easily accessible BiS gear" and "you won't be crafting useless junk just to level crafting" back.

I'd like to see all the Orr Temple Events fixed so that there are no more bugs that prevent an event chain from progressing.

I'd also like to them change the Balthazar Temple Pre-Event. Make it so that if the NPCs die that you have a time limit to revive them before the event fails. The new Great Jungle Wurm has that mechanic in place where if the Crusader you are escorting dies, you have 5 minutes to revive them or the event fails so I believe this would be a perfect solution seeing as the Balthazar escort NPCs die too easily.

Although I agree with a lot of posts (in-combat speed reduction, music, temples), the biggest one is by far stacking for me. I just hate it.

Vertical progression.

GW2, at its best, is a game about the world. It doesn't work well when it places the player in the center (combat is appallingly boring), but as a game where the player explores the world, that's where the game shines. And the problem is that vertical progression really limits this aspect and fails to give us anything in return.

I agree with stacking. Every dungeon I go into - pretty much any content I do with anyone, I'm always told to stack on the boss/mobs. It's really annoying and doesn't allow for any strategic gameplay at all.

I also think AoE can be improved - especially the boss attacks as I'm often downed when I'm nowhere near the red circles!

Best answer straight away. Give full stat scaling too. Ascended kit damage would be nice.

They should either remove Immobilize stacking or put it higher on the condition removal priority list.

Just a simple thing like not targeting a monster behind a wall or a yellow deer would be nice when I use auto target when a red monster is beating me to death. Anet prolly have more important cash shop issues though!

True, the potential griefing of that would be in epic proportions.  You could possibly disable collision for PvE content, or at least "friendly" collision.  But that might create its own problems.

A few dev comments have said that pets use the same AI as mobs, so it's not a bug.  And that they'd have to create an entirely new AI for pets if they were to try and "fix" them.  Not sure that will happen.

Broken skill points. I don't understand how some are broken on some servers and not others and how somewhere in the server there always seems to be a broken one.

I don't think that is an unreasonable expectation. It won't be in a little update, but hopefully in an expansion or something.
I've been playing my thief lately and really dislike the pathing of the shortbow shadowstep skill. If standing on a little ledge(basically anything with a different z axis) and I try to shoot to a point that isn't on the same level, I just stay in the same spot, feels very clunky.
I also dislike how you can't activate an ability while in the air. I think that alone would make the gameplay feel much more fluid.

I dont understand the hate for stacking.   If all 5 party members are running around aimlessly, then the shouts, banners, combo fields, etc, are not being fully utilized by all 5 members.    If someone misses a dodge and goes down, they're halfway across the room and no one is close enough to rez them.

When stacking on the boss, you're all in range of each other, all shouts and banners affect all 5 members, and if someone goes down, you're right on top of them to rez them.    Not to mention many dungeon bosses hit harder at range than they do at melee.  How is that a bad thing?

You've just described why it's a bad thing. It's effortless. You stand in a corner, gain all boons, suffer no penalties, are able to instantly rez, are completely safe for the most part, utilize all fields, and all for the simply price of auto-attack. You can AFK bosses this way.

"Oh look, a full open room which looks aesthetically pleasing... Let's all hug this wall..."

Like really... it breaks immersion, dumbs down fights and make simple things even simpeler... What is worse, if you do not know how to stack (thus abusing bad game design), you get raged at by your party...

There is absolutely a bad thing about stacking, though as it stands, it is simply the best method for everything within a dungeon!
I use it, you use it, and I advise everyone to use it, but come on, you cannot deny that it is actually rather stupid - especially in an action MMO like this where "active combat is everything"...

Stacking in dungeons actually requires a lot of specific utilities being utilized properly. I wouldn't say it's really all that difficult to pull off, but it's not just AFKing with auto-attacks like you suggest it is. Fighting in melee range is actually a lot harder than ranging in many respects.

Now, if you were to say that using Fiery Rush into corners with the Fiery Greatsword is effortless, I would absolutely agree. But stacking is not necessarily the same thing, and is ideally what you should be doing in the first place. There's a reason why blast finisher combos only have a 360 radius. They want you to be positioned in relation to each other.
