One of the worst changes in this patch was the removal of town clothes from the new "outfit" tab.

Current "town clothes" turned into tonics (what?  Why not an outfit?), and tonics are not dyeable.

Anyone know why this was changed?

(For those that don't know, you can speak to a Black Lion Armor Trader to get your free town clothes tonic...  with set colors of course!)

But Outfits ARE dyeable Mordakai.

And good riddance to town clothes. They were useless anyways. The old GW1 costume system is vastly superior.

Edited post.

I guess I just don't understand why you don't make town clothes the default Outfit, and keep it dyeable.

Why remove features?

Tonic takes up a bank slot?

Because you're not supposed to use the standard town clothes. You're supposed to buy outfits from the gem store.

LOL, it's really not the space that bothers me (after all, Anet just cleared tons of storage space by allowing me to delete armor skins I have stored).

It's the non-dyeable part that bugs me.  And that it just makes no sense.

I guess it's supposed to encourage you to buy outfits?  If so, it failed for me.  It actually annoyed me so much, I decided not to buy that extra slot (not that I needed it anyway, I have no desire to level another character at this point).

Hehe yeah I think it's for marketing reasons so to speak.

ArenaNet did this because they realized that they weren't catering to the untapped market of altoholics, who had by now convinced themselves that buying a skin for a character they might not be 'into' next week was a waste of money.

They still want you to buy extra storage.
It's okay to enjoy crap if you're willing to admit it's crap.
Every patch is like ArenaNet walking out onto the stage of the International Don't Kitten Up Championship, and then proceeding to shiv itself in the stomach 30 times while screaming "IT'S FOR YOUR OWN GOOD! IT'S FOR YOUR OWN GOOD!"

Can you get more town clothes tonics if you delete these?

And I do hate the tonics....  I hope eventually they get moved in to Outfits ( even discontinued ones like the witches hat and Anet t-shirt.)

The town clothes were problematic because the don't fit graphically with armor.  Some of them are outfits now, but the really problematic ones were turned into tonics.  It's unlikely the tonics will ever become outfits.  There were just issues with them, probably with building them to work with player actions/skills.  Most of the hats can be converted into helms, though.  I can wear my witch/warlock hats with armor, not that I ever would.  I've seen lots of places where they stated that they wanted to get them into the wardrobe, but just couldn't.

The statement given by Arenanet is that the old town clothes do not match the graphical pre-sets for any race with other armor.  In other words, equipping them with anything else would cause graphical inconsistencies and animation errors.  The official forums had some people claiming that the town clothes affected the hit-boxes in a positive way, granting an unfair advantage to certain players, but I have yet to see this or confirm this either myself or with a developer quotation.

But the Cultural armor stayed locked to certain races, correct?

Also, why would it need to interact with the armor?  I thought outfits replaced the look of current armor...  is this not correct?

I kind of wish they just deleted the town clothes altogether.  The people who do use them aren't happy with a unmodifiable tonic, and people who don't like them aren't going to use them anyway.

Oh well.  1st world problem, if a problem at all.

Now, if you want to wear the wizards hat you got as a reward for Halloween you have to pay one transmutation charge.

It seems to be a bug, it's got a thread under the bug section on the official forums.

Collision effects and supported PhysX functions use real-time collision.  As this game is full of effects it could cause glitches ranging from projectile twitching to incorrect display of projectiles, resulting in people claiming latency is causing their projectiles to not do damage, etc.

I miss the costumes from GW1... it was just so awesome being able to combine a hat from Halloween three years ago that was pretty rare with some exotic armour. I loved mixing and matching armour sets in the first Guild Wars. I do to a certain extent in this game as well, but they could have done a much better job.

The tonics should've just been outfits.
They gave the GW2 shirt shorts (and your racial shoes), might as well have been an outfit.
And then splitting outfits to clothes and hat like GW1 would've been a nice bonus.

Still a free charge for every hat you had, but I get what you're saying.
