My favorite armor in the game was my Asuran Cultural Tier 3 armor. I loved it. I just am not impressed with a lot. I remember going through the GW2 armor site and looking at what I wanted for other characters and never really seeing anything that exciting.

They need to add more varieties of armor.  It's what I feel the living story did wrong... we should have vendors with new armor and weapon types for every major update to up the variety and types of armor.  The designs they could have made with the bazaar of the winds and these recent updates.

Are we talking about the same game?  I've yet to see a single armor in GW2 that I consider to be even the least bit skimpy.  Most appear rather conservative.  In fact, at the rate things are going, I won't be surprised if the remaining armors include a burqa and nun's habit.  <Not kidding>

Hmm well final reply on that subject to stop derailling this thread which was supposed to be about armor found in GW2 :

Wow...Tera armors really are skimpy. Most of the times, I don't find tops to be skimpy, but...some of them barely cover the nipples. If those armors didn't focus on showing panties, I'd find them gorgeous, but I really hate it when an armor is skimpy for the sake of being skimpy instead of focussing on how it can look good, and then make it more revealing if it makes it more beautiful.

Like this armor. If the "belt" was where it should be, I'd like it a whole lot more.

But since my goal is to get that armor, I'll wear whatever I have to wear to get it. (And I hope ANet does a great job at putting it in game >.>).

You know that's an interesting subject. When I went looking for more armors recently I ran across a thread that had a skin texture map pulled from the korean version of the game compared to the western version and the difference in the texture was...nipples. Yes the korean version you could see the nipples under the skimpy armor but they were painted out and heavier shadows added for the western version. Funny huh?

Most of the tera armors remind me of fancy fantasy outfits with bikini bottoms attached, like the bikini part was an afterthought... "Oh that armor is gorgous, well done...hmm we need to toss some panties on her though or else we can't release it".

Yep, showing legs or mid riff isn't what I consider skimpy.

But having parts like this or this is something that I find doesn't make the armor more beautiful and is done for the sake of making it more "skimpy".

And this skirt is so short that you see under it without even having to reposition the camera.

It would be nice to have more short skirts, just no so incredibly small. But ugh to leggings...I hate them.

One of those legging sets is based off of the genie/harem girl look and thus the exposed side legs, which on that particular outfit I don't mind. Would have been nice to have had a slightly transparent pants leg part on that too as an option.

That's like the only really short/skimpy skirt i've seen is that starter one. I hope there are more variations that have some nice detailing on them.

Look at all the armors displayed:
90 percent of all male armors have some kind of skirt attached to them!! I just realised that.
Who designed those and got away with that? Almost none of the male armors are just straight pants, most have short and long skirts, loincloths and all kinds of drapes attached.

I find that eternaly offputting! How is that even practical for armor, having something dangle around your knees in battle?

It's also the same with nearly ever ranger set. Seems like they're all "ohh trenchcoats!" for looks. I want non trenchcoat backs/lower body styles.

For me, too many of the light armors have long cumbersome skirts which would tend to catch on vegetation and hinder movement.  Such attire seems impractical for characters who are walking and running across Tyria.  A more practical wardrobe would feature shorter skirts or tight leggings.

Well as I said, I'm not sure exactly what it's called, that's just what I would name it seeing as how it is worn by all the Vigil soldiers. However I think I'm right on how to get it, as I saw an armor vendor at the Vigil Keep in Gendarran Fields, but she wouldn't sell me anything because I wasn't a Vigil Soldier. Hope it helps.

That does :) A name is good even if it's not what the vendor sells it as until we can get the vendor name. Also the info that you need to have joined the order is important. Thanks again.

I also like the GW1 elementalist armors, and dislike most of the GW2 light armors.  However, my main reason for disliking the GW2 armors tends to be the long skirts.  IMHO, the first 2 examples you showed would be improve with either different skirts or leggings more like those found in some of the GW1 armors.

(Snip)

In terms of fantasy style, I do like certain aspects of the Tera armors,  Many of them appear to be much more detailed and exotic than the bland and mundane armors in GW2.

While I love the skimpy armors in tera, I am glad that guild wars 2 is catering to both skimpy and covered with some inbetween armors. I do agree that some of the tera armors seem to have more filigree/detailing then the guild wars armors. We can hope that changes as we get higher level armors because many of the low level armors I saw were just so damn bland.

Now if we could just get some skimpy/non skimpy without the long skirt junk...

might as well call it longskirtwars :P
