How to kill Legendary Searing Effigy

He is a Citadel of Flame story mode boss.
My group can't kill it; Crystals spawn too fast.
Can you guys, the ones who killed it, tell me your strategy?

By lvl 11, I notice that my character's skin tone is more pale than I desire. Too lazy to go back and restart

When I previewed the Flame Legion set in Lion's Arch today, the gear looks different than the previous tests.

I think the elite would look better if it was a greatsword made ENTIRELY out of fire instead of molten rocks. After all, it is a fiery greatsword, not a lava greatsword.
