Just throwing in that it's not nostalgia, as I've replayed GW1 quite recently. Post-GW2 release, in fact. It continues to hold that special, tactical feeling. Especially in hard mode stuff. Each fight I face is a little tactical puzzle. It shares that in common with Hotline Miami - which if you haven't played, you should. Every encounter has different nuances and approaches, and you have to plan out your approach. You have to understand your foes, what they can do to you, and you have to do your best to command the battlefield. But even then sometimes that'll be taken away from you.

I just feel, to say it again, that Guild Wars 1 continues to make me feel clever when I manage a difficult encounter, especially the stuff on hard mode in Prophecies. There's just some content that can kick my butt, and that's not so bad. I don't mind being beaten by good AI at all. In fact, I welcome it. It makes it challenging. But in Guild Wars 2 it's just this zerg... they zerg, you zerg, everyone zergs. And that's just not fun for me. It means that if I survive an encounter, I zerged more. It doesn't mean that my efforts warranted any talent, intelligence, or worth.

In another thread I got my arse kicked for even suggesting this. It got so bad that there were people trying character assassination because of how defensive they were. I can't even bear to look at that thread, now, because I find it repulsive, repugnant, and pathetic. It's just my opinion that Guild Wars 2 doesn't provide the kind of MMORPG evolution that I desire. Thus, I rank it at a 3. It's not a game that can't be fixed, but something needs to be done to make the AI more clever, to give the game more of a feel to it, to make it distinctive and memorable for those that play it. More clever, less sterile.


Okay, let's make this fair.

In Guild Wars, you had mobs which:

- Could support their friends.
- Could resurrect their friends.
- Could lock down the players with crowd control.
- Knew to hang back behind melee foes.
- Used crowd control effectively.
- Used the environment to their advantage (sniping).

I'll ignore the feedback element I've brought up before and concentrate purely on this. Can someone show me a Guild Wars 2 video which actually has this happening? In all my time in GW2 I haven't seen this happening. And in pre-Orr, outside of the dungeons, everything was just a massive, mindless zerg. Show me something. GW1 was using strategy from Pre-Searing (the charr did it masterfully). Show me GW2's strategy.

The fact of the matter is is that even if this is in Orr, you're then saying that you need to 'grind to get to the good stuff.' That's not an answer. And if that's the only answer I'm given, then I stand by my 3.

I hate when you aggro a mob, it chases you and then you decide to stop and fight it, only for it to fight you for a moment and then turn away to run back to its spawn.

Seriously, 30-0?  I never knew the game been out for more than 30 weeks.  Winning a battle isn't the entire match.  It's just slightly over a month that the game is out so to make such claims is so childish.  Truth be told...  MoP is the reason.  Now let them enjoy WOW without further interruptions.

The attitude in the WvW community overall seems pretty poor, and it's sad.

I've just taken to reporting the most egregious offenders. A.Net is pretty strict with its banhammer.

Any racist slurs, homophobic slurs, or anything similar, you get reported.

They'll learn one at a time.

.At Farshiver Peaks we have had Vizunah Square in EVERY battle since the 24 hour thing started. And so far in EVERY battle (except one)  we have lost due to the fact they field a huge overnight force that outnumbers us and the other server by 4 or 5 to one.

I would like to say well done to them. They are awesome for staying up and we are rubbish for needing to go to bed. In short, they win. Now can we please put them in a special all night tier and let the rest of us get on with it? We can then have fun, interesting, exciting and close battles with servers that behave similarly to us and they can have the same. Surely winning a 24 hour battle in 30 mins with 0 opposition has got be as boring as losing the same battle is frustrating?

Oh I forgot Zhaitan, main antagonist in the game has the most pathetic video game fight ever. You fight his adds for 90% of the fight, then he gets damaged in a cutscene, lands on a tower, and you shoot at him for 2-3 minutes with one button while he just looks at you till he dies. He doesn't even try to stop you in the final phase, that's just terrible.

yeah this. perfectly fine to shoot people in the face with arrows stab them with daggers or set them on fire, but the line gets drawn at a shirt being shaped to look like a hand touching a boob.

I hear a lot of whining on the forums. Okay, fair enough, I expect that. However, these people that have problems with the game towards the point that they regret their purchase are beginning to think that they are part of the majority. They couldn't be more wrong.

I'd just like to take a moment here to say something for the silent majority.

We love this game.
We're having lots of fun.
Yeah, there are some bugs that suck, but for the most part, it's a great way to spend a few hours.

Sorry if you thought we didn't like it, but we do. Sorry if you thought ANet is losing customers left and right, but they aren't. They have us. So whine. Complain and threaten and troll and do whatever you wish. Just know that you are a minority, a hedge case, and just because you don't love this game, doesn't mean we don't.

I'm not saying this game is perfect. I'm saying that I agree with the design decisions and the direction. If you don't, please play something else, because you're going to ruin it for us.
