The feeling is striking again: De-Hyping [Complaining about lack of info]

GW2 is starting to let me down from the dodging of answers, lack of new info. From all the new interviews and stuff, it seems like Anet is still far, far away from completing the game - perhaps more than a year to wait?
Not being a troll here, don't get me wrong, i'm just speaking out my feelings here. Perhaps you are not let down by them, but I certainly am, from this past couple of months.
Seems like Anet is losing the hype gathered from Manifesto. I really hope they can bring out something fans want in order for us to sustain the hype, i dont know, for another year or even more? :qq:

I may not be the right person to comment on this though, because I've already been let down about the PvP (from my own sources).

While of course we'd like it all to be done next week, we'll just have to wait until they're finished. To me it easily looks to be the best MMO on the market when it is released. I don't care much for sandboxes, I hate the Holy Trinity, and I like a world that feels immersive. With Dynamic Events GW2 satisfies me and it is wonderfully innovative.
Now, I don't think it will perfect. I'm not a fan of how The Shatterer is animated (doesn't feel real to me) so I worry about how big baddies will look (this is a problem in pretty much all MMOs though), I loathe t-stones (grindy mechanic if you like to have more than one outfit), and hmm, I thought there was a third quibble I had, but I don't recall it. Anyhow, none of that would ruin the game for me.
I don't need to be on some crazy hype train for GW2 to sustain my interest, for what it is worth. That said, there's lots of info they could release. Let's say the professions cover 4 months of info. I think crafting could probably be spread out over 2 months. PvP could easily take another 2 months. They've barely touched on dungeons, that could be given another month. Underwater combat would get a month. Guilds and other social systems could get a month as well (they seem to want to innovate a bit with guilds, grouping, and such). They could easily spend a bit more time on existing professions, let's add a couple months there (we barely know what they can do, honestly). So that's 13 months right there and I'm probably missing a bunch of stuff. See? Not that hard.

Seriously, now... Anet has no obligation of keeping you informed about their every little move. I understand the feeling. As we've seen from the interviews, they have great things planned, that they know of already but can't really state them because:
a) It isn't final;
b) It's one of those juicy things that should be released to the public close to release;
Imagine they announced the coolest feature you can imagine 1 year before release. THEN your personal hypetrain would go off the rails, because one year of waiting knowing that nothing will trump that is boring.
The only thing you need to expect is profession reveal and other small pieces of news, and if they aren't ready, then I'm sorry, but they aren't ready.

Why would that be bad?

Hype levels will change over time. It may be going down now, but when the next big reveal comes around it'll be back up again. This is to be expected.

Of course it is likely that the PR/community folks at Anet are finding it anything but a lull, with all the conventions across the globe; it's just a lull for us internet fans.
I'll have to concur spring 2011 is feeling very unlikely now though; April/May 2011 was my fallback hope a few months ago, but I find my intuition drifting more towards a Christmas 2011 release now.
If that is a sound guesstimate, I do still need to lower my own excitement levels to something more sustainable.

don't care anymore, if they want to play this game, let them loose the hype.

That's why they should've made the demo buyable for everyone. You buy it for $/€ 10-15 and you can play the low-level human and the mid-level charr area as long as you want. And no, I wouldn't consider that an open beta (despite what the CMs said), because it would still lack a helluva lot of features (crafting, underwater gameplay, activities, dungeons, PvP and more). However, the players could've played the game with each other, their hype-o-meter would've increased to the heavens, and ArenaNet could've developed the game in the meantime (while getting + cash from the demo purchases).
Yeah, I know that these are just wild speculations and dreams, but imo, it would've been better than letting down the hype and the development for the time they were playing the demo...
Edit1: And I agree with the OP. My hype is also decreasing... But it won't deter me from buying and playing the game when it is finally done and released. Beside SW:ToR (which I doubt I'd play because of the monthly payment - for the time being), it's my favourite MMO - perhaps a little bit better than ToR.
Edit2: fortunately there are dozens of good games and real life activities that one can do. I'm quite positive they'll kill the insanely long waiting time.

I really hope so haha :angel:
but this just strikes me, u know how Anet is always like "we'll release something when we feel like we're full-on and confident about it"? Well does that mean some of the professions aren't good enough? or they postpone the profession releases to buy time for other mechanics in game?
either way, I seriously hope Anet has completed at least 60% of the game, or else...3 years time had not been used wisely enough. :zip:

Nov 2011.
Agree easily best mmo atm I can see. I like sandbox mmos but there are issues with the present ones.

But seriously I keep sort of forgetting about it every now and then. Lack of profession reveals is highly displeasing.

My hype level has been decreasing over time now. I will still play the game when its out and look forward to it, but the extreme hype experienced throughout the june-august is gone.

Anet never said anything other than a release 'when they were ready', however the constant information suggested that things were further along than they most likely are.
That said however, releasing in a year's time; how much will graphics have already developed by then? Now that so much info has been released, will the game already be outdated, even before release?

but damn a beta by Christmas = a full on fight with Cataclysm though, that would be epic.
