Hey Charlie :)

It is good to see you back.

The pic is amazing as usual but I do wonder how the chap in the foreground can see anything.

You should get your art out there a bit more. Have you seen VP's extra content series? Maybe you have some work suitable for that.

Hi CD, glade to see crazy new works.  Are you a pro-concept artist yet?  I bet you are!

What project are you working on now?  I am on a quest to round up some artist...

Hi Charile!

Yeah, it has gotten quiet in the LIbrary.   GW2 is sucking up what free time I used to have and I imagine its the same for others.   Really good to see you're still making _incredibly_ awesome art as always!    Really striking arena image, you can practically hear the theme to 'Gladiator' playing :D

Glad you guys like it

@Aero: We'll see if he accepts any of my work - his subject focus seems to be random.

@AJ: Hardly, still looking for work before I'm forced to move out of the state.

@Doc: Heh, that movie was partly the reason why I made that illustration.

Anyways, I've recently submitted some of my artworks to a contest. Aside from the final judge's panel, they're also holding online voting. Figured this would be a good place to help ask for some votes. Anyways, here's a link to the website - you'll be able to find my works under the artist name "Matt Lara":

https://www.infectedbyart.com/

And some more shameless self-advertising. I've also got a tumblr and facebook page - these don't have nearly as much attention as I'd like. Be sure to check them out or follow them for works I don't post here or on DA.

Facebook: https://www.facebook...509110125818265
Tumblr: http://mattlaraart.tumblr.com/

Anyways, thanks for all the follows and comments or any votes you folks submit.

I just voted you, friend. Your illustrations are so impressive, they definitely deserve more attention! Why didn't you submit the piece about your Warrior, the one with War & Death? It was simply stunning.

Thanks for the vote, Ibari! I actually submitted that piece to their previous contest that ended a few months ago. I didn't win any of the prizes, but it did make it into their first official book release.

Though the version I submitted is slightly unfinished since I was basically working till the deadline, and the version I posted was only done after.

Some new stuff.

Cowboy Bebop piece for a gallery show in Hollywood this coming Friday. Full size: http://changinghand....Audio-386403090

Posted Image

Some mech studies because I've never really drawn machinery before:

Posted Image

Posted Image

Some LOTR character redesigns. Basically changing the race of the characters for general practice and the lack of POC/diversity in fantasy work. Also it's a small part for a larger piece I'll be doing in the near future.

Posted Image

Posted Image

@Aero: Ah, thanks for trying anyways. Not too sure what's up with the site :\

Also, I'm now taking on paid commissions. I have a full listing here with all information and fees in case anyone is interested.

Charlie Dayman Art Update!  Woohoo!  :D

Incredible stuff as always Charlie.   Great rendition of Spike Spiegel, that piece really captures the feel of Cowboy Bebop (one of the greatest anime series ever!)

I like the mech designs.  They combine a classic anime and epic space opera look.

Eomer has a Mongol horseman is brilliant (and makes a bit more sense than cavalry vikings lol). Classic fantasy can be as bad as old James Bond films when it comes to reflecting the less than PC attitudes of their times.

A question about the commissions, is that the price for each figure if we ask for a commission with more than one (if that can be done)?

Thanks, Doc!

The theme of the show is to pick an anime that influenced you - pretty straightforward. I'm not really a huge anime fan, but I think Cowboy Bebop is a work of art. The characters, story/setting, art direction are all pretty amazing. Also, the use of funky upbeat jazz against the space bounty-hunter theme was something really new to me when I was young. That had a big impact on me and probably one reason why I like to attach music to my artwork.

I was on a bit of a mech craze because of Pacific Rim. I feel like doing a big piece that's related to the film/genre.

Yeah, the Mongol influenced Eomer seemed pretty fitting. What's nice is that so many people are open and supportive of what I'm doing. Though hilariously, I did get one very angry white guy saying my work was "depraved" and that POC should stay in our own stories. While I'm all for artists who are POC to make original stories and worlds, we should still be allowed into other well established fictional works as well. Apparently dragons, elves, magic, and demons that shoot fire out of their butts is okay. But once a brown person shows up in their make-believe world, we've gone too far.

As far as pricing goes, it wouldn't be $45 per person. I should probably make that a bit clearer in the guidelines. If it were two people, I'd say it'd be around $60. Doc, if you're interested, you can just pm me and we can figure something out.

I like the mech.. but love the rider the most (of the new collection).

Also if I spot someone need art for their board/card game, I could direct them to you.  What is the best way to chat with ya?

By the way, is your commission still open?  If I see someone need some arts, can I still refer them to you?

Thanks Aero, here's Tzu's finished illustration. Her character is a Soundless Sylvari that's obsessed with Jormag's ice corruption. Wanted to make something more atmospheric than my usual action scenes.

And here's an old piece from last year that I wasn't allowed to post online until now. Another cover image for the Guild Launch website.

@AJ: Thanks, AJ. At the moment I'm closed, but I might be opening up again very soon. Sure, you can refer people if you like - I don't mind the free publicity, lol.

Wow, that sure does bring Overlord's characters to life! ...not to ignore the other pieces either, cool stuff.

And yeah the mention of $45 does sound a bit low considering what I've heard of similarly talented artists charging. Doubt you'd beat a salaried job where things are valued a bit more fairly, but if that proves too hard to get... which doesn't make a lot of sense to me, cranking out some of those previous pieces in a few hours has to be worth something to someone, but I guess that's the way things go sometimes.
