I expect MMORPG history is also a big factor. People who have been playing them for years are more likely to get bored even only playing them for a couple hours a day, and while GW2 does have some twists here and there, it still feels like what we expect from an MMORPG.

I'm pretty much a newcomer to MMORPGs, and my couple hours a day still provides moments of delight and wonder.

This time they removed the recommended videos section and replaced it with popular / recommended channels? Why the hell would I care about a channel I've never heard of? A channel doesn't deserve my attention unless I know what kind of videos it makes. I loved how I could go on the old Youtube home and find new videos by clicking on recommendations.
I wish they would just stop messing around with Youtube and leave it be. If they're gonna make changes don't remove stuff, but give us additional stuff instead. Let us choose what we want to see.[/rant]

Anyone else annoyed by the new Youtube change?

I looked closer at the two links posted. This information is coming from a Portuguese fan who visited Gamescon. He spoke, in Portuguese with a native French speaking community rep. So the path of information is kinda round-about, and may have mistakes due to language barriers. Take it with a grain of salt....

This may seem acceptable for some, but honestly, this is the definition of "joyless grind". Arena.net otherwise seems very considerate with not wanting to waste players' time (since they're B2P, they can afford this), see "deposite all collectibles", the waypoint system, etc.

If you applied the logic of the current transmutation system to the dye system, then every single dye would be 1-use only. You use the dye, it's gone. No problem if you plan on wearing that specific dye indefinitely, but as soon if you want to change things up a bit, you have to farm it again.

There's a reason why they made dyes character-bound, and that is because players love collecting things. I like to collect not only dyes, but also gear.

No, but I hope my example above explains what I mean. I do not like the look of only one set of gear and want to wear that set indefinitely. I like a variety of gear, and like to collect that, and be able to choose how I want to look at any time, without constantly destroying the gear I collected and would like to use another time.

Oh, I just read that. If that worked, that would actually be a viable solution to my problem

Still seems a bit weird that a work-around like that is required, but I would be fine with that, as long as it would allow me to rotate through all my pretty outfits. ^^

you get one armor you like

then next week you get another armor you like

you buy a cheap version of the stats you want, or you use the random ones you pick up.

then you use the transmutation stone of the 2nd item you like on the dirtbomb cheap item with good stats.

it will probably cost less than a transmutation stone.

the key here is you KEEP the items whose look you like, and use them on a cheapo easily produced regular gear with the same stats.
the items you like are the template, the cheapo easily produced stock item with good stats is what you use the template on

This option is likely to be cheaper than having to go through transmutation stones every week.

A-Net will likely offer perfect stat armour for cheap within game as they have done in the past. Getting 4 copies of armour with the stats you like then transmuting on to the ones you actually want only has to be done once. Constantly transmuting one set of stats on a weekly basis would quickly become an expensive endeavour.
