I think a bit of that is rosy-tinted glasses, because I for one got extremely tired of ecto farming. It had its moments and rewards, but it was still a grind. Now, I'm not saying that GW2's methods have been the best so far; I wish that all sets of armor had a standard method of being obtained, and I think GW1's method was good enough: Gather mats. You can divvy up the drops however you like, in effect making some obtainable easier through spamming dungeons, but I don't agree with spamming the crap out of one single dungeon for a set of gear, or farming karma, etc.
Yeah I got tired of it too eventually but no where near as fast as I got tired of it in Guild Wars 2.  It should have been like Guild Wars was because then a lot of this grind complaining wouldn't be around.

It's actually fairly entertaining to see how much QQ is going on between people who paid a one-time fee for this game. Do you cry this much when you buy a game like Assassin's Creed 3 or something similar and it blows? The game is nothing perfect right now. Give it some time. If you hate it, stop playing. Seriously not that difficult.

But where's the fun in failing to milk something for all it's worth, right?
Well, Guild Wars was more fun when it was released, and for a longer time.  So it doesn't make sense that the same developers wouldn't do the same thing with this game.

A few people watch the manifesto and think they no longer need to work for gear? Seriously, those complaining about getting these pieces of gear, how much GW1 did you play? How many sets of Prestige armor did you get? And how different do you really think the ascended gear is?
I got quite a few sets of Obsidian armor and a number of prestige sets.  Some I got within a couple days of playing, some took me months.

The big difference is, every thing I did in Guild Wars to get those armor sets was fun.  It's not fun in Guild Wars 2.

As long as the mobs aren't made "more difficult" by increasing their health and damage..I might like this dungeon.  Maybe it will bring some fun for me.

I'm enjoying my time in game despite the repetition of content, the grinding, and the farming. I wished those aspects of the game were more engaging, but i find the game overall entertaining. Different strokes i suppose.
Then we agree.  If they were as engaging as they were in GW 1, this game would be better overall.  They did it once then totally abandoned it.  I don't understand that.

There's whole a lot of things to do, I still plan on getting 100% map and going through all the dungeon paths along with all the new content pushing on. The game is full of nice stuff, hidden lore and nice views, I plan on seeing them all after WvW let's me off it's hook. The only thing making someone feel bored with this game is their mentality, the easy gratification and rewards are what people want, but once you've got exotics on you, people think that's it. Well it definitely is, if you don't have any other passion than to feel rewarded for everything you do, instantly.
Except none of that stuff you plan on doing is as fun as it could or should be. The fact you like doing it blows my mind completely because it bores me so much that I'm left baffled.

Also DuskWolf I agree with the majority of what you are saying.

I believe Guild Wars 2 did certain things right.  The starting battles before you get into the real world are great.  When you get to fight the dragons in the real world those are fun as well.  Timer is silly though and so are a few other things involved with those fights.

The problem stems from the fact that Guild Wars 2 is fun for 100-200 hours for a normal player.   For a lot of us Guild Wars vets who are disappointed with GW 2, Guild Wars was fun for 1,000+ hours.   Even vanilla Guild Wars gave more hours of fun than Guild Wars 2 does.   The replayable factor of Guild Wars was extremely fun.  There is barely any fun replayability in Guild Wars 2.  That's subjective of course but I feel that, that is something that shouldn't have changed.

And my big problem is that I want to play and enjoy this game. I really want to.  Right now I want to play it, but I know I won't enjoy it once I start.  This upsets me!
