Not yet it's not.

Oh, it certainly is, and it's naive to think it's not.

While they haven't released sales figures for the gem shop, I think it's safe to say that you could credit just about everyone in the game for purchasing one $20 bundle of gems. This is accounting for people that have bought no gems, and people that have bought obscene amounts of gems.

On top of the 3 million boxed copies sold (and that's a figure from January, so it could even be closer to 3.5 - 4 million now), that's about 1/2 a game purchased again by those same people.

So maybe it's not surpassed the boxed sales numbers yet, but the pace at which it's making money for Arena Net is much higher than it ever was for Guild Wars 1. If they've made this much money in less than a year, then it's safe to assume that they'll surpass the GW1 mark in a relatively short amount of time.

And that's not a knock on GW1, because I love GW1. GW2 just has things going for it that GW1 never did, such as a lot of pre-release hype a really active gem store.

Do those figures include the expansion packs?

It's pretty hilarious that people coming back can't do SAB or the F&F dungeon. Actually it's not that funny, more like really stupid.

Agreed. There needs to be a way to replay that content, even if it's not in the open world. Like a "Storyteller" NPC in LA that you can talk to and he'll "tell you the story" (AKA you get to play) a chronicle from the past.

Never ever expect established players to ever be critical in any meaningful way, it's not in their interest.
The loudest guy in this thread doesn't even play GW2 by his own admittance. Lecture us more about who does or doesn't do something because of what's in their best interest.

What I take from a lot of people in threads like this is, "If you don't think the game is shitty, you're wrong."

Well, we're either wrong or we have some sort of  ulterior motive for having the opinion we do.

You are so poetic with your use of such phrases as "self pity circle jerk." ;)

But, you still haven't answered my very simple question. At which point do you consider there to be "no hope" for fixing the flaws in the game? How long do you think the customer should wait?

1 year? 2 years? 3 years? Indefinitely?

All I'm asking is, in your expert opinion, when do we get to actually criticize the developers for not fixing the flaws in the game? Not to mention, at what point does it seriously affect attrition, regardless of your expert opinion? ;)

Well, all in all, I would think at least half of the issues need to be either fixed or addressed (acknowledgement of said issues and pledge to fix them) by at least August.

ALL of the current issues like the OP mentioned need to be fixed by the 2nd year anniversary of the game at the latest, which would be next summer.

That's my own personal time frame just because I don't expect them to drop everything they're doing (living world, etc) to fix them right away, because let's be honest they have their NC Soft overlords wanting them to bring in a steady gem store income. I would think having everything fixed by next summer is a reasonable time frame given that, and it could give them enough time to perhaps release said fixes as a part of an expansion pack.

It's also easy to forget that Arena Net has improved the game since launch. It's not like it's been a stagnant mess of issues being added. WoodenPotatoes just released a video that touches upon this, actually.
