I'm working on my first character in GW2 and I've reached the part in the storyline where I'm required to group.  I've found many threads complaining about it so I'm not here to do that.  My issue is time.  I haven't done any grouping because I really only have time to play in short periods.  One of the reasons I've enjoyed the game is the lack of a subscriptiong. There's no rush to level, and I can let the game sit for weeks at a time and not worry I'm wasting money.

My character is a human Guardian and I've traited her for soloing.  I have NO idea how to group in this game.  I'm very nervous about using the group finder and disappointing those who I group with to finish the story.

What really bugs me is that I'm a completionist.  I'm working at map completion and the storyline was the other aspect.  Now I'm stuck.

So, TLDR: how long does the storyline dungeon take, on average, and any recommendations for someone who's played the entire game solo facing grouping for the first time?

I wouldn't worry about it. The group finder tool will find you a group very fast. Just look for "story mode" and avoid group that are "speedrun" or "full zerker" and something along those lines. I did Arah story mode in October , and it was tweaked a lot since then, so I can't give you an exact time, but no less than an hour in my opinion.

Recommedations: Stick to yor group, guardians usually support in dungeons so taking shouts is a good idea. I don't have guardian so i can't give you any better advices, sorry.

Don't worry about anyone, just do it - use lfg and find group. Story is easy, they will be happy to have you there.

Was about an hour and twenty minutes when I did it the first time (with all other first-timers).

I was in your exact position back when I first did the story finale. We formed on the go (since there was no LFG tool back then). Some people had done it before, some didn't. It took us about 1,5 hours, I guess. The best advice I can give you is to just go for it. You'll have to group up eventually, so this is the perfect time to start!

Dont be intimidated by grouping, it will turn out more fun than you think. I play everything solo except the last personal story, did not take too long, it was a random pug group. I random pug that story twice, first time someone was begging on map chat, so I help out even thou my character hasn't reach that far in story yet.

The first time I did it was 8 mins. The second time I did it was 23. Take it or leave it I guess.

This specific situation should be a perfect time to jump in to grouping really. You will be doing story mode, so people aren't going to be doing farming groups and the majority of your group will probably be in the same boat unless they are repeating on an alt. This is the "gentlest" type of party to join.

It isn't too bad. Just say hello, stay upbeat, and be friendly. Heck, that should be the message that pops up when anyone joins a group.

Little Mabel won't be able to be here it's our worst fear. She's busy working on her garden that she's growing up in space.

Why hello there forumite. Would you like me to review some moderation you did not agree with? Never fear! PM is here! Want to be a better poster? Check on this link! And this one!
