Hey everyone, thanks for clicking onto this to read it. First of all I was an avid Guild Wars 2 player for a while now, I had an XFX HD-7850 2GB and got around 40-60 FPS (with native render sampling). I thought I was set when it comes to playing this; however, I wanted more performance out of my system. General specs are at the bottom.

How much of a difference can these GPUs make without any changes of:
1. RAM
2. CPU
3. Power Supply
4. Monitors

Well that's what you're here to find out. I have ran some tests whilst playing for around a week of each. (One week of the HD-7850 prior to me getting the R9 290). Here's what I got:

***290 = Was ran at ALL high and super-sampling
**AVG = average rates at which they were received
*7850 = Ran on ALL max except native render sampling

XFX HD-7850*:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WvW (Roaming) - 55 AVG
WvW (Zerg) - 20 AVG
EOTM (Roaming) - 45 AVG
EOTM (Zerg) - 26 AVG
PvP - 60 AVG
PvE (General events) - 40 AVG

R9 290 PCS+***:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WvW (Roaming) - 75 AVG
WvW (Zerg) - 34 AVG
EOTM (Roaming) - 70 AVG
EOTM (Zerg) - 40 AVG
PvP - 70 AVG
PvE (General events) - 60 AVG

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My general specs:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Monitors - ACER GN246HL (2 of them)
RAM - 8 GB Kingston Hyper X Red 8GB (1866 MHz)
HardDrive - 1TB Western Digital
SSD - Agility sata II 30GB (What I run Gw2 on)
PSU - Apevia 780W
CPU - AMD FX-8320 4.0 GHz

My thoughts are, that GPU upgrades can affect your gaming performance. If you want a little EXTRA performance, then spend a little more on a nicer GPU. Keep in mind that all of this is inside of an NXZT Phantom full tower with all fan cooling. No water cooling at all.
