Theres a skrit in the demolished, old Black Lion building just west of Trader's Forum that is taking the shiny candy wrappers that come from the candy that is sold in the gem store and they also drop in the labrinthe.

The way this works is that for 2 weeks, you give this skrit every candy wrapper you can and at the end of the 2 weeks, they draw names, based on the amount of candy wrappers everyone has conributed for a "drawing" (or lottery chance) at one of the original halloween weapons skins, like the chainsword, the gord rifle, or the greatsaw skin.

From what i'm seeing, you have a better chance at getting a wrapper if you buy the candy from the gem store.

I think this might just be the last straw for me.  This just isn't right at all.

Complete and utter rubbish - is my opinion of this lottery.

Not only is it promoting more RNG, it's from the gem store if you genuinely wanted to up your chances.

Perhaps my opinion is biased, but I also do not like the idea of giving away skins worth 100s to 1000s of gold, which are generally viewed as "exclusive" or "you had to be there". Hell, there's currently only 8 listed shields in the TP.

Been a long time since I posted here;

I too am not too happy about it... My guild leader and I talked about Legacy Items, basically skins unobtainable by a large® crowd now since the game has progressed in years... We both liked the idea of being there and having done that, so that we got what we wanted...

I got this game since Beta, but missed the launch - means I missed the Celebration Hat... Still, I do not begrudgingly watch those who got it as they deserved it for being there... Same with any item like that...

In Halloween 2012, I could not participate largely since the guys I played with and I only played once a week, means we took our sweet time leveling (was a blast) - Sure, I missed out on some cool stuff like the Halloween Skins, but I did recieve the Witch's Hat, which I consider one of my favourite pieces of armour simply because it is unique... Sure, it was not hard to come by, but just having (new) people wonder where I got it makes me feel "proud" being an early consumer...

And now this... Making it RNG based, and even worse, increasing the chance via the gemstore... I am not too mesmerized by this, frankly, a bit too annoyed... I will not give into this madness (pun not intended), and will ignore it's existence, but reading it did not make me smile...

I did some drop rate research for you today, so you can use this to form your opinions and go on with this discussion:

-250 ToT bags (17 raffle tickets)
-50 enemies killed (1 raffle ticket)
-6 champion loot boxes (5 raffle tickets from one box)

I think the gem store part is bullshit.  The drop rates of the tickets, however, is acceptable in my eyes.  If they get rid of them from the gem store, it's a nice extra.

I'm utterly convinced that GW2 is a cash cow for NCSoft at this point.

Wildstar was a failure, so GW2 has to carry that additional weight. If the second-half the LS2 fails to deliver, shit is going to get real.

Both you and OP... where does anyone have the idea the chance is increased via the gemstore?  Datamining reveals the tickets as drops and from the gem store are identical.  I agree the purchasing ability is bullshit, but the chances are equal.

I think they just meant that people with "mad-money" where they can buy extra chances from the Gem Store increase their number of chances with less work/game-time than those who play the chances they get from drops. I'm with you though, its OK...they just needed to not have them in the Gem Store.

Ah, got it.  Still, I really thought "you have a better chance at getting a wrapper if you buy the candy from the gem store." literally meant better chance...  :zip:

I agree exactly.  If they'd of left the wrappers out of the gem store, i'd of been perfectly good with that.

For some, its easier to drop the money into gems to buy more and more of the candy, rather than run the labrinthe repeatedly for the drops, thus why it creates such animosity.

Well yes, the chances for the tickets are equal - they way they are obtained is not, though differently and arguably easier in game for those without money...

Like Veji says, sometimes (let me emphasize that) sometimes it is easier for people to "simply spend cash"... I'd be somewhat more fine if this was an ingame exclusive thing, leaving the obtainability within the Gemstore completely out of it; because as you say, it is not hard to obtain them within the game (I can verify this)

Though like Andemius, I might be biased since I dislike reintroducing "Legacy Items" in the form of a lottery (in which you have the option to spend real cash)... Things irk me, and this is purely from a personal opinion and view - so like I said, I will ignore it within the game...

No, I understood it.  I thought at first it was implied that the tickets were rigged to be in favor somehow.  Beyond that, agree with you.

Legacy?!?  These skins are all BLC drops from years past correct?  Nobody "earned" them.  Unless you count lottery winnings as something you "earned" through the hard work of being lucky.

I suppose you could say at least this current system gives people a chance to win something w/o using gems....  but let's be real.  The high rollers will be the ones grinding wrappers in-game and buying wrappers with gems.
