In Topic: WvW Ratings/Rankings Question

I've been seeing the ranks and ratings uploaded every week or so and I am utterly confused on a few things. What are these things:

1) Volatility
2) Deviation
3) Delta

Do they affect anything anything at all or is it just a random back-end stat?

Please someone answer me lol I cannot fathom what they mean at all.

I can't say for sure what any of the three terms mean but according to the GW2 Wikia ArenaNet use the 'Glicko Rating System' which is usually used in Chess (LOL put Cheese before -_-) games and the such you can read more about it here:

As for all the mathematics involved it all goes over my head so I'd suggest reading that to possibly understand what the meaning of those three terms are, hope it helps!

200 years ago everyone was walking around tyria in their fancy obsidian armors and chaos gloves. Eventually the bearers of these armor died, but because armor were allways customized to their crafter no one else was able to wield them, thus creating mountains of useless obsidian armors and chaos gloves, these items were now considered scrap metal. The armor were then salvaged into all kinds of rare and exotic quality items which we still can find in every part of tyria.

...I guess...

Yeah gotta say that's probably the best explanation you'll get as I imagine the official responce is that, "It just made sense as a way for people to get a high level crafting item"

In Topic: Gem Store Sale

I think Arenanet need to look at doing deals on the price of Gems, rather than always on the items in the store and maybe some more options when it comes to how many gems you want, for instance its £8 for 800 gems (so £1 per 100 gems ofc) and i'd be much more willing to spend like £2 or £4 occasionally rather than £8

I get that its not much less but I don't see why it isn't easy enough for Arenanet to do and might help sales of Gems (not to say sales are bad, I've no idea.)

Early on during Wintersday one of the jewellers recipes could be exploited to gain a lot of ectos through salvaging (craft, regain snowflake and potentially several ecto & repeat). It was pretty widespread for the short time you could do it, the method even being posted on the official forums. As you can see from the thread, it was stopped fairly quickly, but not before many people could use it. Well now it seems ANet have one last gift for these people, in the form of mass bans. What makes it perhaps worse is that when asked if it was an exploit, ANet didn't answer.

What's everyones opinion on this? Is a ban a fair punishment for those who did this, or should it instead be some kind of a rollback? Are you now worried about finding new ways to make quick cash after an update? This isn't the first time this sort of thing has happened. Early on, the Chilli Pepper Popper and Karma weapon exploiters were banned but then unbanned with the requirement of deleting their ill-gotten gains. Should a similar thing be done here?

Well its perfectly simple.

Was it something that was clearly intended to be done or was it something that you wouldn't normally of been able to do but could because it wasn't working properly.

I don't see how this is difficult for anybody to understand.

Yeah I do remember this as well, I believe I saw her in Beta at Hoelbrak and never after that but when I think on it more I could be mixing up who it was (somehow)

Either way I think Guild Wars 2 could really do with a little more of these cool little things in the world, World of Warcraft (as much as I disliked the game after a couple years playing) had a plethora of interesting little things around the world that made exploring even more fun.
