[Baktwerel]

Hi all, my gamer nick is Baktwerel,

but as an artist I am better known as Qvi.
Welcome to my GW2 Guru gallery

where you can browse my GW2 related artworks!

(and some random stuff probably)

I'll link every new artwork into this first post

(see below at the spoilers)

and will try to update this post regularly.

Two artworks were originally posted in this first post when I created this thread,

These two are Meruru the Charr ranger and Loki the Asura necromancer, my first two characters I have created in my wicked mind - and possibly my favourites too.



ps: note that Loki is just standing in the front, he isn't that tall X,D

Update:

Now we can see Loki sitting in a boney throne (no, he's not a royalty, and yes, those are some thick books under him) and some of his bone minions... well, being his minions: P. He's such a meanie necromancer, pretty selfish too. But he can't help it if the silly bookah can't understand him... Footmassage or lemonade, anyone?

Thank you :D I hope we will have some punky mohawk for Asura necromancers :p Though it's not confirmed whether we will have it or not, I will probably keep illustrating Loki this way (unless there will be a more awesome look that owns the hohawk). The only thing I really don't know about Meruru is the fur pattern/colour. I guess we will see that too soon :P

Well I am mainly drawing anime style artworks and comics, but I figured those kind of artworks are viewed different here, so I tried to go for something not so anime-ish.

And Loki is awesome :,3 There will be more soon I guess :D

Were these done traditionally? Because then you got some nice groovy hand and a damn good scanner ^^ Assuming you placed the background behind it later, you got some damn fine lines up there ^^

@ tmakinen and Tommy's: These are completely traditional, both sketches were drawn on paper with pencils (to be correct, mechanical pencils), scanned and a little bit fixed up in Photoshop.

This fixing means playing with the brightness-contrast first and using a simple brush to colour over the lineart with a brownish tone (opacity set around 20-30%, brush mode is color). The lineart of the first one was even duplicated, the mode of the top layer was set to multiply, and the layer below got slightly blurred with Gaussian Blur(hence the blurry feel). Those who are familiar with Photoshop will undertsand this, and those who are not... worry not XD these are just very slight changes. Not that important :p

Also the parchment feel in the background is not an additional effect or background, it is the paper itself, after getting the brownish tone (this can be achieved if one plays with brightness and contrast the right way :p). I intentionally do these steps with my sketches so that they would look much better. Heck, I might post some simple tutorial for those who are interested and have Photoshop and a scanner :P

@ Eragon Zarroc: The Asura ARE bad@$$ :D When I saw the available races and the 4 revealed professions, I knew I'm going to have an Asura necromancer... it's just funny, no one sees deadly things comming from a midget :D A warrior profession would have been equally if not more funny, but I thought the necromancer would be more suitable to my character (my mmo characters often get their own personality which is reflected on my artworks and in my comics about them :P So yeah, I guess you can get Loki's personality :D)

@Eanny:Thank you, good news; today's classes at the university proved to be very productive (aka they were boring as hell and I spent my time doodling :D). I shall post a few new sketches as well as a short tutorial on how I make them look like the way they are posted.

Also thank you everyone for the feedback ^_^ I might be new here and my knowledge about GW is very limited, but I am looking forward to contribute to this forum community with my posts and artworks, and I certainly can't wait to dive into the world of GW2 :D Looking forward to more feedbacks, and of course for that I will post more artworks for you guys :)

You know what's funny? I've been reading that thread yesterday and doodled some Sylvari (they didn't came out well last night), and the random GW2 girls picture started out as another drawing I wanted to contribute to the "Back to their root" thread. And this one -during class- came out much better... and I somehow ended up doodling the other races too X,D Will still post this one and will keep trying with those Sylvari.

Dunno, the faces we saw on that big group picture of Sylvari... they all look so mean and impish... their eyebrows have that unattractive angle and their mouth is all 'sad/neutral' too. They don't look innocent to me. They don't need to be all that childish, but younger and more innocent.

-and thank you, I hope we will have smexy mohawks and neon yellowish-green demonic eyes for the Asura necromancer :D I want my Loki the way I draw him X3 -

I like it ... and yes has an anime like touch but not overdone indeed wich imo makes it look better ! Actually what kind of anime style do you usually draw ? If you dont mind citing a few examples.

Haha thank you. I guess I can't entirely get away from the style I am used to, but if the animeish touch makes these artworks better, then I am glad :D
I try to take people's preferences into consideration when posting artwork at a gamer forum. For example Fiesta Online is all anime style so my usual art style is very popular at their forums. Here we have a realistic game with more mature users, and I figured that I shouldn't post anime style artworks unless requested.

OMG me too! :D Right when I saw the necro I immediately began planning my Asura Necromancer.
