With GW2's messed up and broken camera system?  Never!

#2221677 Thoughts on the New Armor?

I'm with Ship Soo on this - Male Heavy & Female light are good, the rest are pretty much meh to me.

And why, of why is the medium armor yet another trenchcoat / half-dress *sighs*.

Exactly. It seems to me like they had Kasmeer's and Braham's armour already laying around so they just smacked some other styles onto Medium and the gender-opposite of those armors to release it.

It just looks lazy. I mean, look at that Light Male armour, it looks like they salvaged a couple other in-game armors and just put pieces together so they aren't empty handed.

It just really makes you wonder how big their team is, that is responsible for armor skins, because they haven't gotten shit done since release...

Also wonder whether it's a sign of them just not having enough time, that each new helmet introduced, has a problem with the mesh-beards of male characters. They always vanish. Was the same with the Dragon Helmet and they fixed it eventually - so there might be hope.

#2216123 My Thoughts On Temp Content.

Posted ExplosivePinata on 02 July 2013 - 11:59 PM

I get the feeling outwith the RNG purchases that the actual in game content is so lacking in actual substance it's only put in as temporary not only to appease Miss Cox but that there is more chance of you having a better interaction with installing Steam than you will with GW2's temp content. Then after the fact, this half hearted, uninspired drivel will be gone so regular dissapointed players will have no frame of reference for their dissapointment and be pointed to the Wiki god and be disregarded as whiners when they try to relate it to new players. Hell, temp. content can't poison the excellent base content so we'll keep churning it out, recycling and deleting before the word spreads and the poison gets too deep.

I'm always wrong but it's how I feel.

There's a huge difference between time required and skill required. Anyone can kill 20 creatures in Ascalon in a day.

#2217728 Why you shouldn't use real money to buy gold from anyone other than Arena...

Posted Mhenlo on 08 July 2013 - 06:42 PM

I think it's funny people hate sub games for having a subscription, but then they go out and spend $100 on character slots, transmutation stones, Coxboxes, etc.

Ya, that's real progressive. Instead of getting everything you need for $15 a month and making it fair for everyone, instead we have a game where in order to viably have a shot at getting new things introduced to the game you are best off paying ANet way more than you would have on a sub game.

But people think it is the next best thing since sliced bread. Go figure.

#2215451 Do you still play GW2, and why?

Posted Menrva on 30 June 2013 - 11:22 AM

Honest truth. I played for the first 2-3 weeks when the game was released. I got my character to just over Level 30 and quit. I came back again for about another week during the beginning of 2013 and then quit again. I don't think I've logged in since. I do regret my purchase and I doubt whether I will buy an expansion - if there is ever an expansion. The only reason why I'm here on these forum is because I irregularly check for new updates. However I'm not sure why I bother since it will take a lot more than a simple update to bring me back into the game.

I know I didn't go through all the content, but I feel I experienced enough to get a general understanding of the game and where it was going. In a nutshell, I found the game to be agonisingly dull and I just couldn't bring myself to continue. PvE was boring for so many reasons. Dynamic events in my experience were simply dressed-up petty quests without the small backstory of traditional quests. The frequency of DE meant I was consistently seeing (if not actively experiencing) the same content again and again. The quality of the main story was embarrassing - shamefully bad. I couldn't get into it and I know it wasn't getting better. There was no fun to the crafting system it was only a chore. Things I liked were the huge beautiful world with great art direction and music. I liked the action-oriented combat (dodge, moveability etc) but the lack of the holy trinity encourages solo play, which in my opinion unless you were in a good Guild made GW2 a very personal and lonely experience. Of course you co-operate during Dynamic Events, but it doesn't ever feel like cooperating. There was little to no communication or strategy, you could completely ignore the other players and breeze through content.

PvP is only a shadow of what the original Guild Wars achieved. WvW is flawed and a complete mess. I think GW2 has many good ideas which I hope will inspire future MMO's but for whatever reason these ideas never worked as well as I envisioned.

For all those that said "No"....why are you still posting on here?

Let's see... The tread title is:

Do you still play GW2, and why?

It's a two part question;

Do you still play GW2: A yes/no answer

and why?: A detailed reasoning behind the yes/no answer.

Even if they don't play it's still on topic to the thread. Stop being so defensive about people deciding to not play the game. If they don't play the game anymore you don't get to decide if they're 'worthy' to be part of the community.

- The meta event bosses/dynamic event bosses/world bosses/champions...or whatever you call them, have been lacking since beta.  Just not at all what I envisioned (based on the pre-release hype).

