#2209543 GW2 Evolution to

Posted assyrian dragon on 06 June 2013 - 04:48 AM

I'm here to ask you a question. is it worth it to keep investing in GW2?
read this before you answer.
after almost a year and we still have
1- Game mechanic broken (support /control).
2-Condition damage broken (why Anet bother with balancing, this should be the first thing because if they fix it, which I doubt they will they will need to do rebalancing again.
3-Boring skill system.
4-living story.
now why the living story because it is Anet giving us a clear indication to the future of GW2.
GW2 has evolved to be a game built around the cash shop. Everything in the future will be about limited time shiny skins and RNG with RM.
Your Journey as a hero has ended.
It is time to dress your avater with RM if you get lucky with RNG.

#2202178 When will GW2 get real PvP?

Incorrect.
There are people that are fast learners and that don't actually need to actively play in order to learn stuff. If someone knows how the skills and the maps work they can quite easily figure out strategies and plans to counter an enemy and win, no matter which rank he/she is.

No, it is not reasonable to assume someones skill is based on the rank, since the rank have nothing at all to do with skills. I have seen quite a few rank 1-2 players that have owned rank 20 players, but going by your logic that would be impossible because they are 19 ranks lower?

It's like talking to a box of rocks.

Read what I wrote not what you want to argue against. Interpreting, rather simply written, paragraphs to suit your argument is not really a basis on which I am interested in discussing with you.

#2197291 Frost and Flame Finale - Why 13 Days?

Posted MazingerZ on 01 May 2013 - 01:23 PM

Simple.  To create a sense of urgency so people who left will come back now, as opposed to waiting for either 1) the review fall out of the general populace and 2) pushing it off until the game gets meaty enough as a WHOLE to deserve their interest.

Thus you have people logging in and increasing your POTENTIAL GEM CUSTOMER BASE and your profits unless you're a total idiot at running the cash shop will get a bump of some sort.  This is probably their attempts to fight off attrition in a F2P game where people are free to come and go as they please.

Not worth the five year wait and stripped development from Guild Wars.

#2179940 Quantifying fun: Checklist vs. Experience

Posted El Duderino on 16 March 2013 - 01:43 PM

So, I had this thought in another thread and though it deserved its own thread. I suggested many waypoints be removed (which isn't the point of this thread) and people said they wouldn't be able to get as many things done during their limited time in game.

Furthermore, many people have likened their experience in GW2 to a giant checklist, which means that they keep trying to figure out how fast they can get things done.

So, my question is this:

Doesn't it seem strangle to quantify our fun in a game by the number of things we can do rather than the experience we have doing those things?

Basically, if you log in to have fun - and the content you play, regardless of how much you can do in a session, is fun - then isn't that good enough?

And yet with the exact same amount of time needed to get ONE Ascended gear piece you can get 12 of those boxes, which contain non-soulbound items, all useful for your profession.

Sure, you might not be able to use a few of them but seeing as they are not soulbound you can sell them and buy another piece if need be.

Selling a rare does not equal buying an exotic. Do you honestly think buying those boxes are worth it?

Be honest now.

#2157845 xpac worth of content, so far

Posted Gileas898 on 04 February 2013 - 05:31 PM

In a couple of weeks I'm sure they will elaborate it a bit more and call it "expanding the existing features."

Basically we will get 2-3 new events in Orr, another useless NPC who runs around and drops crap items, and a reform of the WvW achievement system.

2/3 of these features will be broken, obviously, and they will have no ETA on when it will be fixed.

Add to this a couple of nerfs to drop rate that are called bug fixes, along with a nerf to ranger Longbow damage by 10% and we are ready to call it GW2 version 2.1.

You can't interrupt the dodge roll with auto-attack chains anymore, so there's no way to burn endurance to keep it up.  Now you have to roll, but rolling means you're not attacking, so it's a net DPS loss.  The trait is basically useless as-is now.

So it is basically a fix to a formerly broken mechanic?

They should have refunded NOTHING.  Period.

The people who are sticking with guildwars are those who knew what they wanted when they came.

I am a fan of WvW and i still have much fun when i do it.

....though i wish arenanet paid more attention to that fact and gave us proper rewards....

Nop they are not.

I came to a game that promised me no gear grind for TOP stats armor , just for looks...

Wait , what do i see now? Gear grind at its best. WoW style.

So nop , people that came hoping Anet would keep their promises like me are also on the quitting stage now.

3 weeks ago anet didn't completely abandon the game that they set out to make with the manifesto.

What outside those 2 things are real proper challenges though ? It's either pvp or pve. Or do some consider wvwvw as challenge?
I can't speak for the poster I quoted but personally I'm a PvE player, former GW player.

What's a good challenge and what's not? It's a matter of taste I guess. DE's where the main challenge is to tag a mob before it's devoured by the zerg definitely isn't a "good" challenge, if any at all. I also don't find instant death traps, dodging red circles and billion+ hp bosses in dungeons good challenges either. Grinding legendaries and ascended gear instead of cosmetics is also very disappointing. Running around maps to get your POIs and vistas isn't a challenge either, because it doesn't require any skill, in the end it's just a time grind.

What I really miss most of all is FoW like dungeons where teamwork and player skill matters more than the rest.
