In Topic: When will GW2 get real PvP?

So another month has passed, has anything changed for the better?

Not really. Custom Arenas are in beta, but all they seem to be is formerly empty servers with the option to name them how you want and adjust the map rotation for a fee, add a password lock if you want. No real way to enforce any special rules, which is a shame. At any given time there are 10-15 servers going, and about 100 empty. So same old same old.

In Topic: The Living World: Pivot Point

I don't get it. I mean, I guess the Living World Thing is cool, but it definitely doesn't feel "living." Especially considering all the content is temporary, what's the point? There are so many things that could be implemented that aren't temporary, and would help the game long term that seemingly go without consideration.

Polymock and all the other activities that were supposed to be included in release? *Crickets*
Challenge Missions a la GW (Which would create infinitely more replayability)? *Crickets*
PvP Development? *Crickets*
Additional (non-gem) Armors? Nope.
Temporary events that seemingly serve no purpose? Yeah, lets do those!

I'm sure it will be fun, I just question the dev priorities.

In Topic: New Gem Store Items

I don't know about these gem store things, but I will say this: It must be really nice to be ArenaNet, they always have plenty of fans willing to say they're almost broke and need more and more gem sales just to keep the game running.

3+ million boxes sold at $60 each ($600,000 for every member of the 300 person team), plus bank slots, character slots, RNG gamble chests, boosters, town clothes, and a myriad of other optional items made with plenty of developer time and effort while huge parts of the game wither and die... at what point does it become greed? Apparently... never.

You are assuming however that the custom arenas will not require extra space, which is quite likely that they will.

The new Flame & Frost Dungeon will take up more server space too, should it only be accessible if the party leader pays an entry fee with gems? It's just the party leader after all, everyone could pitch in, and it would help with server costs to host the instance.

Awesome. 8 months later we get a basic feature that should have been in at release - and now we have to pay for it.

This will be great for the PvP community, really. Now anytime anyone has a complaint or wants a feature implemented it'll be "Go buy a custom arena and do it there." It'll be years now before we get something even as simple as dueling, cause we can do it now as long as we pay for the right. Plenty of people will stay around then!