You mean like hit a dragons toe for 10 minutes and get a 13silver rare that barely covers the WP costs to even get there? :)

Posted Arshay Duskbrow on 06 June 2013 - 03:52 AM

Very little. Every day it's like a debate with myself, asking myself what reason I might have to log in. Sometimes I get a "high tide" of motivation where I'll log in and do a few things, but I inevitably get tired of endlessly spamming the same ten weapon skills (and it has to be those ten, as the other weapons are even worse/more boring).

There are no armor skins I want, no weapon skins I could ever actually get with a reasonable amount of effort, and the content-based goals are just a chore. I haven't finished the personal story and have no desire to, I can't finish mapping Straits of Devastation because there is never, ever, ever anyone there to help take the Balthazar temple. Even if I could, it wouldn't matter because I hate WvW so much I'd never complete the mapping there anyway.

I'm tired of taking 10 minutes to kill a ridiculous damage-sponge world boss only to be "rewarded" by an endless stream of worthless blues and greens. All guilds are filled with foul-mouthed teenage brats who expect me to get on voicechat and listen to their harangue even while doing content that in no way requires close coordination (almost all PvE, in other words). I've done all the dungeoning I care to, was dissuaded from ever even trying fractals due to the elitism and gearcheck...I could go on, but I'm sure you get the idea.

I don't usually permit myself the luxury of such unfocused whining (as opposed to more specific point-by-point whining, which I do a lot of), but you asked, so.

#2209543 GW2 Evolution to

Posted assyrian dragon on 06 June 2013 - 04:48 AM

I'm here to ask you a question. is it worth it to keep investing in GW2?
read this before you answer.
after almost a year and we still have
1- Game mechanic broken (support /control).
2-Condition damage broken (why Anet bother with balancing, this should be the first thing because if they fix it, which I doubt they will they will need to do rebalancing again.
3-Boring skill system.
4-living story.
now why the living story because it is Anet giving us a clear indication to the future of GW2.
GW2 has evolved to be a game built around the cash shop. Everything in the future will be about limited time shiny skins and RNG with RM.
Your Journey as a hero has ended.
It is time to dress your avater with RM if you get lucky with RNG.

#2202178 When will GW2 get real PvP?

There are people that are fast learners and that don't actually need to actively play in order to learn stuff. If someone knows how the skills and the maps work they can quite easily figure out strategies and plans to counter an enemy and win, no matter which rank he/she is.

No, it is not reasonable to assume someones skill is based on the rank, since the rank have nothing at all to do with skills. I have seen quite a few rank 1-2 players that have owned rank 20 players, but going by your logic that would be impossible because they are 19 ranks lower?

It's like talking to a box of rocks.

Read what I wrote not what you want to argue against. Interpreting, rather simply written, paragraphs to suit your argument is not really a basis on which I am interested in discussing with you.

#2197291 Frost and Flame Finale - Why 13 Days?

Posted MazingerZ on 01 May 2013 - 01:23 PM

Simple.  To create a sense of urgency so people who left will come back now, as opposed to waiting for either 1) the review fall out of the general populace and 2) pushing it off until the game gets meaty enough as a WHOLE to deserve their interest.

Thus you have people logging in and increasing your POTENTIAL GEM CUSTOMER BASE and your profits unless you're a total idiot at running the cash shop will get a bump of some sort.  This is probably their attempts to fight off attrition in a F2P game where people are free to come and go as they please.

#2179940 Quantifying fun: Checklist vs. Experience

Posted El Duderino on 16 March 2013 - 01:43 PM

So, I had this thought in another thread and though it deserved its own thread. I suggested many waypoints be removed (which isn't the point of this thread) and people said they wouldn't be able to get as many things done during their limited time in game.

Furthermore, many people have likened their experience in GW2 to a giant checklist, which means that they keep trying to figure out how fast they can get things done.

So, my question is this:

Doesn't it seem strangle to quantify our fun in a game by the number of things we can do rather than the experience we have doing those things?

Basically, if you log in to have fun - and the content you play, regardless of how much you can do in a session, is fun - then isn't that good enough?

And yet with the exact same amount of time needed to get ONE Ascended gear piece you can get 12 of those boxes, which contain non-soulbound items, all useful for your profession.

Sure, you might not be able to use a few of them but seeing as they are not soulbound you can sell them and buy another piece if need be.

Selling a rare does not equal buying an exotic. Do you honestly think buying those boxes are worth it?

Be honest now.
