Pace of Combat: Action and Reaction

After watching a majority of the videos and listening/reading what the devs have to say regarding combat, it seems that the gameplay is more in lines with a Console action game or a FPS.

Being able to dodge out of the way, kiting while shooting, non PC-targeting AoE heals... The list goes on and on. I am reminded of games like God of War or Mass Effect where the controls are simple and you have a limited number of abilities.

Do you think the Devs have been inspired by these types of games?

Will a new playerbase will be drawn in by this playstyle?

Do you think this interpretation is wrong? Is it a dyed-in-the-wool RPG first and foremost?
