That would explain her b****y attitude :P

But yes, whilst they're working on the living story, they have said that they're working on things in the background which they're not ready to reveal yet. So hopefully *crosses fingers* we'll have an update as big as an expansion. I wouldn't even mind paying for such an update to be honest.

I will not pay for these shitty LS updates, however I WILL pay for a friggen expansion. The LS is beyond boring.

Just to be completed

http://gw2buildcraft...effective-power

Quote

Effective Power = Power × [1 + Critical Chance × (Critical Multiplier - 1)] × Damage Multiplier

Rather straight forward formula that anyone can calculate.

And my personal spreadsheet that I use since it takes into account the buffs that the dungeon community considers relevant.

OP did not state that he was looking for a build with all the assumptions you gave, so what are your justifications for giving them? You basically answered a question not given. No one is allowed to just cut off part of the domain of a function simply because they don't want to deal with it. That not how math works, nor how a mathematical model is made (which is what was implicitly done in the next part of your post).

Those are the standard assumptions people use when calculating PVE build dps.  Sorry if you don't like it.  Sorry if you think you're some kind of math genius when you aren't.

And what exactly is "Effective power"? Its not a mathematical term, as there are no theorems on the term. If its unique to you, I assume that you have a peer reviewed post somewhere here, but I cant seem to find it. Please feel free to link it as I would love to review your mathematical definitions. I assume that it is some sort of formula which you give weighted averages based on traits/point stats that you deem important. If that's the case, how did you find unbiased estimators and what are they? (Will save me the time of having to find them myself, so thanks in advance.) I wont assume that you haven't given some weight to critical chance and critical damage in your model, because that would be just ignorant to tell people how to gear/trait otherwise. So I am incredibly curious; how did you fit these non-linear stats in a linear model?

Effective Power is a metric for comparing the dps of two builds in the same profession using the same weaponset.  No, I did not invent it.  It was a creation of many community members.  You accusatory tone as if I'm trying to trick people makes me think you're some kind of troll.

The conclusion I draw; ??? There is clearly not enough information here to really draw one.

The conclusion is you aren't as knowledgeable as you might believe yourself to be.  Before you try to tear down my post, why don't you look into whether your criticisms are valid first.  Otherwise you'll make yourself look foolish.  Oops.

Do you want Guru to be advice for the elite, or advice for everyone?

Everyone should strive to be on the same level as the elite. You shouldn't be content with 'good enough'.

I disagree completely. I will be playing this game primarily as a competitive PvPer. I love the idea of tournaments, teams, etc and intend to do well as a competitive player. In a game like this I think that from a competitive standpoint you really need to know all of the classes inside and out in order to play at the highest level, and to do that obviously requires a lot of play time on every class. While I intend to main mesmer, I also intend to play every other class quite a bit and play different classes and different compositions with my team. I don't want to have to delete and create characters every time I want to play that 6th 7th or 8th class. It's going to become a major nuisance for me to have to recreate characters, setup traits, get al my gear from the vendors, rune the gear, sigil the weapons, select skills, etc every single time I want to play a class that isn't one of my 5 current characters. Maybe you consider it a luxury to play all 8 classes frequently, something that isn't necessary, but for competitive players it will be important in my opinion.

You don't want to, you don't have to. It is made possible for you to delete 1 character and make a new one and in gw2 you don't even have to max your chars to play PvP. To make your life easier you can purchase more slots for your 6th - 8th characters. And ffs guys, this is a buy to play game! You can easily spend a few dollars to get that 6th or 8th character when there is no sub fee. This is a freakin MMO and ANet is a company that aims to make profit for the investors! They won't give you the moon for nothing. Wake up.
