I've been reading the outcry on the official forums, and am surprised and impressed by the customization some players have with their townclothes.

I'm sure ArenaNet is thinking more people will buy clothes now they can be worn in combat...  but I am not sure it's worth the price of losing customization.

I'm hoping they work  this out, there is roleplay users and people more social who love their clothes and the sets they created, i have my Mad King, Witch and other sets i got with gems to mix them, it's not fair, i hope people support this to see if ANet finds one better way for keep everybody happy. :)

In the attempt of combat town clothes, it's a small step forward and...Jesus, how far back can one go? Infinity and beyond? Oh I dunno.

Its almost cartoony how evil this is. Its like the miniscule fine-print to a shady contract: "Sign here to wear town clothes in combat today!!! No strings attached, honest!"

why what a big woody you have?no wonder you smile

but I understand. To those that RP this gave them distinction and uniqueness. now you must conform to everyone
else since it is all or nothing. There is nothing special about it other than wearing it in combat.

So what they will do is load up the store with purchasable crap and see everyone looking the same again - I thought we wanted to get away from that idea. That was the point of have cosmetic endgame - special and unique but now we chase stats and look the same!
Sounds very familiar to other games.

I get why they did it - change the mesh and 1 style can be ported for all 3 classes so they can sell even more crap but at what cost?
Was it me or was it dead Sunday? No one on at all what happened a protest?
