First some context: [spoil]I main a ranger and I greatly prefer the bow. Both types, actually. And for a while got into a somewhat unorthodox play style of swapping back and forth between the two types rather than taking melee weapons for when things got personal. The problem was that while I love the short-bow for its skills, I absolutely hate with a seething passion how…puny…pretty much every single short-bow skin in the entire game looks.

Then I discovered the Ebon Vanguard weapon set, and found that (probably through a bug of some kind) the long-bow and short-bow looked identical, or at least always displayed the long-bow even when I swapped to the short. That was fantastic, as not only did it solve the “short-bows look like toys” issue it also created a really cool situation where it appeared as if I simply had twice as many skills on the same weapon, really giving the feeling of being an archery master. I used this weapon set for pretty much the entire leveling process until the move to exotic gear (and the fact I wasn’t about to pay for fine transmutation stones) forced me to drop the short-bow.

Recently I opted to go back to my preferred play style, figuring that the more accessible transmutation system would be to my benefit and that I was replacing all my gear to a new stat-type anyway. You can imagine how saddened I was to find that this “feature” has been patched out, and the Vanguard short-bow now looks like something you’d find at Toys ‘R Us. Needless to say I was not happy, and kind of wanted my karma back…but whatever, better to live in the solution than the problem. [/spoil]

So this brings me to my question (if you actually read the context section, good on you); are there any weapon sets in the game wherein the long-bow and short-bow appear to use the same skin, and be of the same size? Or, failing that, are there any short-bows that don’t look like they were intended to be used by the diminutive protagonist of an animated Disney movie?

Aether and it's counterpart spring to mind. Feathers of Dwayna and the other.

ehhhh, not sure on any others.

Edit: Chaos bows are probably similar.

Aether and Azureflame..... -checks- Good lord, those things are practically legendaries. Over 600gold a pop, or crafted with gifts of light and unjustifiably high numbers of very expensive items. Christ...no; just no. I'll keep looking for something actually obtainable in this lifetime.

Thanks anyway though.

There's also the Aureate bows, with the most noteworthy difference being a bit more ornate handle on the longbow. The Corrupted bows are also very similar, as are the Ebon Vanguard, Krytan, Priory and Wolfborn bows.

I was just looking at the new Pact Fleet weapons yesterday, and as someone who feels the same about short bows I found the Pact Fleet Short Bow to look quite nice. It's also available for 75-ish gold right now, which is a sum I'd consider reasonably farmable within a few days.

There is a bow called Pirate Needler (Shortbow) and Pirate Crescent (Longbow). Both bows look exactly the same and have exactly the same size. They can be bought for 9,800 karma after a Jumping Puzzle in Sharkmaw Caverns in Lions Arch. Here you have more information on those bows.

Thanks much, I found those as well. I'll probably use them from now on just because I like pirate-ish stuff, and the meremaid style of the bow is nice. If anyone is interested I also found that the guild bows, sold as consumable skins for a mere 30s from Guild Weaponsmiths are identical as well; both in design and size.

Off topic for this thread, but I encurage you to send me a privet message; how do you farm that much in a few days? I've been playing since head-start and have never topped 1gold a day, and don't even make that most days. My current bankroll (altough I did just buy mostly new gear) is less than 4gold.
