Guild Wars 2 Combat Mode Demo
17 September 2012 - 08:21 PM
Please...PLEASE check it out. IMO, this would be an amazing addition to the combat in GW2. No right mouse button holding and combat looks a lot more natural and fluid.
I think it would be worth ANet taking a look.

Completed My First Dungeon
09 September 2012 - 03:59 AM
So today, I broke my dungeon cherry with Ascalonian Catacombs Story Mode.
So far, when playing GW2, I've been over-leveled for the content as I enjoy exploring. However, this time I wanted to try a dungeon while i was AT level 30 with level 20-26 equipment (Human Warrior: Hammer/Rifle).
What I liked
From the get go, the dungeon was a wake up call. If you've been surviving by rolling with a large group through events, prepare to find out what you're REALLY made of. I play on Anvil Rock (medium population) and usually am by myself or with a few people, so I think I have a good understanding of my skills.
What stood out from the get go was the amount of influence each individual has on the outcome of the dungeon. When I was chaining KD, knockback, and stun, there was no doubt that MY CHARACTER was the one causing the interrupts.
I also really liked the dungeon mechanics. Traps and such were punishing, but not one-shotting (might change in explorable).
What I did NOT like
This is a recurring theme throughout the game: I feel that to fully appreciate the story, one must have at LEAST read Edge of Destiny and should probably also read Ghosts of Ascalon. I feel that without that background (or at least a GW1 background), one will miss alot of the references.
Happy to see the repair dude in the dungeon, but no merchant to my knowledge. Now that I'm writing this, I'm not sure if he doubled as a merchant or not, but i don't think he did.
------------
Overall, great experience
Can't wait to try explorable once I have a full set of level 40 armor.

With GW2's head start in less than 36 hours, I thought it would be a good time to remember your five favorite moments in the 5 year wait:

4. Release date announced
3. Teaser Trailer released
2, GW2 Pre-purchase announced

sPvP Contest Idea-$30k giveaway
02 August 2012 - 06:31 PM
I got this idea from a Blacklight: Retribution contest happening now:
http://www.perfectwo.../blog/?p=605521
Essentially, it is a daily $1000 drawing for 1 month. For every match you participate in, you win 1 ticket. For every match you win, you win 2 tickets. The more tickets you submit each day, the better chance you have of winning. In addition, tickets are only good for the day you are playing.
I think this would actually be a great way of getting more people to try sPvP who may have otherwise not given it a shot. I would suggest small a buy-in for the month (perhaps 50-100 gems) to help offset costs, if that's an issue.
